Portland, OR (PRWEB) April 18, 2008 -- AirAdvice, Inc., announced today a consulting agreement with Tom Foley, a 30-year utility industry veteran who was most recently President and Chairman of the Board for the Energy Trust of Oregon. His leadership at the Trust helped to develop one of the most innovative, nationally recognized efforts to promote energy conservation programs to consumers and businesses. Many of those programs are now being used by utilities in other parts of the country.
At AirAdvice, Foley will work closely with the leadership team to shape the company's strategic direction in the utility market as the company expands its BuildingAdvice™ program for commercial building energy diagnostic solutions.
"I quickly became a big believer in AirAdvice's hardware and software solutions," says Foley. "The opportunity for this technology to contribute to the effectiveness of energy assessments, building certification, and the measurement and verification of energy savings is significant. It's exactly what the industry needs to increase the scale by which energy assessments are conducted and conservation measures are implemented, ultimately ensuring power is removed from the grid."
AirAdvice began shipping BuildingAdvice in November 2007. BuildingAdvice, a portable building performance assessment platform, integrates a network of wireless sensors with energy assessment software to:
Quickly rate the energy performance of commercial buildings
Identify opportunities for reducing energy costs and improving the efficiency of HVAC systems
Accurately calculate the return on investment for proposed energy conservation measures
"In just a few months since the launch of BuildingAdvice we've gained momentum with HVAC mechanical service and controls contractors, consulting engineers, and some large, national service organizations," says Jim Crowder, AirAdvice CEO. "Every day we are seeing first-hand how bringing the capability to provide energy services where it didn't exist before fuels additional demand for the service. It opens the door for exciting growth potential for our customers. Having access to an industry expert with Tom's wealth of experience brings us a great sounding board on which to test new ideas and accelerate our pace of innovation."
Foley adds, "One of the big challenges utilities face is reaching the vast numbers of small and medium sized customers with viable programs to not just identify opportunities to reduce energy use, but more importantly, to create action at the building owner to affect change. Everyone immediately sees the value in BuildingAdvice to do that. AirAdvice's ability to develop a channel to deliver this service on a large scale will be very valuable to utilities."
Foley brings over 30 years of utility experience to AirAdvice. In addition to his leadership role at the Energy Trust of Oregon, he has held management positions as the Northwest Power Planning Council and the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has also worked as an independent consultant to the energy industry since 1995.
