Another Reason to Consider Fractional Ownership of Rapid-Manufacturing Assets
Utah-based Tangible Express increases rapid manufacturing capacity by purchasing a 3D Systems Sinterstation Pro SLS 230 increasing SLS capacity to five 3D Systems machines. Earlier this year Tangible Express announced the purchase of multiple SLA Viper Pro systems giving Tangible the largest U.S. install base of SLA Viper Pro equipment.
Springville, UT (PRWEB) October 3, 2007 -- Customers of existing rapid-prototyping and rapid-manufacturing (RP-RM) service bureaus now have another reason to consider the benefits of fractional ownership.
Tangible Express, the global pioneer in fractional ownership of manufacturing assets, has added to its state-of-the-art portfolio of RP-RM platforms with the purchase of a top-of-the-line Sinterstation Pro SLS 230 from 3D Systems Inc. The innovative RP-RM machine is capable of producing quality, durable prototypes and actual short-run manufactured parts without the need for costly and time-consumptive machine tools.
"Drawing upon our complete line of machines and platforms, we could, in theory, manufacture and assemble any plastic part for a user-ready kitchen appliance, automobile, plane, or even a rocket without requiring machine-tooled parts," says C. Alex Linde, President and COO of Tangible Express.
Best of all, Linde notes, Tangible Express makes its entire line of RP-RM machines, including the new Sinterstation® Pro SLS®, available for ownership at only a fraction of the cost of outright ownership of a single RP-RM machine.
Tangible Express's investment in the new Sinterstation® Pro SLS® reinforces the company's commitment to maintaining an unsurpassed fleet of RP-RM machines. Tangible Express now provides its fractional owners 20 platforms spread across 14 RP-RM units, all of which are less than one-year old.
The Tangible Express Sinterstation® Pro SLS® will be running 3D Systems' Duraform® EX, which is noteworthy for its outstanding toughness, excellent impact resistance and repeatable mechanical properties. Duraform® EX can make large prototype parts that yield end-use performance properties as well as final end-user parts in low- to mid-volume runs.
"At Tangible Express, we are freeing designers and manufacturers from the shackles of capital-intensive equipment," explains David A. McInnis, the visionary behind the RP-RM fractional ownership concept and chairman of Tangible Express and its parent company, US Reliant. "Designers, in particular, no longer need return to the 'drawing board' because their ideas can't be tooled. If you can draw it on a computer, our machines can produce it."
Unlike typical service bureaus, Tangible Express not only hosts, operates and maintains all of its equipment; it also sells ownership in the underlying assets. "Tangible Express clients aren't merely customers using the equipment, they are actually owners with all of the accompanying tax and balance sheet prerogatives afforded real owners," says McInnis.
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) machines are known for their abilities to produce parts from a broad range of materials, including polymers, metals and green sand. In addition to the Sinterstation® Pro SLS®, Tangible Express operates SLS HiQ® machines, which run Duraform Flex®, Duraform PA®, and Duraform GF® as well as Duraform Ex®.
Linde notes that one of the great benefits of using Tangible Express's new Sinterstation® Pro SLS® is that the machine makes parts that are durable and reliable enough to utilize in initial production runs. "Why wait for a tool to be made before beginning assembly of large machines, such as a concept car or airplane?" Linde asks. "Our machines can produce surrogate parts in just a few days so that assembly can move forward long before the real part is finished."
The ultimately benefit, Linde adds, is speed. "Companies can use SLS parts in the initial production runs for final assembly, which dramatically reduces the time to market," he notes. "Saving time is an enormous competitive advantage."
Designers, engineers and manufacturers interested in discovering how they can harness the power of fractional ownership to supercharge their performance are invited to contact Linde and his staff at 801-794-2466 or visit them online at www.tangibleexpress.com.

