Starry Night Lights to Sponsor the International Dark Sky Association's 20th Annual Meeting
The International Dark-Sky Association's (IDA) 20th Annual General Meeting will again be sponsored by Starry Night Lights, a company formed to protect the night sky from light pollution, by providing night sky friendly outdoor lighting fixtures for homes and businesses.
Park City, UT (PRWEB) April 23, 2008 -- The International Dark-Sky Association's (IDA) 20th Annual General Meeting will occur on June 8-10, 2008 and will take place in the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, in Tucson, Arizona.
The event will again be sponsored by Starry Night Lights, a company formed to protect the night sky from light pollution, by providing night sky friendly outdoor lighting fixtures. According to Anthony Arrigo, president and founder of Starry Night Lights "the relentless spread of light pollution threatens to eradicate the night sky for much of the world's population" as a result Mr. Arrigo seeks "to halt and eventually reverse this trend" so that wonders of the night sky can be seen by future generations.
The preservation of the night sky and the effects of light pollution are only a few the topics that will be part of this year's annual meeting. Energy savings, lighting design, and government reactions to light pollution, will also be some of the main subjects being presented this year.
Many well known and leading scientists, educators and government officials and a few lighting company executives are scheduled to appear and present, during the conference. Also, anyone interested in the protection of the night sky and environment, is encouraged to attend as well.
Of course, the entire conference will focus on light pollution and ways to help improve the current situation. The task of reducing light pollution is an essential part of what motivates Mr. Arrigo and he has founded his company, Starry Night Lights, around it. "Light pollution is a scourge to our environment. It wastes vast sums of money, needlessly consumes huge quantities of our energy resources and then contributes to air pollution and global warming by forcing utility companies to burn fossil fuels to produce all the electricity to drive all the needlessly produced outdoor lighting" said Mr. Arrigo.
Starry Night Lights has become a leading provider of night sky friendly outdoor lighting for both homes and commercial buildings. All Starry Night Lights exterior lights have been designed to be night sky friendly and safe. Starry Night Lights operates out of beautiful Park City, Utah.
