Covalys Biosciences and Cisbio International Announce Collaboration

Collaboration to Combine SNAP-tag™ and HTRF® Technologies
Covalys Biosciences AG and Cisbio international today announced a collaboration to develop products combining Covalys’ SNAP-tag protein labeling system with Cisbio’s homogeneous time resolved fluorescence (HTRF®) technology.

Witterswil, Switzerland and Bagnols-sur-Cèze, France (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) February 23, 2022 -- Covalys Biosciences AG and Cisbio international today announced a collaboration to develop products combining Covalys’ SNAP-tag protein labeling system with Cisbio’s homogeneous time resolved fluorescence (HTRF®) technology. These products will enable HTRF users to take advantage of the novel protein labeling technology enabled by the SNAP-tag.

Cisbio’s homogenous time-resolved fluorescence (HTRF®) system is a highly sensitive, robust technology for the detection of molecular interactions of proteins in vitro. It is widely used by the pharmaceutical industry for the high-throughput screening (HTS) stage of drug development. The SNAP-tag is an intelligent self-labeling protein tag which covalently links chemical probes to proteins of interest without prior purification. Under the agreement, Covalys receives the right to develop and sell SNAP-tag substrates containing Cisbio’s long-lifetime fluorophores (cryptates) which are essential for the development of HTRF® assays. SNAP-tag’s ability to label proteins without prior purification means that the resulting products will enable faster and simpler labeling of proteins with cryptates.

"By including Cisbio international’s well-known cryptates into our selection of SNAP-tag substrates we can expand our product portfolio in an area that is important to the High Throughput Screening world," said Dr Christoph Bieri, Covalys’ CEO. "We believe that our SNAP-tag technology can help to further enhance the utility of the powerful HTRF® technology."

"SNAP-tag represents a smart alternative to conventional chemical labeling and perfectly combines with the streamlined assay development procedures which HTRF® already offers to its customers," said Berthold Baldus, Managing Director of Cisbio In Vitro Technologies.

Covalys already offers a broad range of products to fluorescently label proteins using the SNAP-tag, both for live cell imaging and for protein-protein interaction assays in solution. The first products containing SNAP-tag substrate with Cisbio international’s cryptate are under development and will be made commercially available by Covalys during the second quarter of 2005.

Loadandtow.com to Target Pest Control Companies With the Highly Successful SuperSprings Product

LoadandTow.com is an authorized SuperSprings dealer on the web that offers a comprehensive service to it's customers including personal contact when requested. The SuperSprings product has proved itself to be highly effective in the pest control inductry.

(PRWEB) February 18, 2022 -- LoadandTow.com is pleased to announce it’s relationship with SuperSprings Inc. LoadandTow.com now offers the most comprehensive online store for this product as well as a commitment to back the sale with a personal touch. Owner Steve Bartleet will be on call to take product questions and to assist with any technical issues. This will make LoadandTow unique in online sales.

SuperSprings has been involved in the pest control industry for some time now having established a relationship with Home Team last March. Home Team is one of the largest pest control companies in the United States and is constantly updating it fleet and equipment.

As with most pest control companies, up fitment is required on light duty trucks resulting in stresses on existing suspension, shocks and tires.“ When the trucks are bought they are fine” says Steve, “ but once the customer adds a water tank, pump, hoses and tools, the rear sags and sways, causing all sorts of safety issues”. Field tests determine that the SuperSprings medium duty springs provides the necessary enhancement to the majority of the compact pickups while the SuperSprings heavy duty models accommodate the half ton and three-quarter ton models.

SuperSprings is a self adjusting suspension stabilizer that gives users extra load capacity, reduces rear end roll, improves safety and reduces the wear on brakes, tires, shocks and suspension. Working in parallel with the vehicle’s suspension system, SuperSprings attach onto the existing rear springs and ‘kick in’ only when needed like when loaded, cornering, or towing. SuperSprings improve the safety by improving the handling substantially when in an emergency situation.

SuperSprings are easy to instal, require no drilling, cutting or modification to your truck and once they are installed, no maintenance or adjustments are required....just ‘fit it and forget it’. SuperSprings are also covered by a lifetime warranty.

About LoadandTow
LoadandTow was established by Steve Bartleet in July 2004 to provide an online service to the pickup truck market. SuperSprings in the first product to be placed on the site but will be followed by other prestigious products like DiamondBack truck covers and Putnam tow hitches. Steve takes pride in the fact that he provides a toll free number where shoppers can contact him personally with any questions or problems they may have. This level of service is unique in the industry.