Facing Fierce Competition, R&D Turns to Corporate Seminar to Tap the Unconscious for Breakthroughs that Generate New Profits
R&D Divisions are in a constant race for the next breakthrough solution or idea. A new corporate seminar on How to Access the Unconscious for Breakthrough Insights promises to jump start researchers chasing cutting edge breakthroughs and patents, on demand. Mobilizing forty years experience and research with dreams and the unconscious, author and renowned expert Stase Michaels asserts it happens regularly and as easily achieved as learning to drive. Michaels backs the seminar with a money back guarantee and full confidentiality.
New York, NY (PRWEB) October 3, 2007 -- R&D Divisions are in a constant race for the next breakthrough solution or idea.
As stiff international competition fuels the need for R&D breakthroughs, corporations seek ways to maximize R&D dollars and slash development time. At the request of R&D professionals, Michaels schedules a four-day seminar at the corporation's selected location. Using personally developed techniques, she demonstrates how to present a problem to the unconscious to receive sought-after insights and solutions. Simultaneously, attendees learn easy techniques to understand dreams and the unconscious that can lead to increased breakthroughs and patent generation. Participants are not required to believe in the power of the unconscious or dreams; they simply try out what is presented. Michaels cites inventors, scientists and businessmen who made spontaneous advances using this approach and suggests it occurs regularly.
Seminar Benefits Multiple Industries
Michaels' seminar combines clear theory with hands-on practice. A passion for understanding how things work led Michaels to decipher the mechanics of the unconscious and its links to dreaming. Her experience as a former college professor enabled her to translate observations into concrete, easy to implement steps.
Seminar Converts the Unconscious into the Ultimate R&D Lab
Author of The Bedside Guide to Dreams (Ballantine, 3rd Ed. 2005) which enjoys a steady readership for over twelve years, Michaels states: "Problem solving is the default stance of the unconscious, a natural partner to the waking mind. The unconscious uses dreams as its main bridge to communicate insights." Michaels notes: "The unconscious can take highly specialized concepts already present in the mind and synthesize them into a new form. This clears the way for new ideas and patents that could otherwise take years and millions of dollars to create." Contrary to popular belief, she affirms that the mechanics of accessing the unconscious are now observable by the rare experts like herself whose background includes dream research, three degrees in psychology, college teaching, forty years experience, and two books, one in three editions.
Proven Track Record of the "Dreams-to-Patent" Insight Connection
Few know that Thomas Edison deliberately explored his unconscious. Edison regularly napped holding a brick, observing that as the brick fell, he awakened remembering a dream. His efforts led to 1,093 U.S. patents.
Elias Howe struggled with a sewing machine design whose needle pointed up, unable to hold cloth steady. Dream images such as a cannibal's spear with its head thrusting downward inspired him to place the needle face down, leading to a workable design. Howe's' patent remained the basic design for over 100 years.
Landmark Breakthrough in Science Created in Dream State
A young Einstein dreamed he was sledding down a steep mountainside, going faster and faster and approaching the speed of light which caused the stars in his dream to change their appearance. His autobiography records how contemplating the dream eventually led to his extraordinary scientific achievement, the principle of relativity.
Chicago Company Elated with Seminar Results
Company President Bob S. reviewed participants' assessments, commenting: "Attendees said the experience was very informative and enlightening. Many cited they learned much more than expected and took away concrete tools." Addressing their confidence to apply techniques, he stated: "Participants agreed that once they practice these simple steps, they will be able to do it."
Targeting content, he noted: "Outstanding material, focus and excellent work with individuals. Breaking down the process into tiny, simple parts, together with practice sessions, was very helpful. They thought the five steps of working with dreams were wonderful." His closing remarks cited: "The group was impressed by Michaels' knowledge and insight, and amazed at how she could cut right through to the meaning of a dream." He concluded: "An overall great job."
The Seminar that Guarantees Breakthroughs for R&D
Schedule a seminar and ensure that participants log their applications. Provide incentives for gaining insight using this method. If you are not receiving tangible breakthroughs within ninety days, you can obtain a full refund. All corporate interactions are strictly confidential.

