Fast Bag-in-Box filling for Britvic from Rapak
Rapak’s installation of two Rapak Autokap 1210E fully automatic Bag-in-Box filling machines in Britvic’s Leeds factory has led to a major boost in productivity.
(PRWEB) December 19, 2005 -- Increased output and user flexibility are key benefits of two Rapak Autokap 1210E Fully Automatic Bag-in-Box filling machines recently installed in the Leeds factory of Britvic Soft Drinks.
The high speeds have been achieved thanks to Rapak’s innovative quick change bag into box loaders, which reduce change-over downtime significantly and maximise efficiencies. The rotating ‘back to back’ load chutes with special ‘quick connect’ technology mean changing from 10 to 20 litre packs can be achieved in less than three minutes.
Each of the Autokap machines is capable of filling 10 litre and 20 litre bags of post mix syrup at rates of 13 and 9 bags per minute respectively. Between them, the two fillers can produce in excess of 4.5 million units per year for Britvic.

Filler operation is controlled by user-friendly Siemens colour touchscreens. A particular advantage of this technology is that it gives Britvic engineers the flexibility to alter the operational parameters of the machines during production runs.
In addition, Rapak has linked the high-speed servo driven fillers to Britvic’s upgraded process control system for simplified operation and enhanced reliability.
The installation demonstrates the on-going close working partnership between Rapak and Britvic.
“Rapak’s specialist expertise in Bag-in-Box technology, backed by committed service and support, has provided us with a fast and effective filling system, offering greater capacity and increased output,” comments Andy Norbury, Project Manager at Britvic Leeds.
Jon Wragg, Rapak’s Sales and Marketing Director, comments: “Britvic’s decision to use Rapak filling systems reflects the breadth and quality of our product offering for bag-in-box filling systems and also the high level of innovation that we continue to incorporate into our machines.
“These benefits, along with our global approach and total product offering, will continue to differentiate Rapak in the future.”
