Americas Watchdog Blasts Homebuilders Who did Not Pay Taxes On Millions Of Undocumented Workers, Who Installed Toxic Chinese Drywall & Built Our Nations New Homes
Americas Watchdog, its Corporate Whistle Blower Center, & its Homeowners Consumer Center have been investigating national and regional homebuilders using undocumented construction workers, in what the group calls the worst cases of tax fraud in US history. "The national or regional homebuilders forgot to pay any federal or state taxes on over a million undocumented workers, by using a 1099 subcontractor tax scheme." The group says,"for those of you in Florida, Texas, the Gulf States, The East & West Coast, you are all about to discover, that thousands of undocumented workers installed toxic Chinese drywall in 100,000's of thousands of new, or remodeled US homes, & they could not say anything about it, out of fear of losing their job." Americas Watchdog would like to hear from construction superintendents, or residential project managers who have substantial proof of national or regional homebuilders not paying taxes, on undocumented construction workers. Americas Watchdog contact is 866-714-6466, or contact the group via their web site at Http://HomeownersConsumerCenter.Com
(PRWEB) April 6, 2009 -- Americas Watchdog, its Corporate Whistle Blower Center & its Homeowners Consumer Center have been warning as far back as 2005, that national & regional US homebuilders were using millions of undocumented illegal aliens to build our nations homes, and for the most part not paying federal, or state taxes on the workers. Before the toxic Chinese drywall issue was discovered in 2008, Americas Watchdog called for construction defect attorneys nationwide to contact the group, fearing millions of defective homes in the US, that would leave innocent homeowners holding the bag on a house that was defective.
Had US citizens, or organized labor built these homes the Chinese toxic drywall, the toxix drywall issue that is raging in Florida, and will soon engulf the nation, may have been avoided. The criminal part of all of this is that, the national, or regional homebuilders used undocumented workers to build most of our nations housing since 2000, because they were cheap, because the workers did not care about federal labor laws, and rarely did the homebuilder, or their subcontractors withhold Federal or state taxes on what were clearly undocumented workers. Construction superintendents or residential project managers with substantial proof of the 1099 coyote subcontractor scheme should contact Americas Watchdog for participation in a reward program by calling 866-714-6466, or contacting the group via their web site at Http://HomeownersConsumerCenter.Com
How did the homebuilders get away with this? The homebuilders actual sub-contractors would set up phoney sub contractor groups, that were framers, dry wall hangers, roofers, cement finishers, electricians, painters, etc. This involved over a million undocumented Mexican, or Central Americans, all with phoney Social Security numbers, no real ID, they would be paid cash, and rarely if ever, did any of these workers or their homebuilder employers pay any state or federal taxes on the workers. "This scheme has cost the US taxpayers tens, and tens, and tens of billions of dollars, and as of yet their have been no widespread prosecutions."
"In 2006, Americas Watchdog met with an senior IRS special agent in Los Angeles, we presented her with proof, offered to take IRS teams to Arizona, Florida & Texas, and she acted like we were speaking Martian. The IRS had no interest." Now there are over 100,000 new homes in Florida that are worthless, because undocumented workers installed toxic Chine drywall in them & said nothing out of fear the homebuilder would fire them.
"So now we have hundreds of thousands of new US homes, or remodeled homes built in the US since 2001 and the men who installed the toxic Chinese drywall, could not say anything about the fact it was bad, out of fear of being fired, or worse. In the case of Florida alone its not 20,000 or 30,000 new homes, its more like 100,000+ new homes, and that is just one state. Americas Watchdog expects to find the same kind of staggering numbers of toxic drywall houses in Texas the American Southwest California, Nevada & Arizona), the Mountain west (Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Idaho), the entire East Coast & the Homebuilders paid no taxes on the majority of the undocumented workers & the IRS did nothing, even though they were told about it as far back as 2005, when most of the toxic Chinese drywall was being installed. "Again if US citizens, or organized labor would have been installing this toxic Chinese drywall, we think they would have refused to install it, because it frequently smelled bad, it would have made the workers sick, and it did not cut or hang like US made drywall."
"So now we have two really big problems, we have hundreds of thousands of possibly toxic new or remodeled homes, that have toxic Chinese drywall in them, if the installation occurred after 2000, & we have national & regional homebuilders who forgot to withhold federal or state taxes on the illegal/undocumented workers because they used a 1099 subcontractor scam to avoid paying these taxes." Americas Watchdog warned about this as far back as 2005 & the US IRS did nothing. Americas Watchdog warned about undocumented workers & possible construction defects nationwide as far back as 2005 & no one listened. "To repeat now we have possible hundreds of thousands of new or remodeled homes with toxic Chinese drywall, that are all but worthless, and a federal government including the US EPA or the US IRS that have yet to do a thing."
Americas Watchdog & its Homeowners Consumer Center will give its full cooperation to the US IRS & EPA to help in this national environmental disaster, and the worst cases of tax fraud in US history. Former or current residential construction superintendents or project managers who have specific information about the 1099 tax fraud scam with national or regional homebuilders should contact the Homeowners Consumer Center for a possible reward at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via their web site at Http://HomeownersConsumerCenter.Com
If you live in a home that pssible has toxic Chinese drywall in it please contact the Homeowners Consumer Center at 866-714-6466 or contact the group via their web site at Http://HomeownersConsumerCenter.Com
Americas Watchdog & its Homeowners Consumer Center are all about homeowner, and taxpayer protection, as well as corporate integrity.

