Fujitsu announces next family members of 32-bit RISC Microcontroller series

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe introduces two new, feature-rich, 32-bit microcontrollers to complement its portfolio of microcontrollers designed with the company’s proprietary FRLite core. These latest products are ideally suited to automotive and industrial applications, offering end users a cost-effective solution with 32-bit performance. Samples are available now, with mass production commencing at the end of 2005.

Frankfurt (PRWEB) October 28, 2005 -- Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe introduces two new, feature-rich, 32-bit microcontrollers to complement its portfolio of microcontrollers designed with the company’s proprietary FRLite core. These latest products are ideally suited to automotive and industrial applications, offering end users a cost-effective solution with 32-bit performance. Samples are available now, with mass production commencing at the end of 2005.

The MB91F272 is housed in a 100-pin LQFP package, which is pin compatible with Fujitsu’s successful 16-bit MB90340 microcontroller, and contains the 32-bit FR RISC core, 256kB on-board Flash memory, 10kB RAM and CAN interface, as well as peripherals including, 7 UARTs supporting LIN, a 24-channel 10-bit A/D converter, and 3 I2C interfaces.

The MB91F252, however, comes in a 120-pin QFP package, and features 512kB Flash memory, 16kB RAM and other enhanced peripherals that include 2 CAN interfaces and a 32-channel A/D converter.

Both products are designed in Fujitsu’s proven 0.35µm embedded Flash technology, and operate from a single 5V supply, at a frequency of 32MHz. Additional features include C-CAN with 32 message buffers, a sub/clock option and a clock modulator to improve EMC behaviour.

The MB91F272 microcontroller is supported by the Accemic MDE (Monitor Debugging Environment), which enables powerful, state-of-the-art debugging.

For customers wishing to start software development immediately, the MB90340 starter-kit (Flash-CAN-100P-340) is available with the adaptor (ADA-91270-90340-100PFV).

Fujitsu’s 32-bit optimised RISC core reduces die size, power consumption and design turnaround time. By using the same architecture as the FR family, upgrades to a much higher performance are easily achieved.

The MB91F272 complements Fujitsu’s FRLite MCU series for LCD control (MB91230) and for 3-phase motor control (MB91260) applications. Full application and design support is offered throughout Europe by Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe in Frankfurt, where the company’s European Microcontroller Design Centre is based.