Not Much Has Changed 25 Years Later

Surprising Newsletter Headlines: BLR’s “Environmental Manager’s Compliance Advisor” Finds Not Much Has Changed 25 Years Later
The "Environmental Manager’s Compliance Advisor" is a pioneering EPA compliance newsletter that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. Published by Business & Legal Reports, Inc. (BLR), the twice-monthly newsletter finds that headlines 25 years ago and today are not that different.

Old Saybrook, CT (PRWEB) February 17, 2022 -- A relatively new Agency in 1981, The Environmental Protection Agency was being pressured by Congress’s “hammer” provisions. Basically the EPA was told to implement new regulations under RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) by specific dates, or Congress would do it for them. The result: an unprecedented flood of complicated new regulations.

Fortunately, the Environmental Manager’s Compliance Advisor came out that year with the express purpose of helping a brand new professional—the environmental manager—understand this regulatory torrent. Published by Business & Legal Reports, Inc. (BLR), the twice-monthly newsletter is celebrating its 25th year.

“We’re so proud of the Advisor,” said Bob Brady, BLR’s president and founder. “When EPA started publishing RCRA regulations for hazardous wastes in the 1980s, environmental managers were overwhelmed. The Advisor’s plain-English analysis and practical compliance advice has saved our subscribers work, helped them avoid trouble, and resulted in less pollution in American air, water, and soil.”

What will the newly inaugurated Republican President do with the EPA?
An irony of the Advisor’s long tenure as the industry’s leading newsletter is the similarity between the issues in the news in 1981 and now. For example, here are some of the stories reported in its first issue – all still topical today: Would the new Republican President (Reagan) go soft on environmental enforcement… how to respond to an EPA inspector… and small quantity generator regulations. Brady commented, “Not much has changed in 25 years. EPA still produces an avalanche of regulations. It concentrates on enforcement. And the Environmental Manager’s Compliance Advisor continues to be a practical compliance tool.”

As a special 25th anniversary celebration, BLR offers a free download of 3 Advisor issues: the first issue in 1981 (known as “Compliance Management Report”), the first issue called the Advisor in 1985, and its most recent 2005 issue. Click http://www.blr.com/80502600/WBE412 to download.

New Self Cleaning Eco Filter System Produces Wealth of Benefits for Neville Chemical

Neville Chemical found that modernizing its resin filtration system enabled significant productivity gains, reduced waste, and eliminated a laborious task that was risky to workers’ health.

(PRWEB) February 16, 2022 -- When Neville Chemical Company opened its Anaheim, California plant in 1958, its major competitors in the hydrocarbon resin industry were domestic giants such as Eastman and Exxon. Today, with a strong lineup of Asian competitors, the market has become much more competitive, particularly for smaller manufacturers like Neville Chemical.

“With all of the competitive forces out there, productivity and safety are essential to our survival,” says Rob Lonergan, GM of Neville Chemical’s Anaheim plant.

A recognized leader in synthetic hydrocarbon resins and coumarone-indene resins, Neville Chemical determined that updating its resin filtration system with a state-of-the-art system on the finished goods line would improve productivity and reduce waste.

“The call to upgrade our filtration on the solid resin line was beneficial in several ways,” Lonergan says. “It not only enabled us to operate leaner through improved productivity and reduced waste, but also led us to vastly reduce the health and safety hazards that were present with our old system.”

Neville Chemical has used a variety of different systems for filtration of impurities from its finished products for many years. While filter bags performed well in removing impurities, the use of these bags was costly, required continual changing that interrupted production, was a difficult task for workers, and was also potentially hazardous.

All of those problems were completely eliminated when Neville Chemical replaced that bag system with a state-of-the-art self-cleaning Eco Filter® system from Russell Finex (www.russellfinex.com) of Pineville, North Carolina.

Neville Chemical’s bag filters in question were located on the molten resin line, where the material is heated to 400-500 degrees Fahrenheit in order to permit flow. After being filtered, it goes through a flaking process and becomes solidified and then packaged.

The combination of the heat and build-up of contaminants causes these bags to load up and decompose so they must be changed at regular intervals. “Unfortunately, those intervals require stopping product flow before a batch is complete,” Lonergan explains.

Manufactured by Russell Finex, the Eco filter is a self-cleaning system that integrates directly into the pipeline and completely eliminates the need to change bags. By means of a unique spiral wiper design, the filter element is kept continuously clean, which ensures optimum efficiency of filtration. The systems also has a unique Q-Tap valve that allows the sampling of freshly filtered material without interrupting production. This resulted in substantial savings of both downtime and labor.

