PowerDsine Grants License for Its Power Over Ethernet Midspan Patent to Alpha Telecom

How Much Does It Cost Me?

Considerable cost savings can be achieved with the installment of a REOVIB MFS vibratory feeder controller.

(PRWEB) June 18, 2021 -- Amps are how many electrons that flow past a certain point per second. Volts are a measure of how much force that each electron is under. Think of water in a hose. A gallon a minute (amps) just dribbles out if it is under low pressure (voltage). But if you restrict the end of the hose, letting the pressure build up, the water can have more power (watts), even though it is still only one gallon a minute. In fact the power can grow enormous as the pressure builds, to the point that a water knife can cut a sheet of steel Kevlar. In the same manner as the voltage is increased a small amount of current can generate a great deal of watts.

The cost to operate an appliance is based on the following factors:
1. Fuel cost
2. Duty cycle
3. Type and quantity of fuel
The cost of fuels varies by utility companies; electricity may cost approximately .0693¢ per kilowatt hour (kWh), (U.S. Average Revenue per KWh is .0693¢).

To determine the cost to operate a vibratory bowl feeder, you need to multiply the amp draw from the supply to the vibratory feeder controller by the volts, (Amps x Volts = Watts). Divide the Watts by 1,000, (Watts / 1,000 = kWh). Then multiply the kilowatts of the vibratory bowl feeder by the number of hours of use per day, (kWh x Hr. = Duty Cycle). Multiply the approximate cost per kilowatt by the duty and this will give you the cost per hour to operate your vibratory parts feeder, (.0693¢ x Duty Cycle = Cost).

Example:
12A x 110V = 1,320 watts
1,320 watts / 1,000 = 1.32kWh
1.32kWh x 8hrs = 10.56kWh
10.56kWh x .0693¢ = $0.731808 per hour

Considerable cost savings can be achieved with the installment of a REOVIB MFS vibratory feeder controller. The soft start feature reduces the inrush current from the controller to the electro magnetic coils, this will eliminate the “hammering” and extend the life of the coils. The resistance of the MFS controllers gives true linear voltage control from 0 – 100% of the supply while the capacitors store the unused energy for the next impulse release exciting the coils for vibration. The coil air gap can be minimized, thus reducing the current draw by as much as 50% over an inductance controller. The amplitude is held constant while the MFS controller is working in regulation mode, thus compensating for various load conditions within the feeder while removing operator intervention to adjust the speed for load conditions. The feed system can be electronically tuned to give optimum performance at resonant frequency (5 – 150Hz) with the use of an accelerometer, and then saves this in the systems memory for operational use compensating for cracks, broken springs, loosened bolts and dead spots, at the same time keeping your production running.

Jennic Announces Availability of Evaluation Kit for Single Chip ZigBee Device With Choice of Stacks from Korwin and Luxoft

Company demonstrates first ZigBee solutions using its single system-on-chip IEEE802.15.4 device in home automation and industrial automation at Oslo open house.

New Generation of Highly Conductive Inks Making RFID Tags Better, Smaller

KUA Kicks off Hurricane Preparedness Meetings

The meetings are part of a community-wide initiative by Kissimmee Utility Authority to help residents prepare for this year's hurricane season. Using lessons learned from the 2004 hurricane season, the 60-minute sessions are packed with helpful tips and information, including details on power restoration procedures and priorities.

Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) June 10, 2021 -- Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA) hosted its first in a series of neighborhood hurricane preparedness meetings June 7 in Buenaventura Lakes with nearly 70 residents in attendance.

The meetings are part of a community-wide initiative by the utility to help residents prepare for this year's hurricane season. Using lessons learned from the 2004 hurricane season, the 60-minute sessions are packed with helpful tips and information, including details on power restoration procedures and priorities.

Tuesday's meeting was conducted in both English and Spanish and included a presentation by Osceola County's public information office. Special guests included Sen. Gary Siplin (D-Orlando) and Rep. John Quinones (R-Kissimmee) as well as Osceola County commissioners Paul Owen and Ken Smith.