Publisher Launches Trade Magazine for Metro Atlanta Commercial Construction Industry
Premiere issue of monthly commercial construction trade magazine features Choate Construction
Atlanta (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 6, 2009 -- Though they work in one of the largest commercial construction industries in the Southeast, metro Atlanta construction professionals have not had a media source to turn to for local news and information exclusively about their industry. Publisher Lawrence Cohen is looking to change that. Cohen's company, REM Publishing, recently launched Commercial Building Savvy Magazine, a new bi-monthly trade magazine for metro Atlanta's commercial construction community.
No stranger to trade publications, REM is already well-known for R.E. Real Estate Magazine, one of the most well-read journals for metro Atlanta's residential real estate industry. Their new magazine, which launched in the fall of 2008, will initially direct-mail to approximately 5,000 commercial building professionals, including developers, general contractors, subcontractors, architects, facility managers, vendors and service suppliers.
Designed to fill a huge void in the industry by providing both local and national news and information about commercial construction, the publication will focus on the positive accomplishments of the people and organizations involved in this exciting industry. Each issue, readers will be treated to the most important news about the people and companies in the area, as well as feature profiles about outstanding companies, products and technical innovations, local events and a Builders' Resource Directory.
Commercial Building Savvy has already allied itself with several key commercial trade associations, including the American Subcontractors' Association, American Institute of Architects, Master Roofing Contractors Association of Georgia, Georgia Wall & Ceiling Industries Association, and the International Facility Management Association. Association members will all receive the magazine free of charge.
"Metro Atlanta has one of the most dynamic commercial construction industries in the country," said publisher Lawrence Cohen. "With over five million people, the area continues to lead the country in both population and business growth. Commercial Building Savvy fills a much needed gap in the industry for a local commercial construction trade publication. The magazine delivers information that is important, interesting and relevant to the local market. Commercial Building Savvy focuses exclusively on the news, people, events and legislation happening here in Metro Atlanta."
In their premier issue, Commercial Building Savvy's cover story is a profile on the well-known Choate Construction Company. One of the largest general contractors in the southeast, the award winning company provides preconstruction, construction, program management and design/build services to virtually all markets including residential, manufacturing, office, retail, etc., with one of the industry's strongest reputations as a quality construction company.
Founded in 2008, Commercial Building Savvy is a trade magazine for and about the metro Atlanta commercial construction industry. Featuring profiles of local contractors, subcontractors, and other construction-related businesses, as well as educational columns, events calendars and local news, the magazine offers a fresh, new local perspective of the people and businesses that make up the local commercial building industry. Global Cement Market to Reach 3.77 billion tonnes by 2012, According to New Report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc.
Emerging markets in Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Middle East & Africa are driving global demand for cement. China alone produces and consumes slightly less than half the cement produced and consumed worldwide. China and India, the second largest producer and consumer of cement, together account for more than 50% of the total cement produced and consumed in the world. Developed markets including the US, Western Europe and Japan are mature and currently facing declining demand due to the global economic crisis.
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) April 6, 2009 -- Recent years have seen the cement industry grow dynamically with most of the actions taking place in emerging economies. Despite the ongoing financial crisis the global economy is facing, the need for housing and continued government investments in infrastructure development by emerging economies is offsetting downturn in mature markets. Though, at present, demand is growing, but at a decelerated pace, the phase is momentary. Long-term projections indicate healthy demand growths, as world economy stabilizes and construction activity picks up across global markets into the next decade.
China, followed by India, United States, Japan and Russia, represent the largest producers and consumers of cement worldwide. Other countries featuring prominently on the global cement space include Spain, South Korea, Italy, Iran, Turkey, and Brazil. Significant capacity expansions in China, India, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Turkey, Egypt, and Brazil are underway and planned for the next few years.
Portland cement is the most widely consumed cement variety worldwide. The largest geographic market is Asia-Pacific, and the fastest growth is forecast to take pace in the Middle East & Africa and Asia-Pacific markets. In fact, China alone consumes more than half the global Portland cement.
Blended cement, the less environment polluting varieties, would see demand grow in the next few years, as their favorable environmental profile and excellent performance wins end-user interest. Again Asia-Pacific represents the largest geographic market, though share of Europe also stands out. Fastest growth would take place in Asia-Pacific, as demand is expected to increase over the forecast years.
In terms of market, China remains the largest regional market, where Construction Contractors, followed by Concrete Products Producers represent the largest markets for cement. The fastest growing market, however, would be Ready-mix Concrete Producers, as they benefit from ban imposed by the Chinese government on mortar and concrete mixing at construction sites.
Meanwhile, the second largest regional market, India, would see cement demand advance the fastest for the Ready-mix Concrete Producers market. Though demand from Consumers, the largest cement market, would continue to grow, it would lose share to Ready-mix Concrete Producers and Concrete Products Producers markets.
The global marketplace is characterized by participants such as Lafarge (France), Holcim (Switzerland), Cemex (Mexico), HeidelbergCement (Germany) and Italcementi (Italy), which represent the five leading manufacturers of cement. Other international cement makers include Buzzi Unicem (Italy), Cimpor (Portugal), CRH (Ireland), Votorantim Cimentos (Brazil), Sumitomo Osaka Cement (Japan), Taiheiyo Cement (Japan), and Anhui Conch (China). Other leading regional market leaders include: Anhui Conch, China Shanshui, China National Building Material, and Tangshan Jidong in China; and ACC, Ambuja Cement, Grasim, UltraTech, and India Cements in India.
"Cement: A Global Strategic Business Report" from Global Industry Analysts, Inc. provides a comprehensive review of market trends, drivers, product profile, players, competition, recent developments, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic industry activities. Analysis is presented for major geographic markets such as the United States, Japan, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and Middle East & Africa. Global and regional analytics are provided for product segments including Portland Cement, Blended Cement, and Special / Other Cement. Demand is also analyzed in terms of end-use sectors including Residential Building sector, Non-Residential Building sector, and Non-building sector for select markets. Cement demand is also analyzed by markets including Ready-mix Concrete Producers, Construction Contractors, Concrete Products Producers, Consumer, and Other for major markets, including China and India.

Trade Price Conservatories Expand Into Europe
Trade Price Conservatories announce their expansion into Europe, accepting order from France, Italy and Hungary.
Bournemouth, Dorset (PRWeb UK/PRWEB ) April 6, 2009 -- Trade Price Conservatories would like to announce their expansion into the European Union.
The Dorset based company who traditionally supply DIY conservatories, windows and doors to clients throughout the UK have started accepting orders from countries around Europe including France, Italy and Hungary.
Having recently expanded their product range by adding DIY windows and doors to their offering, owner Karl Muspratt sees huge potential in the expansion into European. Karl commented: "2009 despite the current economic climate is continuing to be a great year for Trade Price, our windows and doors are already proving very popular alongside the traditional offering of conservatories. I see huge potential for new business by being able to sell our products across the continent, with the economic downturn hitting other countries in Europe I am not surprised to see people overseas choosing to improve their homes rather than move as we have seen in the UK".
Despite the recession hitting very hard across the globe, economists are still predicting the worst is still to come. This effect on the housing markets has led to a huge fall in sales due to people spending money improving their homes by building conservatories, installing upvc windows and extensions rather than moving.
Trade Price Conservatories are a leading supplier of DIY conservatories, windows & doors nationwide in the UK. To see their range of conservatories and windows including the 0% finance range, see the company website.

NADCO Praises Senate on their Speedy Confirmation of Karen Gordon Mills as New SBA Administrator
NADCO, the professional trade association of the nation's SBA 504 Certified Development Companies (CDCs), welcomed the news today that Karen Gordon Mills has been confirmed as the new SBA Administrator. NADCO President and CEO, Chris Crawford, congratulated Administrator Mills and immediately invited her to speak at the association's up-coming annual meeting in San Diego.
(Vocus/PRWEB ) April 6, 2009 -- Mr. Crawford, stated the SBA 504 industry is very pleased with the appointment of Administrator Mills to head the SBA. He pointed out that Administrator Mills has been involved with the Small Business Administration's (SBA's) agenda since joining President Obama's transition team last fall to oversee the agency. "Ms. Mills has been working on agency lending issues with NADCO since her participation in the Obama Transition Team, and her depth of experience in the financial programs has been evident from the beginning. We believe that she has the vision to bring the SBA’s loan programs back to the forefront of small business lending and can be responsive to the changing needs of small business during this recession."
Crawford said that NADCO is looking forward to working together with Administrator Mills and the SBA to deliver whatever financial services are made available in the coming months through the new stimulus legislation. At a recent Government Relations Summit in Washington of NADCO member Certified Development Companies, it became apparent that many CDCs were being contacted by small business borrowers who urgently needed financial assistance to remain solvent. Crawford went on to say "We recognize that SBA will be making available additional capital to our 504 borrowers to assist them and their businesses.
During her confirmation hearing on April 1, Mills agreed with Senator Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, that it is vital to implement the new Business Stabilization Loan Program that was included in the Stimulus legislation as quickly as possible. She also indicated that her vision for the agency included building up it's core loan programs - the
SBA 504 loan program and the 7(a) program. She also cited the need to continue to utilize technology to improve business processes at the Agency for the benefit of borrowers and lending partners.
Crawford commented that the SBA is uniquely situated to provide assistance to America's small businesses since the Agency has a very effective network of offices across the country as well as having their lending partners the Certified Development Companies and banks that can reach out to small business owners across the country. "The CDC industry stands ready and able to assist small business owners with commercial real estate financing as interest rates continue to decline and more and more commercial real estate continues to come on the market. We have been providing SBA 504 loans for over twenty years, providing over $112 billion in financing to America's small business entrepreneurs and look forward to doing so for many years to come."