Canadian Defense Department's R&D Center Validates Low-Intensity Green Light Therapy Technology for Night Shift Work
Sunnex Biotechnologies announces the Canadian Defense Department's R&D Center has determined that the Lo-LIGHT tower with its patented low-intensity GreenLIGHT technology is the best phototherapeutic (light therapy) device for light management in a night shift adaptation program. This study confirms the superiority of low-intensity Green LIGHT technology for light management in programs to improve the health and performance of night shift workers over other light therapy devices.
Winnipeg, MB (PRWEB) October 2, 2007 -- Sunnex Biotechnologies is pleased to announce that a study comparing phototherapeutic (light therapy) devices by the Canadian Defense Department's Research and Development Center confirms the effectiveness and advantages of their patented low-intensity GreenLIGHT technology over high-intensity light therapy technologies. (Aviation, Space and Environmental Medicine, July 2007).
The study was designed to select the optimal light therapy device for ongoing research into the use of light management to improve operational performance during night shift operations. Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) compared the Sunnex Biotechnologies Lo-LIGHT tower with the FeelBright Light™, experimental LED spectacles, and the Litebook®, a device that primarily emits blue light. The study concluded: "The (Lo-LIGHT) tower was the best device, producing melatonin suppression and circadian phase change while relatively free of side effects."
Improving Worker Performance and Health with Green Light Management
Murray Waldman, President of Sunnex Biotechnologies, explained "In today's 24-7 world, alertness is essential for operating complex equipment. Judgments made in a control room can have a major impact on operational safety. Light management is useful for improving the alertness and performance of night shift workers, while combating the health problems associated with night shift work. The study by DRDC demonstrates that the GreenLIGHT System is the most effective technology for bringing the benefits of light management into the work place."
GreenLIGHT and Light Management in the U.S. Coast Guard's CEMS Program
Waldman noted, "GreenLIGHT lamps were used to develop a light management protocol for the U.S. Coast Guard's Crew Endurance Management System (CEMS). The protocol was developed after years of trials on operational Coast Guard cutters and commercial vessels with GreenLIGHT lamps. These trials demonstrated the practicality of using this low-intensity Green Light technology in the workplace."
The CEMS program is in the process of being implemented by a number of commercial marine companies in the U.S. One customer, (Penn Maritime Inc.) reported in the September 2007 CEMS Newsletter, "tugboat crews are using the green light ...to help them get acclimated and allow them to get the proper amount of uninterrupted sleep they need. They find the green light helps them the more that they use it." European marine companies are also beginning to examine the benefits of a CEMS program for coping with fatigue on the night shift. A Norwegian marine company, Eidesvik AS, has had success with the GreenLIGHT System on platform supply vessels, and is expanding the use of the GreenLIGHT System on its fleet.
The GreenLIGHT System is Suitable for Any Work Site and Flexible on the Job
The GreenLIGHT System is adaptable to any workplace environment. Waldman invites inquiries from companies wishing to improve night shift safety and performance, as well as the health of their night shift workers.

Primus Telecom Has Completed Regus Group Roll-Out
Primus Telecom today announced it had completed the roll-out of a total telecommunications solution encompassing internet and fixed-line voice services utilising multiple e-SDHSL services via a new ADTRAN Multi-Service Access Platform (MSAP) for all Regus Business Centres nationally.
(PRWEB) October 1, 2007 -- Primus Telecom today announced it had completed the roll-out of a total telecommunications solution encompassing internet and fixed-line voice services utilising multiple e-SDHSL services via a new ADTRAN Multi-Service Access Platform (MSAP) for all Regus Business Centres nationally.
The Regus Group has 15 Business Centres in Australia (Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth) which are part of a network of 950 Business Centres in 70 countries worldwide. Primus Telecom is one of Australia's leading landline phone and broadband providers.
In delivering the total communications solution, Primus employed a new technology called Enhanced SHDSL (e-SHDSL) with multiple ULLs bonded via ADTRAN's Total Access 3010 MSAP and 238 NTU device. The multiple e-SHDSL services are delivered via recently purchased and installed ADTRAN systems in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The e-SHDSL services (100BaseT port) use up to 8 bonded ULLs (on distances under 1.1km) to deliver speeds in excess of 40Mb per second.
