A printed wiring board (PWB) is the foundation both literally and figuratively for virtually all electronics in the world. It is the platform upon which electronic components such as integrated circuit chips and capacitors are mounted. The PWB, or printed circuit board (PCB) provides both the physical structure for mounting and holding electronic components as well as the electrical interconnection between components. A PWB consists of a non-conducting substrate (typically fiberglass with epoxy resin) upon which a conductive pattern or circuitry is formed. Copper is the most prevalent conductor, although nickel, silver, tin, tin-lead, and gold may also be used as etch-resists or top-level metal. There are three types of PWBs: single-sided, double-sided, and multilayer. Single-sided boards have a conductive pattern on one side only, double-sided boards have conductive patterns on both faces, and multilayer boards consist of alternating layers of conductor and insulating material bonded together. The conductive layers are connected by plated through-holes, which are also used to mount and electrically connect components. PWBs may also be either rigid, flexible, or a combination of the two (rigid-flex).

When the electronic components have been mounted on the PWB, the combination of PWB and components is an electronic assembly, also called a printed wiring assembly (PWA). This assembly is the basic building block for all larger electronic systems, from toys to toasters to telecommunications.

These electronic systems, in turn, support every other critical technology in the United States. To quote the Council on Competitiveness from their 1991 Gaining New Ground report, "Electronic components are playing an especially important role in driving improvements in information and communication technologies, which in turn are enabling advances in all manufacturing and service industries."

Foxconn Expands Distribution by Adding ASBIS

Under the terms of the agreement, Foxconn will provide three years warranty for motherboards and two years warranty for chassis, power supply, coolers, and card readers.

This delayed response will continue for 50 cycles, allowing the user ample time to replace the batteries. Upon the 51st time-delayed activation, the system shuts itself down and “plays dead” in the open (down) position to preclude drivers from being blocked in or out of their designated parking spots. The time-delay early-warning method was selected in lieu of buzzers or flashing LEDs as both options consume battery current, buzzers are an annoyance, and flashing LEDs are too easily overlooked. Moreover, a delayed reaction intuitively indicates low power. Each MySpot 200 can accommodate 15 individual standard or common code three-button HomeLink(R) Compatible US HT keychain transmitters, while each transmitter can operate up to nine adjacent MySpot 200s.

In addition to the keychain transmitter, the MySpot 200 system is comprised of a PowerPod module, IdlePod mounting module, and barrier. The proprietary energy storage mechanism, batteries, and electronics are housed within the rugged and durable cast-aluminum PowerPod module, which is sealed to withstand harsh environment, water, and debris. The available torque on the shaft is 140 in-lb. Measuring 43” (109 cm) long and 16.5” (42 cm) tall, the standard barrier is supported by the PowerPod module on one side and by the IdlePod module on the other. A weather-resistant, reflective “reserved” label is provided standard, however customized labels are readily accommodated. The PowerPod module is supplied with steel mounting plates to permit easy removal and replacement of the pods for road maintenance or to relocate the MySpot 200 system.

To enter a designated parking space, the user just sends a remote command from the keychain transmitter. The coded command releases a lock allowing gravity to lower the barrier. The energy to raise the barrier is then captured and stored in the hydraulic spring mechanism of the PowerPod module when the vehicle drives over it. Once the vehicle has parked or exited the space, the user simply depresses a button on the transmitter to raise the barrier. The raised barrier is a perceived theft deterrent for parked vehicle as it blocks unauthorized movement. Should excessive force be applied to the barrier, a self-resetting defense mechanism will absorb the impact and will disengage it from the PowerPod module to preserve the integrity of the module. The barrier is then returned to its raised position when the force is removed.

Designated Parking’s system is engineered for the highest reliability, and tested to 20,000 up/down cycles representing over 10 years (at five cycles per day). It is designed for use by cars and light trucks weighing up to 10,000 lbs./5 tons. The device may be confidently employed in varied indoor and outdoor public and private sector parking applications including offices, apartments/condominiums, hospitals, colleges/universities, airports, municipal and retail parking lots, along with remote driveways. Vishay Siliconix Half-Bridge N-Channel MOSFET Drivers Feature 1-A Drive Capability for up to 50-V Systems and Impedance Under 1 Ohm

The new SiP41103, SiP41104, and SiP41105 dual MOSFET drivers, which drive both the lower and upper MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration, work in systems with supply voltages from 4.5 V up to 50 V.

Santa Clara, CA (PRWEB) February 2, 2022 -- Siliconix Incorporated (NASDAQ: SILI), an 80.4%-owned subsidiary of Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH), today announced four new high-speed, half-bridge n-channel MOSFET driver ICs designed for use in high-frequency, high-current, single- and multiphase dc-to-dc switching power supplies, including one driver with a brake for brushless motor control applications.

The new SiP41103, SiP41104, and SiP41105 dual MOSFET drivers, which drive both the lower and upper MOSFETs in a half-bridge configuration, work in systems with supply voltages from 4.5 V up to 50 V. Designed to supply output currents up to 1 A, these three drivers operate at switching frequencies of 250 kHz to 1 MHz with a driver impedance of less than 1 ohm, allowing for reduced capacitor and inductor size. The new SiP42101, which is equipped with a brake function for motor drive applications, operates at 50 kHz.

