Modular Home Manufacturer Receives Training Grant

Customized Structures, Inc. of Claremont, NH received a training grant from the Workforce Opportunity Council of New Hampshire.

Claremont, NH (PRWEB) May 6, 2006 -- Customized Structures of Claremont has received a matching grant from the Workforce Opportunity Council of New Hampshire. This grant will be used to contract with the New Hampshire Manufacturing Extension Partnership for two full days of employee training about lean manufacturing.

Lean manufacturing is an initiative focused on eliminating waste in manufacturing processes. Its goal is to maximize the value of all operational steps and minimize or eliminate unnecessary steps. CSI has already begun training and implementation of a 5S program. 5S is a Japanese methodology of waste elimination through workplace organization. The 5 S’s stand for Japanese words which can be translated to sort, set in order, shine, standardize, and sustain. The training provided by the Workforce Opportunity Council grant will help to cement what Customized Structures’ employees have already learned as part of the lean manufacturing process.

The lean manufacturing education will help to make Customized Structures more efficient and productive. Employees will be cross trained giving them more knowledge which will make them more flexible and accountable. This knowledge will also help to improve the quality of the modular product from CSI and make the production facility more cost efficient. In addition, lean manufacturing will help to reduce the cycle time thus improving on time deliveries.

Customized Structures is expected to begin the training in May.