Worldwide First - Heald Crash Rated Roadblocker Triumphs Again
Heald Roadblocker passes crash test, stopping a 30 tonne truck travelling at 50mph, and continues to operate with no foundation damage.
Hornsea, East Yorkshire, UK (PRWEB) April 5, 2009 -- Following the recent crash tests on their HCR4M1200RB Roadblocker, in line with the British Standard PAS68, are pleased to announce the success of another test - a worldwide first for the Roadblocker! It not only stopped a 30 tonne truck travelling at 50mph, but was fully functional after the test, and the foundation was undamaged.
Tested at MIRA on Friday 20th March 2009 the Roadblocker was impacted with a fully loaded 30 tonne truck travelling at 50mph and not only withstood the impact with zero penetration but also operated afterwards with no damage to the foundation. SAKAI's SW990 Brings Powerful Performance to Paving Projects
SAKAI's New 990 Helps Contractors Gain Asphalt Jobs and Bonus Dollars.
(PRWEB) April 5, 2009 -- Sakai America's new SW990 double drum, high-frequency vibratory asphalt roller brings powerful performance to asphalt paving projects with its 4000 vpm, Deutz engine and dual drum drive system.
The SW990 offers a drum width of 84" and 4000 vpm, which allows for 10-12 impacts per foot at 4.55 mph. This feature allows for faster rolling speeds while maintaining the proper impacts per foot to achieve compaction. The drums are also machined smooth and edges are rounded for a smooth mat surface. The SW990 is the perfect roller for compaction of county, state and interstate highways and airport runways.
The SW990's powerful yet fuel efficient Deutz TCD2012L06-2V water-cooled, turbo-charged diesel engine boasts 166hp. This engine fully complies with the current emission standards and is mounted on rubber isolators to absorb vibration.
The SW990 also offers excellent traction with its dual drum drive system. This system eliminates bow wave build-up in the front of the machine. This drum system has been designed completely separate from the vibration system to minimize wear and tear. The machine's drive motors are cross mounted with the vibration motors balancing the weight from front to rear, as well as from left to right.
The operator platform is a rubber-isolated floating deck design, which minimizes vibration to the operator, reducing fatigue. The user-friendly operator's console rotates 180 degrees with the instrument panel rotating in conjunction with the seat. This ensures that the operator has the controls within easy reach and that the gauges are in view regardless of the seat's position. The control panel allows the operator to change the amplitude and frequency without getting off the roller, significantly reducing downtime. ROPS and seat belts are standard features on every Sakai roller sold in North America.
Sakai has also added their ExactCompact system as a standard feature to the SW990's control panel. The ExactCompact system measures impact spacing and determines the speed that the roller should travel to obtain exact compaction. Once targeted impact spacing has been determined on a test strip, the operator programs the settings into the system. While rolling, the operator simply adjusts ground speed until the green lights are illuminated on the ExactCompact meter. This innovative system simplifies and increases roller operation while ensuring proper compaction and eliminating extra passes.
Sakai's best-in-the-business spray system is another standard feature on the SW990, consisting of rustproof tanks, stainless steel pipes and brass nozzles that can easily be replaced by hand. The spray system also comes with a timer, triple filtration system to prevent clogging from debris and a pressurized, emergency back-up pump to provide water in the event of a pump failure.

Property Management Firm Will Deploy Property Management Specific Version of Bank Management System to Navigate Account and Signer Activity
Portland, ME (PRWEB) April 5, 2009 -- Speranza Systems, the leading provider of global bank account, bank mandate and bank relationship management systems, today announced that Riverstone Residential has licensed the Real Estate and Property Management version of the Speranza Command Center™. The system helps real estate firms manage the complexities and high volume of account and signatory requirements, and is available as a service or as an application. Speranza Command Center provides unique workflow components and generates the appropriate forms and documentation necessary to effectively administer bank accounts associated with real estate acquisitions.
Real estate and property management companies require specialized approvals, processes and forms of documentation for their corporate banking relationship. In addition, there is typically a high volume of activity as new properties are built, bought and sold. There are also unique legal requirements that require a customizable workflow for companies to stay on top of their paperwork.
"Speranza Command Center™ is expected to assist us in achieving even greater efficiencies with our banking processes," said Julie McDonald, treasury manager, from Riverstone Residential. "We look forward to implementing a more controlled, auditable environment."
Speranza Command Center™ is a Web-based platform that streamlines how companies interact with their financial institutions. Corporate finance teams and their banks use Speranza Command Center™ to automate the identification and authentication process, improve control and regulatory compliance, and improve the visibility on audit trails. The product streamlines several functions related to bank relations, including: exchanging banking mandates, opening a bank account, administrative changes related to the account (i.e., addresses, changing account name), adding/removing account services, adding/changing signers, and closing accounts.
"Companies in real estate and property management are faced with significant challenges in terms of bank relationship management because property under management may take different legal forms and forms of ownership," said Glen Solimine, chief executive officer of Speranza Systems. "The property manager is often tasked with opening, closing and maintaining accounts and signatory rights for accounts they do not own. We provide these companies with the ability to take control of their banking needs by automating processes that have traditionally caused headaches and delays."
About Speranza Command Center:
Delivered either as a subscription service or an installed application, the system helps you access, process, disburse, and audit all of the information related to your banking structure. More than that, the system serves as a centralized repository -- a "record of truth" -- for the myriad information about your bank relationships. Now, you can have a single source for all your global accounts, internal signatories, authorization thresholds, and supporting documentation -- all at your fingertips.
The System will help you:
* Automate traditional paper-based processes for account and signer management
* Mitigate risks and exposure associated with unauthorized access to corporate accounts
* Accelerate cycle times associated with account openings/modification and signer and mandate changes
* Facilitate audit-support information at the touch of a button
* Help ensure corporate governance is enacted within every transaction

Leonardo Academy Announces 2009 Survey of the Costs and Benefits of LEED for Existing Buildings, Inviting All LEED-EB Certified Buildings to Participate
Leonardo Academy has announced the initiation of its 2009 Survey of the Costs and Benefits of LEED for Existing Buildings.
Madison, Wisconsin (PRWEB) April 4, 2009 -- Leonardo Academy has announced the initiation of its 2009 Survey of the Costs and Benefits of LEED for Existing Buildings. This survey is gathering ongoing operating cost data for LEED-EB certified buildings and LEED-EB implementation cost data for buildings that have not yet provided this information.
Leonardo Academy is updating its first survey that was carried out in 2007. At the time of the 2007 survey, only 53 buildings were certified LEED-EB. Since then, the number of certified buildings has grown more than threefold and the years of post-certification operation data available have grown. In addition, there are buildings certified under LEED-EB O&M as well as under the earlier versions of LEED-EB. We now have the opportunity to capture this additional data and expand our understanding of the costs and benefits associated with LEED-EB.
Leonardo Academy invites participation in the survey by all owners and managers of LEED-EB certified buildings. Those who participated in the 2007 survey are encouraged to provide ongoing building operating cost data for the years following certification.