Primus Telecom Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr. Ravi Bhatia said, "The solution Primus has provided to the Regus Group is testament to our ability to tailor technology to our client's needs on the back of our own network."
"Primus was able to win this competitive tender because we were able to deliver the right technical solution at the most competitive price," Mr. Bhatia said.
Regus Group's General Manager, Australia and New Zealand, Mr. Ian Wheeler said, "We are extremely happy with not only the technical solution Primus provided us, but also the professional manner with which they have gone about the roll-out. They were responsive to our needs and willing to work cooperatively to give us the best outcome at the best price."
Regus' largest Australian business centres in Sydney's Darling Park and Citigroup Centre are serviced by a 100Mbps access built on dedicated Primus fibre running through common street conduits from Regus' premises, and splicing onto the Primus' Protected Fibre ring.
The fibre interface is configured to sustain up to 100Mbps throughput and have the bandwidth allocated on the link.
From a redundancy perspective, the Total Access 238 device is built on a number of separate ULLs. A failure of one or two of these copper pairs will result in an alarm, but will not result in a total outage. In fact, the service is considerably more robust than single line fibre, because no single line outage will drop the entire service.
"Our partnership with Primus will allow us to remain the pre-eminent provider of Business Centres in Australia, Mr Wheeler said.

New Website Supports Case Packer/Erector Joint Venture
A new Web site, http://www.versapack.co.uk, has been established to support a newly-developed compact case packing and erecting machine. Versapack is a joint venture between Quin Systems and Endoline, and is capable of handling 100 picks and 20 cases per minute.
Wokingham, England (PRWEB) September 29, 2007 -- A new Website, http://www.versapack.co.uk, has been established to support a newly-developed compact case packing and erecting machine. Versapack is a joint venture between Quin Systems and Endoline, and is capable of handling 100 picks and 20 cases per minute.
As well as product information and specifications, the new site provides technical drawings, CAD views and a 3D model of the machine. Visitors can view the packaging machine from any angle or perspective, zoom-in on areas of interest and save the model in a cross-platform format. Although Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher is required to view this eDrawings file, it can be viewed on other browsers if configured correctly.
In addition, there are links to the two companies' Web sites, and a contact form enables visitors to enquire further.
Combining Quin Systems' revolutionary RTheta™ high-speed picking head with Endoline's 220 series of case erectors, the new Versapack provides a complete, versatile end-of-line packaging solution inside a small 1800 x 1750mm footprint. It provides new options for high-speed case packing where automation has not hitherto been possible or economic.
The principle of Versapack is simple: an Endoline 220 series case erector frame is used to mount the Quin Casepacker picking head and a product feed conveyor, which results in the extremely compact footprint. Already installed in five production lines in the UK, Casepacker is proving the ideal choice for both single-player and more-demanding multi-layer applications. Its RTheta technology minimises inertia, enabling fast cycle speeds, whilst Quin's advanced motion control algorithms ensure smoother movement, resulting in less product damage, however fast the machine operates.
Versapack offers installers a flexible choice of layout options, from straight in-line, through 90-degree, to reverse case flow, with infeed module options available for rigid and flexible packs. Its versatile design allows a wide range of product types to be packed including shelf-ready packages. Applications range from roll-wrapped biscuits, through flow-wrapped wet-wipes to cartoned ready meals.
The Versapack is marketed in the UK directly by Quin and Endoline, with international sales handled through the companies' European and world-wide distribution networks.

Characterisation of Irradiated Material by Instrumented Indentation
In addition to standard tests, the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe is investigating the concept of characterisation of irradiated material by instrumented indentation. For this reason they purchased a ZHU0.2/Z2.5 modular testing system from the Zwick Roell Group (www.zwick.com) to assist them in their quest to investigate the material's mechanical properties after irradiation and to understand the irradiation damage mechanisms. Zwick was the only manufacturer who could provide a solution for this unique application.
