Kinetic Concepts, Inc. Opens Doors On R&D Lab / Call Center in San Antonio, Texas

New building for KCI is an 80,000 SF new building and finish-out, featuring Research Lab and call center space, offices and a large gallery where KCI's 90+ patents are showcased. This building represents the 44th successful commercial building project for Developer CMC - Commercial Realty Group and General Contractor Bob Moore Construction.

Arlington, TX (PRWEB) March 22, 2005 -- Kinetic Concepts, Inc. (KCI) manufactures more than 40 products that improve advanced wound care by accelerating the healing process or preventing complications. With more than 4,000 employees worldwide, KCI's revenues for their two top product lines were $764 million in 2003, a 32% increase from 2002. KCI, which became a publicly traded company in 2004, is growing fast and expanding their need for facilities of all types.

By 2004 KCI needed new space for offices and research and call center facilities. They turned to CMC – Commercial Realty Group and Bob Moore Construction to create a new 80,000 building in San Antonio's University Park. Hardy McCullah/MLM Architects designed the building; Rehler, Vaughn & Koone designed the interior.

"We have great relations with KCI and this is our second building for them,” said Subash Gaitonde, Partner / Principal of CMC. “KCI needed the building shell and finish-out completed in just seven months. Even though we lost 30 days to rain, Bob Moore brought it in on time and in budget."

The building features a gallery that showcases some of KCI’s products and the 90+ patents the company has received. A large R&D Lab provides facilities for developing innovations for KCI’s Vacuum Assisted Closure® Therapy System, specialty hospital beds and therapeutic surfaces. The building also features 35,000 SF of call center space to support the company’s patient financial services, and multiple private offices. The overall design focuses on open spaces, with high ceilings and indirect lighting, to provide a comfortable environment for employees and guests.

“We knew in advance the schedule would present a challenge,” said Ed McGuire, Vice President of Construction for Bob Moore Construction. “Because of this we hand-picked the subcontractors and that paid off, especially with all the bad weather we experienced. They certainly rose to the challenge. Our superintendent, Quinton Grudzinski, was a big part of the success as well. The number of overtime hours he put in was phenomenal. Chuck Williams with KCI really knew what he wanted, and was able to communicate that very effectively to the entire team.”

The KCI building is the latest in a long list of successful commercial buildings constructed for CMC – Commercial Realty Group by Bob Moore Construction.

“We have used Bob Moore Construction exclusively since we founded our company in 1990,” added Jesse Pruitt, Partner / Principal of CMC. “We stay with the relationship because of the quality service they provide.”

Subash Gaitonde agreed. “Jesse and I worked with Bob Moore Construction before CMC was formed, in the mid-1980s,” he said. “We hired Bob Moore Construction for a single project, and they did a great job. We used them again, and again. When we formed CMC in 1990 we stayed with Bob Moore and have ever since. Today, 20 years later, we view Bob Moore Construction as an extension of our own team when we present to clients.”

The relationship has generated 44 successful commercial building projects across the United States. San Antonio’s University Park Business Park alone includes five separate buildings owned by CMC and built by Bob Moore Construction.

“We’ve worked with Subash and Jesse for 22 years,” said Phillip Bell, President of Bob Moore Construction, “and we’ve completed more separate projects for them than for any other client. We’ve built for them from San Antonio to New York, from small office buildings to major distribution centers. Regardless the project, we’ve always enjoyed our dealings. Our relationship with Subash and Jesse is certainly one that we cherish, and we look forward to constructing many more buildings with CMC in the years to come.”
