The nation’s premier high school football event will take place September 15th and 16th in Cincinnati and Massillon when nine of Ohio’s top teams will battle nine of the nation’s best high school teams in the second annual McDonald’s Kirk Herbstreit Ohio vs. USA Challenge. Thomas A. Frederick, President and CEO of NiteLites Franchise Systems, Inc. said “NiteLites views this sponsorship as an opportunity to support young athletes in their pursuit of a constructive and positive effort. The quality of the event and value of the experiences for the high school athlete and their families make it a privilege for us to be a sponsor.” NiteLites Outdoor Lighting, www.nitelites.com, joins sponsors McDonald’s, www.mcdonalds.com, J.J. Huddle’s, www.jjhuddles.com, and VT Visions Design, www.vtvisions.com.

The high school football teams invited to the Ohio versus USA have finished Number 1 in the USA Today’s Super 25 rankings seven times. Nine of the teams involved won or finished second in their state, sectional, or conference title games last season. National recruiting expert Tom Lemming says that as many as 100 players competing in the event will play college football at the Division I level. He also stated “This is by far the best high school event ever staged.”

The Challenge features nine games over two days being played in the University of Cincinnati’s Nippert Stadium and Massillon’s Paul Brown Tiger Stadium. Information on the games, including time, date, and location can be found at www.ohiovsusa.com. Tickets prices are $ 13 per two game session in Cincinnati; children 6 and under are $ 5 per session. Tickets for Massillon are available for one three-game session. For additional information about the Ohio vs. USA games call 1-513-424-7506. A percentage of all ticket sales for the event will be directed to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). RMHC serves to provide a home away from home for families of seriously ill children receiving treatment at nearby hospitals.

Last year’s USA Today National Champion, Lakeland High School (FL), will face Cincinnati’s St. Xavier, Ohio’s Division I State Champion in the event. Also representing the USA are Byrnes (SC), Cardinal O’Hara (PA), Don Bosco Prep (NJ), De La Salle (CA), Hamilton (AZ), Springdale (AR), St. Joseph’s Prep (PA), and Texas High (TX).

Joining St. Xavier as Ohio’s representatives are Centerville, Colerain (Cincinnati), Elder (Cincinnati), Findlay, Hilliard Davidson (Columbus), Massillon Washington, Moeller (Cincinnati), and Lakewood St. Edward. Information about each school, including a brief team history is also available on the event home page by clicking on each individual picture.

“Our mission was to see how well Ohio’s best would fare against the marquee programs from around the country. We’re certainly going to find out, as I couldn’t be more thrilled with the list of high-powered match-ups we’ve established.” says Kirk Herbstreit, the event’s founder and a former Centerville High School and Ohio State quarterback, who is now a college football analyst for ESPN’s College GameDay and ABC.

Josh Johnston, co-founder and event president said “This is a barometer for everybody, and it shows how much pride and how much work goes into Ohio High School football. We want them to really experience what Ohio is like.” Johnston went on to say that the event is about football – giving the players and coaches this opportunity. “Everyone realizes this is for the same common goal, and that is why Kirk and I and our partners started this event. We are doing this because it is something to give back to the high school kids and give them an experience like Kirk had. High school sports have forged who we are.”