Ulm, Germany (PRWEB) September 29, 2007 -- The Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (www.fzk.de) is one of the biggest science and engineering research institutions in Europe and funded jointly by the Federal Republic of Germany and the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Its research and development program is embedded in the superordinate program structure of the Hermann von Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers and concentrates on the five research areas of Structure of Matter, Earth and Environment, Health, Energy, and Key Technologies.
The Nuclear Fusion Programme bundles the activities of the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe which are related to the development of technologies for a fusion reactor. These activities under the contract of Association between EURATOM and Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe are carried out within the framework of the European Fusion Development Agreement. Fusion energy is associated with the wish to supply a safe and environmentally compatible source of energy that decisively contributes to the supply of mankind's electricity consumption for the next centuries.
The Institute for Materials Research (www.fzk.de/imf) is involved in the development and qualification of materials as well for highly loaded plasma-facing components of the DEMO plant and for the supporting structure of the components. The development aims at high-performance materials that allow for high operational temperatures and coolant pressures under the impact of high-energy neutrons. In addition, the materials should be low activating under neutrons in order to maintain the environmental attractiveness of fusion plants.
Structural materials such as EUROFER 97, for commercial fusion reactors with expected plant lifetimes of about 30 full power years, must allow for higher operational temperatures and coolant pressures and should also withstand high neutron fluences that cause material damage such as hardening, embrittlement, dimensional instability etc.
In addition to standard tests the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe is investigating the concept of characterisation of irradiated material by instrumented indentation.
The ZHU0.2/Z2.5 has a load range of 2 - 200N, and a displacement measuring resolution of 0.02m. The system is equipped with a fully automated X/Y table and Rockwell and Vickers indenters. The indentation can be viewed through a microscope fitted with a CCD camera.
The Zwick ZHU0.2/Z2.5 is installed in a gas tight hot cell with 200 mm lead / 500 mm lead glass shielding. It carries out multistage indentation tests (load/unload) with different holding times. Neural networks then evaluate the correlation between these test data and the parameters of a viscoplastic material model, normally acquired from tensile tests.
The unique operation of the indentation tester allows it to carry out precision loading cycles up to various forces and displacements with predetermined holding times during each cycle. testXpert® , Zwick's software platform for materials testing, is used to control the machine and obtain the synchronised force and indentation data. This data is then stored in a special format and transmitted to the neural network system to determine the material properties such as Young's Modulus, Yield and ultimate tensile strength as well as hardening coefficients.

Encouraging a Simpler Path to Green IT
As green IT products appear on the horizon, IT organizations can first rely on the basics of managing capacity and optimizing their infrastructure to reduce energy costs
Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 27, 2007 -- As pressure continues to mount for organizations and their data centers to go green, HyPerformix, the leader in predictive IT management, is encouraging CIOs and IT organizations to remember that environmentally friendly computing doesn't always require additional costs.
Before spending budget on new solutions, IT organizations need to first address the capacity levels of the current server solutions because surprisingly, most companies use only 15 to 20 percent of their current server capacity, according to Gartner research. And the electricity to run these servers accounts for nearly half of an organization's overall energy costs.
According to Forrester Research, burgeoning data centers and corporate PC populations have driven up IT's power consumption two fold over the last six years, accounting for roughly 3 percent of total U.S. electricity consumption. And nearly half the companies in the S&P 500 are actively reviewing their Corporate Social Responsibility policies.
Taking a proactive approach of managing capacity and optimizing the infrastructure already in place will save an organization millions of dollars, not only from energy and IT resource savings but also in capital expenditures, allowing the budget to be redirected back into innovation.
In response, technology vendors are scrambling to add a touch of green to as many products as possible, from server cooling systems, new processors that emphasize energy management over performance to environmental control devices that affect building heating and cooling conditions.
"The idea behind this approach is so obvious, yet we continue to see IT organizations add more hardware as the business side of the house demands more support for new initiatives," said Bruce Milne, HyPerformix vice president of products and marketing. "It's ironic, actually, that it's the business that generates demand on IT resources, yet complains the most about higher energy costs."
