WEEE Directive – Is Your Business Prepared?

A new free service has been launched to help businesses co-ordinate both the disposal and acquisition of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) across the UK.

(PRWEB) March 24, 2005 -- Under the EU's WEEE Directive, from August 2005, all UK businesses will be required, by law, to re-use and recycle 100% of their end-of-life electrical equipment. Failure to comply with this legislation will result in a fine or even imprisonment.

“The first problem businesses will encounter when trying to comply with the legislation is to find a WEEE recycler that matches all of their individual requirements. This could take days of searching for, and contacting recyclers for quotes. Our new and unique systems allow businesses to reduce search time to minutes rather than days.” – Lee Sykes - Director of Operations

The WEEE Recycling Directory is a unique website that contains two main areas. The first is the directory of WEEE recyclers across the UK and the second is the WEEE Tenders & Collections section.

The WEEE Recycling Directory ensures that users can quickly search for a recycler in their area by specifying the type of equipment, such as IT Equipment, Fluorescent tubes etc. and the location from which it is to be collected. Other specialist criteria can also be stipulated, for instance, to donate the equipment to charity or the requirement to wipe hard disks to military standards.

Visit http://www.weeedirectory.com for the latest information regarding how to comply with the WEEE Directive and to search for a WEEE recycler in your area.

Notes to Editor:
1. The WEEE Recycling Directory aims to provide a central resource and service for WEEE. To benefit both businesses and recyclers and to provide an environment where the recycling business can grow.
The WEEE Recycling Directory website is maintained by LJS Media, an independent organisation that creates website services. This enables LJS Media to offer the WEEE Recycling Directory service with no bias to any recyclers or businesses, enabling a business searching for a service to obtain the most competitive quote possible.
2. All of the services on the website are free of charge. The website is paid for through advertising.
