Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) July 27, 2005 -- A record number of concrete paver installers have sought certification through the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute (ICPI). Since July 1, 2004 ICPI held 68 courses for 2,190 installers and awarded certification to 1,911 of the participants (a 25% increase in total since last year) bringing the total number of ICPI Certified Paver Installers to over 7,500 in North America.
"Consumers expect knowledgeable installers and the attendance increase at ICPI paver installer certification courses reinforces our commitment to meet those demands" said ICPI Chairman Steve Berry. "Certification reassures prospective customers that installers have knowledge of industry construction guidelines."
The course is designed to enhance the knowledge of individuals involved in the construction of interlocking concrete pavements. Upon successful completion of the two-day course and exam, newly certified installers receive a certificate. ICPI reinforces installer knowledge through technical literature, guide specifications and continuing education.
ICPI sets the standards of the interlocking concrete pavement industry in North America. The knowledge installers gain while earning certification sets them apart from the competition by helping to reduce or eliminate costly call-backs while meeting the expectations of customers and designers/specifiers.
ICPI maintains a searchable database for consumers at www.icpi.org. Certification course registration information available at www.icpi.org or call 202-712-9036.
ICPI is a trade association whose mission is to increase the use of segmental concrete pavement systems in North America. Applications for concrete pavers include driveways, patios, walkways, roofs, airports, streets, ports, and stadiums. ICPI members include producers, contractors, design professionals and consultants. ICPI promotes the highest product standards through ICPI product certification and installation standards through ICPI contractor certification. ICPI publishes the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Magazine, along with marketing and technical resources for design professionals, contractors, and homeowners.