Residents who attend one of the meetings will receive a free copy of the utility's 2005 Osceola Hurricane Handbook. The 36-page guide includes practical tips to prepare for hurricanes and floods, plus helpful Osceola County telephone numbers, a disaster supplies checklist and a hurricane tracking chart.

KUA has distributed over 34,000 handbooks since it was released on May 18.

In exit surveys conducted after the June 7 meeting, 98 percent of participants found the meeting informative and worthwhile. Ninety-six percent of the participants said they intend to use the utility's hurricane guide to help them prepare for this year's storm season.

SLS International's Sound System Used For Celebration Three: Star Wars Convention

SLS International (OTCBB: SITI) announced today that its sound system was used at the recent Celebration Three: Star Wars convention at the RCA Dome Indianapolis Convention Center. The speakers, installed by Forte Pro Audio, Inc., were used in four different rooms. The convention, which was held over three days, hosted more than 75,000 attendees.

"We originally bid for just one of the four main stages," said Chuck Oliver, executive director and chief engineer of Forte Pro Audio. "When we were called back and told we were given all four stages, we immediately knew the SLS speakers were the main selling factor. We went into this strictly as an SLS provider and knew we had to make a great impression. This is such a huge event and we would not use anything other than SLS for this show."

Every year, the George Lucas Star Wars fan club hosts its annual convention showing the entire series of movies. This year, with the release of the newest film Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith, attendance reached record levels. George Lucas, Rick McCallum (producer) and Jay Lagai'aia (Captain Typho) made a special appearance, joining the cast members from the previous movies who frequent the shows to visit the fans.

On the Jedi Training stage, an area for children, Oliver placed two SLS 112RTs on stands. Another room, which holds over 2,500 people, was home to Star Wars the Musical, a comical 30-minute play of the entire Star Wars script and used an SLS 16 RLA/2 speaker system. The main ballroom, which seats 3,500 people, used 32-line array boxes. Another 16 box system was used for the opening and closing ceremonies in the 5,000-seat room.

The 1,500-seat movie viewing room played an eight minute preview of the newest film with a mock surround sound system. Due to fire safety codes, speakers were not allowed in the back of the room, so Forte Pro Audio used the SLS LS8695 line array column speakers along with an RLA/2 monitoring system. The room was jam-packed every night, with the producer hosting a Q&A; after the viewing.

"One of the challenges we faced was hiding the speakers," added Oliver. "We needed to position them in some difficult spaces. We used SLS' Line Array Simulation Software (LASS) program by punching in the location of the stage, where the speakers needed to be placed, the height of the room and it mapped out all of the angles perfectly. Fulfilling the unique needs of the client was interesting. It was a big challenge, but SLS gave us all the support we needed and more."

Show producers also wanted clear audible sound from front to back without letting the low-end (music) make it past the half way point of the room, which posed another challenge for Forte Pro Audio. This concept was created so that everyone in the first half of the room could hear the rock n' roll, while preventing that noise in the back where cast members were signing autographs. With these unique requests, Forte Pro Audio was able to use the LASS program to coordinate how it should arrange the speakers so the low end would fade out.

"We were very excited to be part of this event," commented Rod Falconer, national sales manager for SLS International. "It was a very challenging job and we gave it all of the technical support and assistance that was needed. The producers had special requirements, but we knew our systems would be the perfect fit."

KUA Lineman Retires after 42 Years

William N. "Bill" Groover was honored June 1 by Kissimmee Utility Authority and presented with proclamations from the utility and city of Kissimmee as well as framed personal letters of commendation from President Bush, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Mel Martinez.

Kissimmee, FL (PRWEB) June 3, 2021 -- William N. "Bill" Groover, line crew supervisor for Kissimmee Utility Authority (KUA), retires today after 42 years, one month and three days of service to the electric utility.

