Galaxy Explorers Blast Off with Summer Ball

Locally based children’s organization, The Federation of Galaxy Explorers, will be hosting their first annual Summer Gala at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Alexandria, on Saturday, June 18.

(PRWEB) April 1, 2005 -- Locally based children’s organization, The Federation of Galaxy Explorers, will be hosting their first annual Summer Gala at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Alexandria, on Saturday, June 18.


The “Galaxy Ball” will last from 7 p.m. until midnight, and will include dancing, an awards ceremony and a silent auction. The 2005 Space Leadership Award will be presented to former Pennsylvania Congressman Robert S. Walker for his service as Chairman of the Commission on the Future of the United States Aerospace Industry, as a member of the Presidential Commission on the Implementation of the United States Space Exploration Policy. Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, noted astrophysicist and The Frederick P. Rose Director, Hayden Planetarium, New York City will receive the Space Education Inspiration Award for his role in educating and inspiring the general public.
