NCR Secures the First APTRA™ Edge Software Deal in Hong Kong
Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Hong Kong Branch’s ATM Network Migrates To Windows XP Platform
HONG KONG (PRWEB) October 27, 2005 -- NCR Corporation (NYSE: NCR) today announced Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Hong Kong Branch has selected NCR APTRA™ Edge open architecture, client-server software to power the bank’s NCR automated teller machine (ATM) network.
APTRA Edge is the world’s leading standards-based, open and vendor independent self-service software. It has a multi-tool and multi-channel architectural environment that reduces development time and operating costs, and improves time-to-market for new ATM services, security and regulatory standards. APTRA Edge provides a rich multi-media consumer platform to drive revenue by incorporating marketing and personalisation messages. By controlling the ATMs in a manner common to other modern, Web-based channels, APTRA Edge also benefits from increased flexibility and speed in launching new banking services.
Bank of Communications Co., Ltd. Hong Kong Branch is the first to adopt NCR APTRA Edge software in Hong Kong, enabling it to become the first bank here to migrate its ATM network from the OS/2 platform to Microsoft® Windows® XP.
This move gives the Bank the ability to minimize the time and cost involved in developing and initiating new functions across the network. It also has the potential to deploy a single application environment across multi-vendor ATMs in the future.