Due to the heat and “stickiness” of the resin, changing bags had also been difficult, messy and potentially dangerous. “Each bag was about three feet long, and they became quite cumbersome when full. If the person changing the bags spilled, it could stick and possibly burn. The new system completely eliminates that risk,” says Lonergan.

“Too often the workers would have to muscle out the bags because they were sticky. So, to some extent the bag changing task was a back injury waiting to happen,” adds Lonergan. “Fortunately, we have not had any serious injuries in this area.”

Lonergan points out that his workers had to also be wary of other risks, such as potential respiratory risks due to heavy fumes from the product. Consequently, bag changers wore face shields, respirators and high temperature gloves.

The totally enclosed Eco Filter now protects the operators from harmful fumes and spillage.

“All of these potential risks have now been eliminated because of the new Russell Finex system,” says Lonergan.

AstraZenica Training Team Use Business NLP Techniques to Increase Self Awareness in Communicating with Customers

Both The NHS and the Drugs and Healthcare industries are going through a series of re-organisations and major change. Developing a stronger partnership with customers is essential for navigating such changes. James Prior, an employee of AstraZenica, is involved in leading this journey.

London, U.K (PRWEB) February 16, 2022 -- AstraZenica is putting significant development into ensuring it has the best sales force in the UK, moving towards being partner of choice with its customers. This means developing a stronger appreciation of the wants, needs and values of their customers, together with a greater awareness of their own communication styles.

James Prior is Skills Development and Speciality Care training lead, who works with a team of 5 to develop speciality care skills packages for a sales field force of 1200. He approached PPI Business NLP, a bespoke provider – as he believed that Business NLP could help him achieve his objectives. As a starting point he wanted to demonstrate the benefits of a focused business NLP approach for himself.

AstraZenica sponsored James to complete his master practitioner accreditation; he chose to study modules in leadership, change management and executive coaching. He instantly recognised the benefits in both raising his own self awareness and giving him an additional set of tools to use. James explains “I noticed the impact of my own communication and I was immediately able to put into practice skills that I had been learning for some time. This made me easier to talk to and in turn enabled me to raise the value and worth of my own team.”

James added “Understanding my own personal communication styles was a key step in building on my current skills to communicate with others”

Two techniques that James found exceptionally valuable were ‘values’ and ‘timeline.’ ‘Values’ is a questioning and listening approach that enables the practitioner to find out what’s important to his or her client. ‘Timeline’ is a visualisation or kinaesthetic approach to explore and achieve future goals. James continues “Both are easy in principal; the art is in developing the skill set to do them well.”

James believes that this training will have a profound benefit in providing a comprehensive tool set those working in the care industry.

James choose PPI’s NLP Master Practitioner course because of their business experience and the focus of their team, the small numbers in their seminars and that the accreditation was licensed by Richard Bandler one of the Co-founders of NLP. He is planning to continue his studies with the hypnotic influence module and other master-class modules.

Clients of PPI Business NLP include Abbey, Accenture, ACCA, Argos, AstraZenica, Barclay’s, Birmingham University, BT, BAe, Centrica, ODPM, the PM’s Strategy Office as well as the main public services.

Methane - A very important hydrocarbon

PRWEB) February 9, 2022 -- Recently, there has been much mention of methane being found on Saturn's moon Titan. What is important about this finding is that the methane could either have been created by biogenic (living) sources such as bacteria or by abiogenic (non-living) sources such as volcanoes. Either source has its very own significant scientific importance. If the methane is biogenic, it would prove that there is life somewhere else besides on earth. If the methane is abiogenic, it would prove that methane can come from something non-living instead of living. Thus, any outcome from Titan is important.

Methane is pure natural gas. Methane (CH4) is a hydrocarbon (hydrogen and carbon) compound with four hydrogen (H) atoms that are attached to one carbon (C) atom. It is a colorless, odorless and flammable gas that burns with a blue flame. It is the simplest, lightest, cleanest and most abundant hydrocarbon found in nature. It is also the only hydrocarbon that is a renewable resource when it is biogenically (naturally) made by methanogenic (methane producing) bacteria that decompose organic matter under anaerobic (oxygenless) conditions.

Besides natural gas, methane is found in biogas, swamps, coalbeds, landfills, hydrates, shales and sands. Methane (CH4) is also the main source of commercial hydrogen production since it contains twice as many hydrogen atoms per molecule than water (H2O). Methane is also being used in vehicles for fuel as compressed natural gas (CNG) and as liquefied natural gas (LNG) since it burns cleanly only producing carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). It is also being used for making low sulfur synthetic fuels through the process of liquefaction (changing a gas into a liquid).

