Fastener Distribution with a Twist
In an industry that traditionally shuns technology, Fastener SuperStore has experienced rapid growth by embracing the Internet and developing an extensive e-commerce ready website. More than 70% of Fastener SuperStore's sales are generated via their website, which, to date, has registered over 10,000 buyers.
(PRWEB) July 21, 2005 -- While Fastener SuperStore seems like a typical fastener distributor at first glance, the way they do business is anything but typical of traditional distributors. Fastener SuperStore is pursuing customers, small to mid-sized businesses and consumer end-users, which the rest of the fastener industry is largely ignoring. Also, while the vast majority of the fastener industry remains behind the technology curve, more than 70% of Fastener SuperStore’s business is being generated directly from their website: www.fastenersuperstore.com.
"In a lot of ways, we are a standard fastener distributor," says Fastener SuperStore President John Barnicle. "However, we are doing some key things differently than the rest of the pack. We have figured out a way to supply the smaller fastener consumer at a very competitive cost while also providing excellent customer service and support. Our ability to serve these customers is a direct result of our website and e-commerce presence.”
The Fastener SuperStore Web site catalogs more than 25,000 different fasteners with greater than 98% of those parts in stock and available for immediate shipment. Fastener SuperStore users can place and pay for orders directly on the website. Web buyers receive e-mail notifications when their order is confirmed and accepted and also when it has shipped, complete with package tracking information.
Fastener SuperStore offers extremely quick order turnaround and ships all Web orders placed by 3:00pm Central on the same day. With shipping locations on the East Coast, West Coast and in the Midwest, most Fastener SuperStore customers receive their parts in a day or two, while only paying for Ground freight service.
Barnicle explains the importance of quick shipping, “With the type of customer we specialize in, small manufacturers, builders, DIY’ers, delivery is critical. Our customers are not ordering to replenish their bins; they are ordering parts for immediate needs. This is where our large inventory-base and same-day shipping really make the difference for our customers and our business.”
The ability to easily locate, purchase and pay for parts on the Web is proving to be an ideal fit for fastener consumers. To date, Fastener SuperStore has registered more than 10,000 buyers through their website.
Before discovering the Fastener SuperStore, Chicago real-estate developer Scott Krafthefer spent many hours searching for bolts, nuts and washers for his diverse building projects.
"In the past, I would start at Home Depot or Lowe's, and if they didn’t have the part I was looking for, or if I couldn’t justify paying their prices, I would spend some time calling fastener suppliers I found in the Yellow Pages. That was a joke – most distributors practically hung up on me, not wanting to bother with my $100 order. The ones who did take my call either wouldn’t accept my credit card, needed 10 days to get the parts or would try to gouge me on the price."
All of that changed when Krafthefer discovered the Fastener SuperStore. "Buying fasteners has become the easiest part of my day. I can order on-line at midnight or I can call at any time of the day. And because there is a Fastener SuperStore warehouse in Chicago, the parts are in my office or at my jobsite the next day."