Groover, 62, was honored this morning by KUA's board of directors and presented with proclamations from the utility and city of Kissimmee as well as framed personal letters of commendation from President Bush, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Sen. Mel Martinez.

In addition, the board presented Groover with an engraved brass and leather climbing hook – symbolic of the climbing hooks he carried daily for four decades to scale utility poles in need of maintenance, repair or replacement.

A graduate of Greenville High School in Greenville, Pa., Bill joined the utility as a lineman's helper on April 29, 1963, at the age of 19. Bill’s starting pay was $1.30 per hour. Over the years, he worked his way up the utility ladder to lineman apprentice (1964), second class lineman (1965), lineman (1966), foreman (1971), and finally in 1998 to his current position, line crew supervisor.

Over the years, Groover witnessed some of the most significant chapters in the utility's history, including the unveiling of KUA's first modern energy control center in 1979, the creation of a separate utility authority in 1985 and the opening of the Cane Island Power Park in 1995.

Though many co-workers describe Groover's departure as a loss for the utility, the event will not be a complete loss for the community. Even in retirement Groover will be no stranger to Osceola County as he and his wife Kathy own and manage Jordan/Norris commercial printers in downtown Kissimmee and St. Cloud.

Mr. Himes worked for Ernst & Young and several entrepreneurial companies prior to his tenure with McKesson. He also was the founder of a multi-location document-imaging service company. A CPA, Mr. Himes earned a Bachelors of Arts degree in Accounting from Colorado University in Ft. Collins, CO, and an MBA from Harvard University.

Enviro.BLR.com poll of Environmental Professionals Finds American Participation in the Kyoto Global Warming Protocol a Non-issue

It’s ironic, but a majority of environmental professionals said in a recent Enviro.BLR.com survey that the U.S. should have signed the Kyoto global warming treaty after all.

Old Saybrook, CT (PRWEB) June 2, 2021 -- Environmental professionals, whose employers are being “protected’ by the American decision not to ratify the Kyoto treaty decision on global warming, think that the United States should have ratified the Protocol. That was the result in a recent online poll by Enviro.BLR.com, Making State Environmental Compliance Easier, a Business & Legal Reports, Inc. website.

BLR’s poll asked, “Should the U.S. have ratified the Kyoto Protocol?” Fifty-seven percent of respondents felt that the U.S. should have ratified the treaty. President Bush argued that the Protocol’s requirements would be overly burdensome for the economy, that the exclusion of developing countries like China and India would make greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions ineffective, and that it would tilt the economic playing field against U.S. industry.

In the poll conducted in May 2005 the remaining 43 percent of the 134 respondents agreed that the U.S. made the right decision in opting out.

“American participation in the Kyoto agreement could be viewed as a non-issue,” commented Steve Quilliam, managing editor of Enviro.BLR.com – “Greenhouse gas emission reduction is a global movement. Large U.S. companies will have to comply with it in their overseas operations anyway, and to be consistent they will eventually apply the same standards everywhere, including the U.S.”

The Kyoto Protocol Climate Change Treaty went into effect on February 16, 2005, ratified by 55 nations representing 55 percent of all global GHG emissions. U.S. facilities can choose to undertake a voluntary program to address all or part of the Kyoto requirements. The federal Voluntary Reporting of Greenhouse Gases Program (VRGGP) helps to ensure that current emissions reductions won’t be forgotten under any future mandatory actions.

BLR’s environmental editors recommend these tips for a voluntary GHG program:
· Perform a baseline GHG emissions inventory.
· Explore solutions to reduce GHG emissions now.
· Register as certifiably reducing GHG emissions through the California Climate Action Registry or other state or local body.

U.S. Manufacturers Resist Natural Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Online Sales Leads

New study shows how poorly U.S. manufacturers use natural search engine optimization (SEO) as an online marketing strategy to generate new sales leads.