Solar Partnership Offers Keys to Small Business Prosperity and Rich Stimulus Package Perks for Those Hardest Hit by Unemployment
The Non-Profit American Solar Energy Society & Global Solar Experts CONERGY Shed Light On How Struggling Professionals Experiencing Construction Obstruction Can Realize Sustained Profitability In America's New Clean Energy Economy.
Boulder, CO (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 3, 2009 -- There's a light at the end of the job loss tunnel for many of those most adversely impacted by today's dismal unemployment numbers. According to today's U.S. Bureau of Labor statistics, another 663,000 Americans have joined the ranks of the unemployed. Unemployment is now at 8.5%. This past quarter, unemployment rates for construction and extraction occupations soared from 11.4 to 22.3%¹
Contractors, home builders, electricians, welders, roofers, engineers, architects, glazers, building managers and others feeling the pain of this economy's 'construction obstruction' can learn how to successfully realize the promise of the Obama Administration's Clean Energy Economy at the non-profit American Solar Energy Society's (ASES') SOLAR SUCCESS!™ Training Event, May 11-14, 2009, underwritten by the solar experts at Conergy.
The event -- a not-for-profit training event and therefore tax deductible as specified in current tax code -- is co-located at the 38th annual ASES National Solar Conference in Buffalo, NY. Register at www.Solar2009.org. Last month, U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis announced that the Obama Administration is making more than $3.5 billion to states for education, training and re-employment services.
So where's the opportunity?
In his address to the U.S. Congress on February 24, President Barack Obama committed to investing $15 billion a year to create conditions that will double the amount of renewable energy produced in America in the next three years. The investments create fertile ground for thousands of businesses and entrepreneurs to engage in renewable energy innovations that make solar affordable for businesses, home owners and public agencies, while helping them save billions of dollars on their energy bills.
"Many of those engaged in the construction trades don't realize that their skill sets and companies can be efficiently transitioned into the burgeoning business of solar energy," said Donald Chung, Managing Director of Distribution for Conergy Americas, a full-service wholesale distributor serving a network of over 1,000 solar energy dealers and installers across the U.S. "They already possess about 80% of the knowledge and capabilities needed to be successful in solar," he said. "With a decade of market experience and a 1 Gigawatt global solar energy portfolio, we at Conergy have the expertise, suppliers, logistics infrastructure and financial service network to give those wishing to diversify into solar the additional 20% they need to succeed in our industry." Nearly one in 10 of the solar energy systems designed, distributed or installed in the world have the power of Conergy behind them.
"The SOLAR SUCCESS!™ workshop is designed to provide essential industry insight to those interested in breaking into the business and contributing to the momentum of our new Clean Energy Economy," added Chung. "While the construction industry has been heavily affected by the current economic downturn, the solar industry has been growing at a clip of over 30% per year -- and it is projected to maintain that growth over the next few years. Never has this industry held more promise for those looking to diversify and build their businesses -- or parlay their expertise into rewarding career opportunities," he said.
SOLAR SUCCESS!™ offers a menu of over 30 interactive sessions for entrepreneurs in two, four or six-day tracks (Solar Success! for Start-ups, Solar Success! Fast Track, and Solar Success! All Access) depending on their level of business exposure. Sessions are organized in the following tracks:
* System Design and Installation: Industry best practices, technical, code-compliant design & installation practices for optimal system performance, NABCEP-approved training and OSHA requirements for installers and project managers;
* Manufacturer Training: Hands-on training from renowned industry manufacturers covering product features and benefits, system performance and new product introduction;
* Business & Project Finance Training: Tools and services to accelerate sales and streamline small business operations;
* Sales & Marketing Strategy: Identifying and understanding what motivates customers in today's economy, market incentives and financing options, state renewable portfolio standards overview, effective lead generation through marketing and public relations campaigns and positioning your business for rapid success.
Last year, over 500 professionals participated in the event, making it the largest installer training in the industry. After training, participants have access to the entire SOLAR 2009 trade show floor, where they can network and take deeper dives into key subject matter with hundreds of industry leaders, including manufacturers, installers, researchers, scientists, engineers, investors, analysts, educators and public officials. To learn more about SOLAR SUCCESS!™ costs, content and accommodations, please visit www.Solar2009.org.
The rays of opportunity solar brings to today's economic climate are clear. The ASES Green Jobs Report asserts that as many as 37 million U.S. jobs can be generated by the renewable energy and energy efficiency industries by 2030. It concludes that renewable energy and energy efficiency have the potential to energize and employ nearly 17% of the future U.S. workforce over the next two decades. Ninety percent of those jobs are anticipated to be in the private sector.
According to ASES Conference Director Becky Campbell-Howe, today's interest in renewable energy is unprecedented. "With enticing federal tax credits, billions of dollars in grants and loans, state-funded cash rebates, renewable energy portfolio standards and a groundswell of consumer support for sustainable solutions that promote energy independence, the economics of renewable energy have never been more compelling," she said. "Solar energy is not just good for the environment, it's a job-creating, business-building, revenue-generating revolution whose time has come."
About ASES:
For more than 50 years the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) has been leading national efforts to promote education, public outreach, and research about solar energy and other sustainable technologies. ASES produces the annual SOLAR 2009 conference, the National Solar Tour, Solar Today magazine, and the ASES Green Jobs Report. Please visit www.ases.org for more information.

CoSign Digital Signature Solution Receives Award at FIATECH
ARX, the 2008 Life Cycle Data Management & Information Integration CETI Award Recipient, will be at the 2009 FIATECH event to receive its award and present at the conference. The presentation will address Braun Intertec's specific use of the CoSign® digital signature solution.
Las Vegas, Nevada (PRWEB) April 3, 2009 -- ARX (Algorithmic Research), a leading provider of digital signature solutions (standard electronic signatures), will receive its 2008 CETI Award for Braun Intertec's implementation of the CoSign digital signature solution at the CETI Gala the evening of April 7. During the 2009 FIATECH Technology Conference & Showcase April 6-8, ARX will also be exhibiting its digital signature solution and providing a presentation. During the presentation, Shahar Malina, ARX's Strategic Planning Manager, will detail how the implementation of a digital signature improves cycle time, streamlines review processes, secures collaborative information, and reduces overall costs in engineering organizations. Joining Mr. Malina will be Braun Intertec's IT Director, Brian Hase. Mr. Hase will discuss Braun Intertec's successful use of the CoSign digital signature solution.
The FIATECH Technology Conference unites the leaders of the capital projects industry and helps identify specific areas where technology is void or needs improvement. Under FIATECH's mission to explain, educate, and address areas where technology is lacking, ARX's presentation will focus on the technology gaps that a digital signature solution, and CoSign in particular, can bridge for organizations in the capital projects industry.
"CoSign facilitates secure collaborative work and streamlines processes by allowing our engineers to digitally sign e-drawings, as well as Excel, Word, PDF and other electronic documents," said Brian Hase. "Since signature verification doesn't entail any software installment on the receiving end, we use it to communicate with our partners, in addition to our internal needs."
Mr. Hase continued, "We returned our investment in CoSign within 12-15 months of implementation, and estimate our ongoing annual savings at over $16,000. By reducing our use of paper and scanning we not only go green, but in some cases, have reduced cycle-time from data entry to report delivery by 90%."
"With the event's attendees representing engineering organizations interested in solving industry-wide technological challenges, The FIATECH event is an ideal setting to present the benefits that the CoSign digital signature solution provides for this specific demographic," said Mike Milton, VP Sales, Americas, ARX.
Mr. Malina and Mr. Hase will give their presentation on April 6th from 5:05 - 5:45pm. During the event, ARX will be exhibiting its CoSign digital signature solution at booth #5.

