Torcon Selected as Construction Manager for $100 Million, 308,000 sq ft Geisinger Health System Expansion Project

Torcon, Inc. was recently awarded the construction management contract for Geisinger Medical Center's Hospital for Advanced Medicine.

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 20, 2007 -- Torcon, Inc., one of nation's largest construction management firms, was recently awarded the construction management contract for Geisinger Medical Center's Hospital for Advanced Medicine, a $100,000,000, 308,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art medical building that will adjoin the Geisinger Health System Medical Center in Danville, PA. Geisinger Health System is a leading, fully-integrated healthcare provider, and serves more than 2.5 million residents throughout Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The nine story Hospital for Advanced Medicine will house the following additions:
• 50,000-square-feet of diagnostic and laboratory space
• 32,000-square-foot surgical suite
• Several floors of patient rooms
• 60 Acuity acceptable patient beds
• Imaging expansion
• Non-invasive and interventional cardiology
• Cardiology Clinic
• Cardiothoracic vascular clinics and labs
• Food service

"We're building the hospital of tomorrow," said Lynn Miller, Chief Administrative Officer of Geisinger Medical Center. "(It will be) far and away the most technologically advanced and innovative facility in central Pennsylvania."

The new Hospital for Advanced Medicine is also being designed to be LEED certified. The LEED Green Building Rating System is administered by the US Green Building Council and aims to improve occupant well-being and environmental performance. Geisinger's new facility will also participate in the Green Guide for Health Care pilot program, a guide for healthy, sustainable building design, construction, and operation in the healthcare industry.