The family's break-before-make logic prevents shoot-through currents in the external MOSFETs as well as the internal bootstrap diode, which drives an n-channel high-side MOSFET that reduces the number of external components. A shutdown/control pin is used to enable the drivers, and a synchronous enable pin is additionally provided on the SiP41103 and SiP41105 to allow disabling of the low-side or "synchronous rectifier" MOSFET to maximize efficiency at light power loads.

An undervoltage lockout feature prevents driving of the MOSFET gates when the supply voltage (at VDD) is less than is specified, thereby ensuring that output MOSFETs are only turned on when sufficient gate voltage is present. The devices have a shutdown quiescent current of less than 5 microamps.

All four new MOSFET drivers are available in both standard and lead (Pb)-free packages. The SiP42101 and SiP41103 have an MLP33-10 package, while the SiP41104 has an SO-8 package and the SiP41105 a TSSOP-16 PowerPAK. They are rated for operation over the -40 to +85 degrees Celsius industrial temperature range, with applications including high-current synchronous buck (step-down) converters, multiphase dc-to-dc converters, asynchronous-to-synchronous adaptations, and computer dc-to-dc converters. The SiP42101 joins Siliconix's existing family of motor drivers, including the popular Si9986, which has integrated 1-A MOSFETs.

Samples and production quantities of the SiP42101, SiP41103, SiP41104, and SiP41105 are available now, with lead times of 8 to 10 weeks for larger orders. Pricing for U.S. delivery in 1000-piece quantities is $1.96 for the SiP41101 and $1.83 for the SiP41103, SiP41104, SiP41105, and SiP42101.

In 1996 Mr. Hicks founded Capstar Broadcasting Corporation. Capstar Broadcasting's strategy was to be a leading consolidator or middle Market radio stations across the US and by 1998 was the nation's largest holding company with 350 stations. In 1998, Mr. Hicks led Capstar Broadcasting to a successful initial public offering on the New York Stock Exchange. In 1999 Capstar Broadcasting merged with Chancellor Media Corp. and in a stock swap valued at $4.1 billion.

Mr. Hicks has been a member of the Board of Directors of XM Satellite Radio, HealthTronics and numerous private companies. During over the past 33 years, he has developed extensive relationships throughout the Broadcast and entertainment industry. Mr. Hicks is a graduate of the University of Texas and the past Director of the National Radio Broadcasters Association.

Studio Electronics Celebrates 20th Anniversary

El Segundo, CA (PRWEB) January 30, 2022 -- Studio Electronics is celebrating 20 years of manufacturing synthesizers, Class A Pro Audio devices, and effects pedals. Formed in 1985 by Tim Caswell and Val St. Regis, the two began rack mounting and MIDI-fying the MiniMoog, which soon became the MIDIMINI, sounding exactly like the Moog but with the addition of several clever features. After the MIDIMINI the company introduced the Obie Rack, Obie 8, and “Harvey” 808- all rack mounted synthesizer units. In 1993 Studio Electronics unveiled the ultimate bass and lead synth, the legendary SE-1, which quickly became an indispensable tool among Film producers, T.V., Electronic Dance musicians, Hip Hop, R&B;, and Pop musicians and engineers.

At the forefront of analog synthesizer design, in 1996 the first interchangeable cartridge-based filter system was introduced with the ATC (Analog Tone Chameleon) rack mount synthesizer. The unit featured 4 modules to choose from: 303, Mini, S.E.M., and 2600, allowing the user to create a wider tonal palette than ever before possible from a single unit. In response to increased demand for more sounds and features, in 1997 the Omega 8 was released, which featured 8 voices, each of which were stereo, multi-timbral, polyphonic, and programmable, again using the cartridge-based filter system.

The SE-1X “the ultimate bass and lead synth” was introduced in 2001, which was a significant improvement upon the earlier SE-1, incorporating knobs that transmit MIDI data, LFOs that sync to MIDI clock, and 4 times the number of memory locations. In 2002 the ATC was improved with the ATC-1 and ATC-1X. 2 new Class A discrete audio products were introduced-the Pre2 and the C2s. Both Pre2 and C2s are 2 channel, single space rack mount units. The Pre2 is a microphone preamp, the C2s is a compressor/limiter.

In 2003 the company surprised the industry with the innovative ModMax effects pedal line which included a Phaser, Ring Modulator, and Filter pedals, all of which are True Bypass. The Wolftone Series of distortion pedals followed. Todd Wolfgram’s innovative designs spawned the Helium, based on a classic Octavia design but adding a Mix control to the upper octave, and the Chaos, a pick-sensitive distortion pedal capable of producing shades of Ring Modulator.

2004 saw many design refinements and improvements. 2005 marks the 20th Anniversary for the company including plans to introduce an exciting new audio product, a new pedal line, and effects devices targeted to DJ market.