Tremco Acquires Canam Building Envelope Specialists
Acquisition includes the purchase of Zerodraft weatherproofing division and enhances facility asset management capabilities.
Beachwood, Ohio (PRWEB) April 3, 2009 -- Already a leading provider of non-residential and residential construction products, systems and services, Tremco Incorporated has taken a significant step forward in helping customers manage their facilities for greater energy efficiency by acquiring Canam Building Envelope Specialists (Canam) of Mississauga, Ontario. Zerodraft, a related company that provides specialized retrofit weatherstripping and distributes a variety of related insulation and sealant products, is also part of the acquisition. Terms were not disclosed.
Canam and its team of facility specialists will become part of the Tremco Roofing and Building Maintenance Division's subsidiary, Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. (WTI), while Zerodraft joins Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing.
Canam is one of the leading building envelope contracting firms in North America, with more than 25 years of experience. Its contracting and consulting services focus on air sealing and air barrier systems, including new construction and retrofit contracting work, design consultation, field-testing, and installation of a variety of systems. Building owners and property managers use these services to address such issues as thermal discomfort, mold and other moisture problems, and ice damming. Typical building envelope upgrades lead to energy savings that contribute to a significant return on investment.
"This acquisition makes excellent strategic sense for both Tremco and Canam Building Envelope Specialists," said Deryl Kratzer, president of Tremco's Roofing and Building Maintenance Division. "Combining our companies enhances our building envelope and energy management expertise, enabling us to pursue growth opportunities that otherwise would be unavailable. Canam's relationships with energy service companies, coupled with our large sales force, will help expand our presence within commercial, industrial and public sector markets. Canam's proprietary software is used to determine energy savings and calculate the payback period to justify the investment in building envelope programs. Through this software, we will be able to help our customers improve the energy efficiency of their facilities while lowering operational costs."
According to Chuck Houk, president of Tremco Commercial Sealants & Waterproofing, "Zerodraft has an excellent line-up of products that allow customers to improve the energy efficiency of their homes and/or place of business. We believe this complements our strategy of providing sustainable building envelope solutions."
Bill Boyd, business manager of Canam Building Envelope Specialists, said "We are excited about the possibilities that this relationship presents, because it allows us to offer our customers additional services as we blend our experience with Tremco's comprehensive roofing and building envelope solutions, people, and technical expertise."
"This is an exciting time in Tremco's 80-year history," Kratzer said. "With actions such as adding Canam Building Envelope Specialists and Zerodraft to our team, we are able to provide our customers with an increasing number of products, services and capabilities that can extend the useful lives of their facilities at a lower cost. Our goal is to be the first company that comes to mind for building envelope support."

WTS Paradigm Successfully Implements First Fenestration Dealer ERP Software Solution - DealerPoint Initial Implementation Marks New Approach in Window & Door Market
WTS Paradigm, the leader in window and door manufacturing and sales software, announced today the completion of their first implementation for their new dealer software solution, DealerPoint, with Westside Door & Moulding of Los Angeles.
Middleton, Wis. (PRWEB) April 3, 2009 -- WTS Paradigm, the leader in window and door manufacturing and sales software, announced today the completion of their first implementation for their new dealer software solution, DealerPoint, with Westside Door & Moulding of Los Angeles.
Westside Door & Moulding, commonly known as the "Best Little Doorhouse in Town," and the first to install WTS Paradigm's customizable software, sought an industry and dealer-specific software to meet their needs in the commercial window and door business. Westside Door & Moulding has grown steadily over the past several years and is one of the more influential dealers in the Los Angeles area. Their unmatched experience and dedication to customer service have allowed them to sustain their business through the recent downturn. Before implementing WTS Paradigm's DealerPoint, they did not have an automated process for managing workflow and inventory, scheduling shipments and resources, as well as tracking orders and margins.
WTS Paradigm's DealerPoint provided a solution to fill the gaps that remained in the "homegrown" systems previously in use by Westside Door & Moulding. Furthermore, the performance of the new system has accelerated individual productivity at the company. It is especially easy to quote and order products when the vendor is a WTS Paradigm CenterPoint manufacturer. Vendor systems will launch within DealerPoint, requiring no additional data entry or estimating, making the quoting and ordering process extremely fast and 100% accurate. Complete with all functions needed to run a fenestration resell shop including multiple-vendor quoting, order management, purchasing, receiving, and inventory and shipping capabilities, DealerPoint will give Westside Door & Moulding the ability to function more efficiently. This will enable a steadier workflow and ultimately, increases in sales, profitability, and cash collections.
"In the past we've used standard ERP software, and even have had other customized systems. Until we were able to connect with WTS Paradigm, we never felt fully satisfied to the point where we felt comfortable that we had a system that would meet our needs for providing better customer service and improve our overall efficiency. WTS Paradigm's user support, attention to detail, and customer service has our entire staff feeling comfortable with the new system," said Howard Wizenberg, President of Westide Door & Moulding.