A Different Way to Look at Fossil Fuels

Geology company makes fossil fuel kits for energy education.

(PRWEB) February 6, 2022 --Everyday, the world uses up large amounts of fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum crude oil and natural gas for energy. These energy resources took a very long time to make in the earth so that they are non-renewable resources that will one day run out. Thus, it is very important to appreciate, conserve and learn about fossil fuels since we depend so much on them. Most information that is learned about fossil fuels comes from the many different books out there that can be read on this subject along with different articles in business and industry magazines online.

However, a geology company called "ONTA" is trying a very different and more direct hands-on approach to real fossil fuel energy education. This is being done by their making of fossil fuel kits that consist of different geology specimens such as rocks, minerals and fossils that relate to fossil fuels. Some of the kits that they make are called the "Fossil Fuel Kit", "Coal Carbon Kit", "Hydrocarbon Kit" and "Petroleum Kit".

Thus, what makes this company different from other companies that deal in geology specimens such as rocks, minerals and fossils is that they only specializes in fossil fuel specimens from all over the world and that they are helping to make different hydrocarbon minerals into desirable, acceptable and collectible items like all of the other kinds of rocks, minerals and fossils that are collected. So far, the greatest interest in these kits has been from teachers, schools, professors and universities.

Alex Avery of the Hudson Institute Debunks Myths Surrounding Frog Deformities and Amphibian Declines

Well-publicized atrazine accusations may prove to be much ado about nothing.

Churchville, VA (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) February 4, 2022 -- "Rachel Carson Syndrome: Jumping to Pesticide Conclusions in the Global Frog Crisis," is a devastating and detailed review of four highly publicized case studies reviewing frog deformities and amphibian declines. Avery reveals a deep anti-pesticide bias among ecologists, including Tyrone Hayes. The report asks why ecologists continually chase chemical phantoms despite the scientific evidence and when ecology will again become a science, instead of an anti-pesticide activist cheerleading squad?

"For years some ecologists have been convinced that pesticides are contributing to a decline in amphibian species around the globe. From an apparent epidemic of deformed frogs in Minnesota to the near disappearance of yellow-legged frogs from California’s Sierra Nevada Mountains, pesticides have been considered prime suspects. This suspicion is no doubt rooted in the belief by the ecological community that the agricultural pesticide DDT was responsible for a serious decline of raptor bird populations in North America after WWII —a theory popularized by Rachel Carson ’s 1962 bestselling book, 'Silent Spring.' Over the past decade, tens of millions of dollars have been spent looking for the offending chemical or chemicals involved in the amphibian declines. Yet time after time, no evidence has been found that pesticides are involved. Four high-profile case studies show how scant the evidence against pesticides is, as well as the deep bias of the ecological research community."

Patent Activity in Fluorine and Fluorinated Chemicals Skyrockets

Describes the dramatic increase in patents related to fluorine chemistry between 2001 and 2004

Verona, NJ (PRWEB) February 4, 2022 -- Annual patent activity in fluorine and fluorinated chemicals more than doubled between 2001 and 2004, according to FLUORSIGHT, a quarterly report on business, legislative and technical issues affecting the fluorochemicals industry. In 2004, patents specifically involving fluorine or fluorinated chemicals totaled 238, or nearly 60 patents a quarter. That compares with a total of 101 patents reported in 2001, or about 25 patents a quarter.

Several reasons account for the surge in patent activity, according to FLUORSIGHT editor Chuck Brennan. “An ever expanding number of companies are seeking to capitalize on the unique properties that fluorine and fluorinated derivatives can provide to their products, says Brennan. “A second reason is that companies involved with basic fluorine chemistry continue to create new fluorochemicals, fluoroelastomers, fluoropolymers, and other downstream products that also offer unique performance properties. We’re also seeing a fair amount of activity devoted to merging fluorinated materials with non-fluorinated compounds to create composites or hybrid systems, either through the use of adhesives, compatibilizers, or other means,” Brennan notes.

