Intertek Expands Transportation Lighting Testing Facilities

Expanded facilities quicken turnaround time of luminous intensity testing of transportation lighting.

Cortland, NY (PRWEB) January 21, 2006 -- The ETL SEMKO division of Intertek (LSE: ITRK) today announced the addition of a second goniophotometer testing system to its transportation lighting performance testing laboratory. This addition will quicken turnaround times for transportation lighting manufacturers by doubling Intertek's capacity for luminous intensity testing.

The new state-of-the-art goniophotometer tests the luminous intensity of automobile lighting, traffic lights and airport lighting. What’s more, the new facilities provide visual data interpretation of test results through isocandela plots and birds-eye reports.

"Reliable test data and fast turnaround are requisites to determining product compliance quickly, and gaining a first-to-market advantage,” said Todd Straka, Intertek Business Manager for Lighting Products. “Our new goniophotometer enables us to deliver on these manufacturer requisites with increased capacity and vivid reporting. Beyond the raw data, these isocandela plots and birds-eye reports provide clients with visual representations of their test results.”

The new facility enhances Intertek’s already strong lighting testing capabilities, which include luminous intensity distribution, color temperature, chromaticity, efficacy and electrical safety testing. Intertek tests a variety of product categories, including incandescent, compact fluorescent, HID, halogen, automobile, traffic, and airport lighting.