Western New York Company Seeks Stimulus Funds to Open "Green" Manufacturing Facility with Innovative Technology that Turns Waste Tires into Tire Logs™
Re-Tread Products (RTP) has developed an innovative green building material made from recycled tires called the "Tire Log™," has moved to the production stage and hopes that the assistance of small business stimulus funds will allow it to open its first manufacturing facility in the fall of 2009. This investment in our Next Generation of Innovators and Green Collar Job Creators may serve as a model for New York and the "Green Economy" that President Obama and Senator Schumer have supported throughout the creation of the stimulus plan.
Great Valley, N.Y. (PRWEB) April 2, 2009 -- RTP's Tire Log™ is made from waste tires and may be utilized for civil engineering as well as commercial and residential construction projects. RTP's recycling method is based on a simple and energy efficient approach to recycling tires. The net result is a sustainable new green building material that may be used for Civil Engineering Projects, Flood Control, Levees, Retaining Walls, Housing, and Earthquake Survivability.
Senator Schumer was instrumental in the early stages of the Tire Logs™ development when he issued a press release in June of 2006 entitled: "With Hurricane Season Upon Us, Schumer Touts WNY Company Developing 'Tire Log' For Use In Levee Construction". Since that time RTP has completed two separate R&D projects sponsored by the New York State Department of Economic Development, Environmental Services Unit.
The initial study was to determine the feasibility of utilizing the newly patented Tire Log™ for various civil engineering projects such as levees, retaining walls and as a reusable replacement for sandbags for flood control as well as military bunker applications.
The summary of the independent engineering tests conducted during this study read as follows: "The inherent characteristics of this unique building material make it capable of withstanding deformations that would crack or break conventional building materials. Furthermore, the testing of individual units demonstrates that after test loads are released the product is capable of returning to its original shape. Due to this "bend but does not break" characteristic of the Tire Log™ it may be well suited for building applications that are prone to severe and unusual stresses/shock forces such as explosions, earthquakes, wave action, water and ice pressures, flying debris and vehicle impacts."
Due to the success of that initial demonstration project RTP was awarded a second R&D grant to develop an automated manufacturing system to enable them to mass produce the Tire Log™ in a cost effective manner in order to meet the expected market demands. With the successful completion of the machine design RTP in now prepared to open a pilot manufacturing facility in Salamanca, NY. This incubator green manufacturing facility will enable RTP to test and refine its manufacturing process and will serve as a model for future facilities through out the country.
With stimulus funding RTP could have this pilot factory operating by next fall. Each factory will produce 10 -20 full time manufacturing jobs as well as utilizing large quantities of waste tires to produce an innovative high value construction material. RTP will partner with municipal waste facilities to turn their waste tires into this valuable building product that may be utilized in many of the proposed stimulus infrastructure projects such as levees, flood/erosion control projects, highway projects, etc.
The applications for the Tire Log™ seem to be as vast as the imagination and creativity of its different potential end users. Due to the Tire Logs™ energy absorbing, "bends but doesn't break" characteristics it may have its most profound value in areas that are prone to earthquakes or other extreme forces such as wave action, explosions or vehicle impacts.
The Tire Log™ will be a practical alternative for lumber and concrete in a wide variety of residential and commercial applications and is made from a "raw material" that can be found nearly everywhere. It is an excellent substitute for chemically treated timbers in applications requiring an inert, non-biodegradable material that won't leach toxins into the environment. RTP recently built a "Tire Log™ Cabin" to demonstrate its potential as an alternative building material in areas that are prone to earthquakes and hopes to have it tested for this application at the University at Buffalo's Earthquake Simulators, known also as Shake Tables.
In Senator Schumer's initial press release after Hurricane Katrina he stated; "This is a great Western New York Company making a great product out of recycled tires that the entire country will benefit from. Everyone watched their televisions last fall, wondering what they could do to help after Hurricane Katrina. RTP jumped into action and is developing a material that will play a vital role in protecting communities nationwide in the near future. Companies like this are essential to the revitalization of the region, and I will continue to help with the necessary tools as research and development of the Tire Log continues."
With the necessary tools now developed RTP hopes that stimulus funds will help it to open its first manufacturing facility in the fall of 2009.

Who Will Be The First To Represent Women In The Tool Department?
Until now there has been little interest in meeting the needs of the more than one million women in the construction industry. More specifically women have had little choice but to use awkwardly fitting construction gear such as tool belts, work boots, and work clothes that were designed to fit men. GirlyLock LLC is stepping up to the plate to not only fill the needs of women in this industry but to make retailers and construction companies aware that this need exists.
Milwaukee, WI (PRWEB) April 2, 2009 -- Announcing the launch of GirlyLock.com. A company whose mission is to provide professional grade construction gear with the fit and function designed specifically for women working in the trade. Their top selling products are construction quality pink tool belts and pink hard hats.
Michelle Swamp started GirlyLock out of a basic personal need to find products that were durable yet fit a woman's shape properly and allowed for a little feminine flair. She says, "Just because I work in a traditionally male field, doesn't mean I should have to look like a man."
Michelle, who is also co-owner of CBS Construction, has been working in the trade for 15 years. During that time she has struggled with awkward fitting man sized tool belts, men's work boots, and men's work clothes as women's versions of sturdy work gear was simply nowhere to be found.
With the rise in popularity of home make-over and do-it-yourself TV shows, the public is becoming more aware of women in construction and women DIYers. In the past few years gimmicky pink toolbelts and pink handled tools have started popping up. The challenge is, these are not professional grade products designed to last through day to day use on the job.
That's when Michelle decided she was going to represent the "Pink Collar Worker" (a phrase she has coined for all the females out there working in construction and other traditional blue collar trades). Michelle states that According to the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), out of 10.1 million total people in construction, one million are women. "And," Michelle says, "Up until now, no one has taken women's needs for sturdy work gear seriously." And so GirlyLock, LLC was born.
Michelle took her own on-the-job experience to design and manufacture her own pink tool belts that are sturdy enough to last for years on the job AND fit women of all sizes comfortably. They also come in blue, black, and tan because we are here to represent all women not just those who like pink! GirlyLock hard hats, which meet OSHA regulations and ANSI standards, come in neon pink, aqua blue, navy blue, and jet black. There is also a GirlyLock line of work clothing and accessories. Michelle is adding to the GirlyLock line regularly and eventually plans to encompass women's needs from every angle.
Michelle still has her work cut out for her in convincing the male dominated field that there is a need for women's work gear. But, GirlyLock has already seen some success. Home Depot carried the GirlyLock line of tool belts as a Christmas seasonal item and GirlyLock has sold thousands of products online all over the world . She is currently pursuing several large home and hardware stores to pick up the GirlyLock line. She encourages all women in the trade and DIYers to contact these types of stores and let them know you want gear for women (preferably GirlyLock brand!).
Until GirlyLock products become available in your local store they can be purchased at the GirlyLock.com online store or call 1-877-447-5956

RetroRenovation.com Shows Owners of Midcentury Homes How to 'Love the House You're in'
With growing interest in updating houses built in the 1940s, 50s and 60s, RetroRenovation.com launches additional features
Lenox, Mass. (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 2, 2009 -- Buy granite countertops, or shine up the old laminate? Glass mosaic, or clean grout for the pink bathroom tile? New drywall, or keep the cherry paneling in the den?
In today's economy, owners of older homes are looking at their homes' original features in a new, more value-conscious light -- and tackling their home improvement projects starting with working what they have. At the same time, interest in midcentury homes is increasing. In response to this growing trend, RetroRenovation.com has launched additional features to help homeowners who are updating houses built in the 1940s, 50s and 60s.
"Even when money is tight, people want to continue with to improve their homes," says Pam Kueber, publisher of RetroRenovation.com. "The good news for owners of midcentury homes, is that preserving and playing up the design of your home's retro features is not only frugal, the look is also in sync with the times -- unpretentious, comforting and stylish."
There were more than 30 million midcentury homes built all across North America from 1946 through the 50s and 60s. "A new generation of buyers is quickly growing to appreciate that even the smallest of these homes can have a special charm. They also are discovering that updates that complement a home's era won't seem dated and can be a smart investment," Kueber adds.
Jeanne, of Dearborn, Mich., found RetroRenovation.com searching for ways to clean bathroom tile in the 1952 home she bought late last year. "I've noticed a trend with my home buying experiences," she said. "This is the fourth house I've owned in my adult life and each home was built in the late 40s/early 50s and purchased from the original owners. None of the homes were extensively updated, either, and had most of the original interiors intact. This home needs quite a bit of updating, and since I love midcentury modern, this blog is helping me get ideas and resources for hardware and more."
Another reader, Linda of Ottawa, Ontario, explains, "I plan to renovate my parents' postwar (circa 1947) Victory home later this year, mainly to increase its energy efficiency. I feel that these houses haven't gotten a lot of respect, and that's a shame because I think they represent an important part of our history. The blog has given me lots of ideas to do my parents' little house proud."
Readership of RetroRenovation.com has doubled over the past five months, and the site now reaches 50,000 readers monthly, Kueber says. There are more than 1,000 articles, with the site focusing on products and ideas suitable for a retro kitchen, retro bathroom and other spaces. The site also features readers and their homes, midcentury collectibles like furniture and lighting, and a forum to connect buyers and sellers of vintage steel kitchen cabinets. The latest update adds new pages and photo galleries and improved navigation.
"Today the number of products available to complement a midcentury home's original style are growing, because the interest -- and the need -- are there," Kueber says.
Facts about postwar homes:
* While many people associate ranch homes with this period, colonial and Cape styles also were very popular, and split levels started to appear by the mid-1950s. Most often, homes were a mix and match of styles both inside and out.
* Postwar homes were often no more than 1,000 s.f. in size. While small by recent standards, this compact footprint appeals to many homeowners interested in living in a space that consumes fewer resources. These homes also are often located in America's first "freeway suburbs" closer to urban cores, meaning a shorter commute and lower fuel costs.

