Agawam, MA (PRWEB) January 2, 2007 -- OMG, Inc., a leading manufacturer of fasteners and building products for the commercial and residential construction industry, has successfully completed a voluntary roofing safety course sponsored by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA). Twenty-seven sales representatives and regional managers participated in the course, which was designed to reinforce job site safety. The program covered topics such as fall protection systems, ladder safety, scaffold safety, roof deck safety and more.

Each participating employee began with a baseline test to gauge current understanding of safety procedures. Over a five-month stretch, OMG implemented a video training session, a series of "Toolbox Talk" training cards, and e-mailed FAQs, reminders and letters to encourage participants to prepare for the final evaluation. As a result of the program, participants' scores improved from a pre-course average of 75 percent to a post-course average of 93 percent.

The NRCA/OSHA roofing safety course represents the most recent example of OMG's commitment to maintaining high standards for worker safety. "Safety is a critical priority for OMG, and our participation in the course reflects that fact," says Matt Fuller, OMG's safety manager. "Periodic safety review programs are crucial to refresh workers' knowledge about safe work practices and to prevent injuries on the job. We know that safety trainings like this are a great opportunity for our employees, and we implement them regularly."

OMG received a stipend for completing the roofing safety course and was awarded a Certificate of Program Completion. The program followed a defensive driving safety program that OMG sales representatives completed successfully in April 2006.
