The Comp-Flex initial design application was developed for the oil and petroleum industry, requiring a highly flexible, light weight, submersible cable in one of the world’s harshest environments. The cables unique design characteristics allow for numerous applications including; pumps, generators, and heavy equipment where weight, abrasion resistance and flexibility are also important factors.

Recently, the cable has been utilized in the Hurricane Katrina stricken region of Louisiana. Comp-Flex has provided power solutions to FEMA, Army Corps of Engineers and contractors looking for solutions to their growing power management crisis. The cable is both UL and CSA listed and has MSHA approval for operating voltage of 2,000v. Sizes range from 8 awg to 4/0, with allowable ampacity up to 405 amps. The construction is available in single conductor and multi-conductor cables.

Key to the development of this product was functionality and performance. “We have a cable which is stronger more flexible and lighter with improved electrical performance of previous cable designs, states Tom Wingfield, President, Comp Cable, Inc. We are entering this market at a price point very competitive with previous cables within this class. Feedback from contractors in the field is very positive and we are looking to expand this offering to other industries, including mining, telecom and marine.”