Contractors Turn to Advanced Workforce Management Solutions
WebApps, Inc. a.k.a. SaaS.com (www.SaaS.com), a leading provider of Software as a Service (SaaS) with a major push in Workforce Management Solutions, recently partnered with Integrated Employer Solutions, Inc. (IES), a professional employer organization (PEO) based in Utah. With 75 percent of IES' client base being contractors, its clients' employees are constantly moving from site to site. That being the case, it would be extremely efficient for these clients to use an alternative data collection method aside from strictly traditional biometric readers at its base locations.
Branchburg, NJ (PRWEB) April 2, 2009 -- WebApps, Inc.
IES was reselling a previous provider's solution that was not working for one of its most loyal clients. "They are a service company that was going to 35 different locations each day, so it wasn't cost effective for them to purchase 35 different time clocks. With employees having the ability to visit approximately ten separate sites in a day, it's too hard for the client to keep track of them going from location to location with time clocks," stated Linda Nguyen, Human Resources Manager at IES. Since one of IES' primary concerns is delivering the highest level of customer service possible, it was time to find a new solution provider.
In the organization's search, IES came across two viable options to choose from; either SaaS.com, a privately held company, or a larger publicly held company. However, the answer Nguyen sought was found in SaaS.com's offering. "Telephony is the clear solution to this client's problem, and with SaaS.com's service, no hardware is required. Our client's employees could simply call in on any phone, and enter their employee number and the specific job's location code," commented Nguyen. "This gives our client the ability to see exactly how much time is spent at each location. The leading reason for finding a new solution was to help our clients save money, so we are certain we found our match."
Telephony is not the only data collection method SaaS.com offers. The organization provides a wide array of options. "The variety of data collection devices is a huge benefit because every client is looking for different functionality when it comes to time clocks. We will be able to attain a variety of business types with the additional workforce management services we're now offering through the SaaS.com partnership," explained Nguyen.
About Integrated Employer Solutions, Inc.

IDC Offers New Lower-Cost Upgrade Packages For Its Complete Line of Speedcheck Radar Speed Signs
Traffic-Calming Pros Can Now Cost-Effectively Add Scheduling Capabilities, Wireless Programming & Other Advanced Features To Existing Speedcheck Radar Speed Displays
Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) April 2, 2009 -- Information Display Company (IDC) today announced new lower cost pricing for upgrades to its complete line of radar speedcheck signs. The lower pricing will make it easier for school districts, city governments and other users to upgrade existing speedcheck displays with features and capabilities that expand their functionality and ease-of-use.
Proven to be a highly effective traffic-calming tool, radar speedcheck signs display the speed of passing cars, reminding drivers to focus on posted speed limits. Over the past several years, advances in technology and design have allowed Information Display Company to develop new display accessories that further enhance the usability, effectiveness and value of the traffic-calming signs.
"It's clear that the current economy has resulted in reduced budgets for many school districts, local governments and other loyal customers," said Gary ODell, president of Information Display Company. "It is our hope that the temporary new pricing will make it easier for our existing customers to implement the safety programs they need."
Some IDC speedcheck sign upgrades include:
* Scheduler - users can schedule the on/off operating times of the electronic display and any external devices attached. The sign can also be programmed to automatically switch to the proper speed in school zones and other places where the legal speed limit may vary depending upon the time of day or day of the week.
* TrafficAnalyzer™ - captures key information regarding vehicle average speeds, 85th percentile speeds and other data essential for monitoring traffic speed statistical data. Information obtained through TrafficAnalyzer provides a simple way to evaluate the effectiveness of traffic calming measures.
* DisplayManager™ - users can manage multiple displays wirelessly either at individual sites using a hand-held PDA or from a central office using a desktop computer.
* Flashers - an auxiliary set of lights mounted above or below the speedcheck sign that flash on and off when a driver reaches a preset rate of speed.
* Slow Down Message - the words "SLOW DOWN" can be displayed in red or amber for areas where more traffic calming emphasis is important.
Other upgrades include, solar power packages, and QuickChange™ Brackets. All upgrades are now available to current Information Display Company customers at a 20% discount through June 30, 2009.
For the past 15 years, Information Display Company has played a leading role in designing, testing and manufacturing radar speedcheck signs. Today, their traffic-calming radar speed signs are used in school zones, neighborhoods, rural roadways, work zones and other locations where driver and pedestrian safety is paramount. ConcreteNetwork.com Reveals Top 10 Areas in the United States for Decorative Concrete
Closing out the first quarter, web statistics generated by ConcreteNetwork.com reveal the top ten metropolitan areas in the US for decorative concrete services. More concrete contractors were contacted in these ten areas than any other major metropolitan area across the country to apply decorative concrete techniques in homes and businesses.
Yucaipa, CA (PRWEB) April 1, 2009 -- Decorative concrete has no doubt become a common staple in homes and businesses around the country. ConcreteNetwork.com, the leader in concrete information, has revealed its top ten areas across the country sparking the most interest in decorative concrete. Leading the pack is the state of Texas, with four of its major metropolitan areas included in the top ten.
The statistics illustrating these trends are derived from the site's tracking data, which shows the site generates over 900,000 visitors per month during its peak season, much more than any other site in its field. These statistics are useful to contractors, manufacturers and others in the industry that are looking for the "hot" markets across the country where decorative concrete is booming.
With an overwhelming amount of inquiries in the first quarter for local contractors and decorative concrete services in these areas, these are the top ten areas across the country:
1. Houston, TX
2. Dallas, TX
3. Los Angeles, CA
4. Denver, CO
5. Phoenix, AZ
6. Fort Worth, TX
7. Arlington, VA
8. Atlanta, GA
9. Long Island, NY
10. Austin, TX
"Decorative concrete is one of the hottest trends today," explains Jim Peterson, president of The Concrete Network. "The more understanding that a contractor has about what consumers are spending big money on, the more successful they will be. That's why we supply this valuable data to the market."
Houston, Texas continues to top the list as the number one area in the country for decorative concrete inquiries. This city is an area of growth in the housing and business development markets. And because of the recent devastation by Hurricane Ike in September of 2008, the area has continued to be an area for rebuilding and continued work opportunities.
Learn how homeowners, builders and designers are taking advantage of the versatility of decorative concrete, visit ConcreteNetwork.com's online photo gallery for examples of all that concrete has to offer.
Established in 1999, The Concrete Network's purpose is to educate consumers, builders, and contractors on popular decorative techniques and applications. These include stamped concrete, stained concrete floors, concrete countertops, polished concrete, and much more. Over 10 million people visit ConcreteNetwork.com per year to research, get ideas and to find a contractor.
The site excels at connecting buyers with local contractors in their area through its Find a Concrete Contractor service. The service provides visitors with a list of decorative concrete contractors throughout the U.S. and Canada, and is fully searchable by more than 20 types of decorative concrete work in over 200 regional areas throughout North America.

