ICIS-LOR Petrochemical Index (IPEX) Down 1.4 Percent in May
ICIS-LOR, the global market pricing and intelligence service for the oil and chemicals industry from ICIS, publishes its May Petrochemical Index (IPEX).
London, (PRWEB) May 26, 2005 -- The ICIS-LOR Petrochemical Index (IPEX) slipped 1.4 percent to 241.45 in May 2005 from 244.85 the previous month. The indicator’s drop stemmed from softer US olefins pricing, weaker Asian aromatics prices, and a mild retreat in global plastics pricing. Please note that the April 2005 IPEX value was revised downward from 249.19 to 244.85, due to the correction in the historical price database.
The IPEX provides an authoritative, independent indicator of average change in world petrochemical prices. Dating back to January 1993, ICIS-LOR’s historical prices for a basket of twelve essential petrochemical grades in the US, Western European, and the North East Asian markets have been weighted by regional nameplate capacity to generate a monthly index value.
The IPEX product basket is composed by the following twelve products: ethylene, propylene, benzene, toluene, paraxylene, styrene, methanol, butadiene, PVC, polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene.
The IPEX is brought to you as part of ICIS-LOR’s commitment to add value to its services, and we hope you find this unique perspective on the petrochemicals market valuable. The index is freely available for re-distribution, please contact us for more information.