Since 1991, FLUORSIGHT has been published in April, July, October and January. For reference purposes, the January report provides an index to the preceding year’s news items. LAVAL, Quebec, Canada (PRWEB) February 3, 2022 -- ExtrusioVinyl & Plastics Co. Inc. (EVP) is pleased to announce that its Canadian patent application with respect to veining simulation in extruded resin products has been granted by the Canadian Patent Office. This technology permits a realistic simulation of wood grain coloration nuances in the company’s extrusions, thus rendering a more natural appearance to the product, while retaining the in-use performance superiorities of extruded products over natural wood. This technology is currently being employed in EVP’s extrusions for horizontal window coverings slats, and marketed by its Direct Window Fashions / Decoration Direct division. Please, visit our website at www.decorationdirecte.com

According to EVP Vice-President, Carmine Franco, “This patent is very important not only to EVP but also to the Canadian plastics industry as a whole. Since releasing this new product to the market, inexpensive copies of our technology have rapidly entered the market, distributed by other companies active in the window covering business. These imports are a flagrant violation of EVP’s intellectual property rights and the granting of this patent establishes the legal grounds to protect our domestic manufacturing against the incursions of imports from counties not having to adhere to the same labour standards which we in Canada have come to expect. With this patent now granted, EVP intends to exercise to the fullest extent available its options available to protect the intellectual property developed by its Canadian personnel. The future of Canadian industry depends on its continuing development of industrial technology and patent protection and enforcement are essential weapons in the fight against predatory pricing by importers based on cheap labour economies.”

EVP is a fully-integrated manufacturer of window covering products sold both to fabricators and direct to retailers through its Direct Window Fashions / Decoration Direct division. EVP also extrudes PVC and polystyrene profiles for the building trade and medical tubing through its Med+Plast subsidiary and, as well, provides a custom extrusion service for a variety of companies.

21st Century Fuel Additive to be Launched in the Philippines

DMX Technology Corporation is introducing a new diesel additive technology in the Philippines that dramatically reduces the consumption of diesel fuel and harmful emissions to the environment. DMX is a distributor of BASF AG, Germany and Cerulean International Ltd., United Kingdom.

(PRWEB) February 1, 2022 -- DMX Technology Corporation is introducing a new diesel additive technology in the Philippines that dramatically reduces the consumption of diesel fuel and harmful emissions to the environment. DMX is a distributor of BASF AG, Germany and Cerulean International Ltd., United Kingdom.

The world’s latest and highly effective additive package nanotechnology application in diesel fuel contains Keropur™ DP 4540, which incorporates Cerulean’s Envirox™ - a new fuel-borne catalyst. This can result in significant fuel savings of up to 10 percent and a 14 percent reduction in emissions.

Petteri Makitalo, DMX’s Chief Executive officer said DMX met Cerulean at the Asian Development Bank sponsored BAQ (Better Air Quality) 2003 Congress. He added that Envirox™ technology had recently undergone a successful 12-month commercial evaluation by the multi national Stagecoach Group based in the UK. In addition, there are similar evaluations being undertaken by transportation, shipping and oil companies in the Philippines.

“BASF bought into the Envirox™ technology in July 2004 by signing a collaboration agreement with Cerulean International. BASF now supplies Keropur™ DP 4540, an ultra-modern, next-generation diesel performance additive package, to oil companies. This diesel performance additive package will add less than one peso per liter to the price of regular diesel, but it will provide enormous cost savings by reducing fuel consumption as a result of increases in engine efficiency. Keropur™ DP 4540 containing Envirox™, is destined to improve the economic position of the local transportation industry and boost environmental protection,” the DMX chief executive assured.

“For example, if a fleet, which consumes 1 million liters of diesel per month, uses Keropur™ DP 4540 containing Envirox™, consumption can be reduced to less than 900,000 liters per month, resulting in tremendous cost savings and performance benefits.”

The improved fuel economy and lower emissions are achieved by using a patented catalyst technology that is also used in catalytic converters. Keropur™ DP 4540 incorporating Envirox™ is added to the diesel fuel before it is distributed to filling stations, and the fuel is filled into the vehicle in the normal fashion. This new performance additive package modifies the combustion profile so that more output is delivered over each combustion cycle for a given quantity of fuel. The advanced additive package also progressively cleans up engine deposits and allows the engine to operate with optimum efficiency. The dose rate of the diesel performance additive package is at parts per million (ppm) level, resulting in an extremely low concentration of Envirox™active at just five ppm.
Makitalo assured that no engine modifications are required to use the product and it has no negative impact on lubricant performance. “Just think how much pollution could be reduced if the whole country were to cut its diesel consumption by more than 10% and diesel emissions by 14%”, he added.

”We are very pleased to commercialise the technology with such strong partners in the Philippine market, and I am sure that this will open up further significant market opportunities in the near future”, stated Ronen Hazarika, Cerulean International’s Asia Pacific Marketing Director.