Petanque Bridging the Gap Between Retirees and Students
Students from the University of Georgia and members of Park Springs in Stone Mountain competed Sunday a gripping game of petanque, where the students returned to Athens victorious following a 15-6 win over Park Springs.
Stone Mountain, Ga. (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 1, 2009 -- Students from the University of Georgia and members of Park Springs in Stone Mountain competed Sunday a gripping game of petanque, where the students returned to Athens victorious following a 15-6 win over Park Springs. The tournament, held in Stone Mountain at Park Springs, an award-winning residential community offering a continuum of care for those over the age of 62, brought together Park Springs residents, The Silver Foxes, and graduate art students, La Boule Dawgs, in a friendly game of a sport that is has been played in Europe since the 6th century B.C. and is growing in popularity in the United States. Though defeated by the UGA students, Park Springs' top team was 3-1, loosing a very close game in the semi-finals.
The 14 students all came under the direction of visiting professor and 2008-2009 Dodd Chair, Dr. Paul Kos, from the Lamar Dodd School of Art and Franklin College of Arts and Sciences at UGA. The group is made up of graduate students in various fields including ceramics, drawing and painting and jewelry and metalwork. Kos uses the game of petanque as a metaphor for art making. "It has to do with the nature of the game and the nature of art, not being too close to the target, or too unoriginal in your art; and not being too far from the target, or too avant garde in your art," explains Kos.
Petanque, which is similar to boccie ball, is played on a rough course, and players take turns rolling a steel ball as close as possible to a target ball. Kos taught the students the game, which is a non-mandatory, extracurricular activity for those interested in playing, in just the last few months. None of the students had ever played petanque before, and the tournament at Park Springs was their first opportunity to compete with anyone outside of their own group.
Andy Isakson, Managing Partner of Isakson Living, developer of Park Springs, is an enthusiastic petanque player and president of the local chapter of the Federation of Petanque USA. Kos found Isakson through the Federation and initiated the tournament with Park Springs, whose members gladly accepted the challenge. The court at Park Springs was built in 2004 and members at the community play on a daily basis. A second match is planned in Athens for later this year. Kos, who has been playing petanque for 35 years, said that the petanque court at Park Springs is the best he has ever seen.
Park Springs enhances life for active seniors by providing independent residences alongside extensive amenities, on-site wellness and private health care facilities. The 398-home campus-style community is situated on 54 acres surrounded by Stone Mountain Park. A 64-suite health center provides assisted living, skilled nursing and dementia/Alzheimer's care. The campus style community boasts a 50,000 square foot clubhouse serving meals in four themed dining rooms daily and a 12,000 square foot fitness center with an indoor swimming pool. Heron Bay Traffic Signal Receives Henry County Approval
Signal at Highway 155 and Heron Bay Boulevard to be installed by July.
Atlanta, GA (Vocus/PRWEB ) April 1, 2009 -- Minerva Properties is pleased to announce the final approval of the traffic signal at the entrance of the Heron Bay Golf and Country Club community in Henry County. Construction of the traffic signal at the intersection of Highway 155 and Heron Bay Boulevard began in March and is expected to be completed by July 2009. Heron Bay is a 2,100 home master-planned community developed by Minerva Properties that opened in 2003. As the community has matured, Minerva has been instrumental in seeking approval, permitting and funding for the traffic signal.
At the original zoning of Heron Bay, Henry County Commissioner Warren Holder anticipated that a traffic signal would be beneficial for the county and future residents at Heron Bay and obtained Minerva's agreement to contribute toward the cost of the traffic signal.
In 2005, Minerva's engineers conducted a traffic warrant study which determined the traffic level met the Georgia Department of Transportation (GA DOT) requirements for the signal to be installed. The GA DOT approved the warrant study and Minerva arranged meetings with the Henry County Public Works Department and the GA DOT to initiate the signal design and obtain a GA DOT permit for the construction of the signal.
In the summer of 2008, Minerva coordinated a private-public funding agreement between an adjacent property owner and the Henry County Board of Commissoners. Final approval from the Board of Commissioners was received in March 2009. Minerva paid over $35,000 of the cost of the signal, an adjacent property owner contributed $20,000 and Henry County will fund the remaining $45,000.
About Heron Bay Golf and Country Club
Named the "Community of the Year" in 2005 by the Greater Atlanta Homebuilders Association, and awarded the 2006 Grand Award for Outstanding Development by the Georgia Urban Forest Council, Heron Bay Golf and Country Club, developed by Minerva Properties, is a master-planned community that is setting new standards for development in the Atlanta marketplace. Best Construction Website Trends Detailed in New Report from the Web Marketing Association
Updated Web Marketing Association' Internet Standards Assessment Report Includes Historical Data Derived from a Decade of Hosting Internet Award Competition, WebAwards, and Provides Best Practices for Construction Web Design
West Simsbury, CT (PRWEB) April 1, 2009 -- WebAward.org - The Web Marketing Association, host of leading website awards competition WebAwards, released the Internet Standards Assessment Report (ISAR) to help the construction industry learn to create more effective and engaging websites.
"As the standard of excellence for websites continues to increase, consumers (and WebAward judges) are increasingly picky about what they consider to be an effective website," said William Rice, president of the Web Marketing Association, Inc. "The best construction Websites are beginning to incorporate Flash and other multimedia into their pages. This results in a much richer online experience for potential customers and key stakeholders in development projects."
The WebAwards competition judges construction websites on seven criteria that combined create award-winning websites:
* Design
* Innovation
* Content
* Technology
* Interactivity
* Copywriting
* Ease of use
Construction Web sites have generally been in line with the overall ISAR index and has equaled or exceeded the index seven out of twelve years. Underperformance in four of the past six years has resulted in construction Web sites falling below the 5-year criteria benchmarks in all areas. Construction sites score strongest in design, content and ease of use. They post lower scores in innovation, technology, and interactivity.
The 2008 WebAward for Best Construction website went to Faction Media for the SpecJM.com Professionals Web Site.
Other past winners include:
* 2007 AxxiemCorp for mgaroofing.com
* 2006 Axxiem Corp for PAF Painting
