Brent C. Bell, a partner at Shutts & Bowen, LLP, received his undergraduate degree in economics from Emory University and his law degree, with honors, from the University of Florida. While attending law school, he received two American Jurisprudence Book Awards in the areas of admiralty and constitutional law. Mr. Bell practices in the area of commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on construction, defective product and contract law. He represents subcontractors, professionals, suppliers and contractors in all stages of the construction process, including litigation, drafting, administration, litigation avoidance and negotiation. Mr. Bell is a member of The Florida Bar and the Construction Law Committee of the Orange County Bar Association. He is a frequent lecturer in the construction industry, primarily on the construction bond and lien laws and is also actively involved in several construction-related trade organizations.

Richard A. Burt is an associate in Shutts & Bowen, LLP’s Orlando office, where he is a member of the firm’s Construction Litigation Practice Group. Prior to joining Shutts & Bowen, Mr. Burt was an associate with the international law firm of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, where he handled a variety of commercial and securities litigation matters in state and federal court, as well as arbitration. In addition to his duties at Shutts & Bowen, he is also an adjunct professor in the Paralegal Studies Department at Valencia Community College. Mr. Burt teaches a course entitled “Business Organizations,” which informs students of the types of business organizations and their relative advantages and disadvantages in a variety of areas ranging from liability to taxation to management. While at the University of Miami School of Law, Mr. Burt was a member of the University of Miami Review and Moot Court Board. Mr. Burt graduated magna cum laude and was selected to the Order of the Coif. He received a B.S. degree in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

John H. Dannecker, a partner at Shutts & Bowen, LLP, received his B.S. degree, with honors, from the University of Florida and earned his J.D. degree, with honors, from Stetson University. Mr. Dannecker practices in the field of commercial litigation, with particular emphasis in the areas of construction litigation, contract negotiation, and defect and delay litigation, including mold and mildew-related disputes. He is also the Practice Group Leader of the Construction Litigation Team. Mr. Dannecker has litigated numerous claims involving moisture intrusion, mold and mildew, subsurface conditions, pipe failures, professional malpractice, delays and road failures. Mr. Dannecker is involved in numerous bar association activities, including The Florida Bar Commercial Litigation Section, the American Bar Association Construction Law Section and the Orange County Bar Association Construction Law Committee. He is a former Barrister in the Central Florida Chapter of the American Inns of Court. Mr. Dannecker is a member of the Association of Florida Trial Lawyers and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America. He is also a member of Associated General Contractors and Associated Builders and Contractors.

Earnest A. DeLoach Jr. is a senior associate attorney in the Shutts & Bowen, LLP’s Construction Litigation/Commercial Litigation Practice Group in Orlando. Experienced in both trial and appellate law, he has been responsible for a $900,000 jury trial verdict, as well as a successful appeal before Florida’s 4th District Court of Appeals. In addition to all state courts, Mr. DeLoach is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Florida. He received his B.A. degree in international affairs and political science, cum laude, from the University of Miami. A Virgil Hawkins Fellowship recipient, Mr. DeLoach received his J.D. degree from Florida State University College of Law, where he was twice named “Best Advocate” at the Florida Bar Mock Trial competition and honored as a nationally recognized oralist in Moot Court. For his achievements, Mr. DeLoach was named to the Order of Barristers. He is a member of various professional organizations, including the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar, the Paul C. Perkins Bar Association, the Virgil Hawkins Chapter of the National Bar Association and the Orange County Bar Association. Kathleen M. Krak is an attorney with the law firm of Shutts & Bowen, LLP. Ms. Krak earned her undergraduate degree from Florida State University and her J.D. degree from Stetson University. Ms. Krak practices in the firm’s construction litigation practice group, representing subcontractors, professionals, contractors and suppliers in various stages of the construction process including preliminary contract negotiations, protection of lien rights, alternative dispute resolutions and litigation. Her experience includes matters relating to contract and warranty disputes, delay and defect issues, professional negligence claims, defense and enforcement of payment and performance bonds and matters dealing with debt collection, mortgage foreclosures and commercial landlord/tenant disputes. Prior to joining Shutts & Bowen, she served as a prosecutor for the Pinellas County State Attorney’s Office and thereafter, represented law enforcement and municipalities in both state and federal litigation. Ms. Krak is a member of the U.S. Middle, Northern and Southern District Courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals, 11th Circuit.