Demand on IT for server support comes from many growth initiatives within the company from mergers, acquisitions, new product releases and major software deployments. In most cases, IT organizations will over-compensate to meet these demands with additional hardware purchases, which only exacerbate the problem of under-utilization and drive up additional energy costs.
More than half of U.S. companies deploy virtualization technologies in the data center to help reduce cost and manage the demand generated by the business. Virtualization is instinctively the right thing to do, but it's too risky to virtualize business critical applications without having some insight into how they will perform under demanding conditions. To have insight that reduces risk, IT needs tools that enable them to predict performance before they make changes to their infrastructure and applications.
By accurately predicting server utilization, IT organizations can effectively cut their carbon footprint by reducing the number of servers in their data centers. This will also increase available space and make data centers more effective, without having to install special cooling features or environmental controls. More importantly, it will save money that can be reallocated for other more strategic initiatives, including environmental products and services, when the time is right. In this case, "green" is good for the environment and the bottom line.

Three Early Stage Companies Raise Capital from Private Investors through LAUNCHfn's Proven Process -- Discover The Capital Raising Secrets that Saved these Companies Precious Time and Money
Discover how three companies raised private investor money by tapping into Launch Funding Network's (GetInvestorMoney.com) strategies, resources, and investor community. Each company was rigorously screened, qualified, prepared and guided through LAUNCHfn's capital campaign process, leading to their successful funding through the Network of Business Angels & Investors. NBAI is considered the most demanding, yet active angel investor group in the Southeast.
Atlanta,GA (PRWEB) September 26, 2007 -- Raising Private Equity capital is difficult. Many companies never reach their goals in raising the capital they seek. Three companies recently discovered the secret to attracting the capital they need. Those secrets have been documented and made available to all companies coming to LAUNCHfn for assistance for free: Get Investor Money. LAUNCHfn is committed to helping small businesses succeed by bringing needed resources and capital to them so they can grow and become profitable businesses. When companies are ready, they are offered the opportunity to present to the Network of Business Angels & Investors at their Private Equity Investor Forum, held 6 times a year. The three companies receiving investment capital through the NBAI membership and later syndicated through the Launch Funding Network in the first half of this year are Vystar, Tego, and Tricycle.
Small business owners come to Launch Funding Network when they need help preparing and attracting capital. Sometimes they have struggled trying to find capital on their own. Often they have had some success but have hit a wall. They need help to move from their affinity group to the world of objective investors. Objective investors are those private equity investors that are in the "business of investing". They are harder to attract because they want to invest in businesses that have viable business models, good management teams, and unique products that have potential to create new markets or dominate existing markets.
Vystar is an innovative life sciences company that has invented a way to isolate the protein in latex that causes the allergic reaction to latex. They have licensed their patented process to one of the largest manufacturers of latex in the world and expect their non-allergenic latex, called Vytex, to hit the market in late 2007. They began working with LAUNCHfn in early 2006, gaining approval to present at a spring NBA&I Private Equity Investor Forum. Many NBA&I members made the decision to invest in Vystar as a bio-tech investmentn opportunity. LAUNCHfn continued to offer advice and counsel, engaging such services as their in-house legal counsel and part-time CFO services. Further LAUNCHfn, was able to help Vystar syndicate with investors from other markets, with the greatest response coming from an angel investor group in New York. LAUNCHfn continues to work with Vystar as they move to different rounds of funding and require more complex services.
Tego offers manufacturing, transportation and distribution industries a breakthrough technology that delivers a passive (no battery), yet programmable RFID tag for storing 1000 times more data in memory than today's RFID tags, yet it can still be read by standard existing RFID readers. AirAdvice Launching New Advanced Home Diagnostic Solutions: HomeAdvice™ System Now Provides Expanded Capability for HVAC Contractors
New and expanded HomeAdvice™ solutions deliver advanced home diagnostic capabilities and make it easy for contractors to show where there are problems in the home and how to fix them.
Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) September 26, 2007 -- AirAdvice, Inc. is opening new doors for residential HVAC contractors by launching expanded advanced home diagnostics solutions. Fully compatible with existing full-featured AirAdvice monitors, the new HomeAdvice™ solutions include:
Wireless monitors measure multiple locations for more complete comfort and energy savings analysis
A communication gateway transmits data via cellular network to the HomeAdvice server, eliminating the need for a standard land line
New SmartIAQ Plus™ reports effectively highlight comfort issues and opportunities to save energy
The HomeAdvice system makes it easy for HVAC contractors to offer zoning, ventilation, energy, and indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions. The innovative, easy-to-use system now combines powerful wireless diagnostic tools and personalized reports with enhanced capability to show where there are problems in the home and how to fix them.
"HomeAdvice delivers more of what our contractors told us they wanted," says Isaac Simpson, vice president of contractor services at AirAdvice. "More diagnostics, more information for their customers on energy and system performance. HomeAdvice is about helping contractors serve their customers. We've got some exciting new technology and program updates - it's a whole new level of home diagnostics, developed as a direct result of contractor input and initiative."
The new and expanded HomeAdvice features give contractors the ability to quickly and easily identify hot and cold spots in the home through simultaneous multi-room testing, as well as sophisticated time-based diagnosis of the most common indoor environment issues: humidity, temperature, particle allergens, chemical pollutants, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide.
Every HomeAdvice report illustrates test results and recommendations for customers along with important educational information, detailed analysis sections, and colorful charts and graphs. In addition, the new HomeAdvice SmartIAQ Plus™ report lets contractors easily combine data from multiple monitors into a single, comprehensive report.
"The way the new [SmartIAQ Plus report displays temperatures from different areas in the home is a selling point for me," says Ted Kirkland at Bland Air Conditioning & Heating in Bakersfield, California. "It shows people that they have hot and cold spots in their home, which opens doors for me. I can sell more variable speed systems that way."
The updated HomeAdvice reports offer additional advantages to help contractors visually demonstrate problems and offer the right solutions. The Outdoor Environment page more effectively shows the outdoor temperature and humidity at the test location. The Energy Use page features a specific energy recommendation plus new "green" and programmable thermostat sections to better show homeowners how an equipment upgrade might impact their energy bill and their carbon footprint.
"We've had success using AirAdvice to sell equipment upgrades and add-on IAQ solutions," says Jonathan Moscatello, comfort advisor at Oregon Heating and HomeAdvice system beta tester. "Now, with the new [HomeAdvice technology, we can reach the next level. We can clearly demonstrate the need for zoning and sell more high efficiency systems. This ties directly to our focus on whole home systems overall."

MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket Creates Own Load, Dramatically Increases Reliability
Self- Loading Gasket is Perfect for a Wide Range of MRO Applications.
Palmyra, N.Y. (PRWEB) September 25, 2007 -- Garlock Sealing Technologies, a leader in Fluid Sealing technology for more than 100 years, has launched the MULTI-SWELL™ gasket, a proprietary new gasketing material that performs well under Low Load conditions. The world's first general service Self-Loading Gasket, MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket creates its own load when it comes into contact with oil or water, virtually eliminating the most common cause of Gasket failure - insufficient load.
Self-Loading Gasket is Well-Suited for MRO Applications
This revolutionary new material performs equally well in oil or water, does not degrade in contact with oils, and adapts easily to all types of flange designs, making the MULTI-SWELL™ gasket ideal for a broad range of other applications -- all at a cost comparable to conventional Gasket materials. As the Self-Loading Gasket seals flanges in less than perfect conditions, minimizing maintenance, the MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket is particularly well-suited for MRO applications.
"More than 70% of all Gasket failures are due to lack of load," said Tim Hurley, Garlock product manager. "Multi-Swell generates and maintains its own load. It works well even in combination with flanges in poor condition or flanges designed for soft, low performance gaskets."
MULTI-SWELL™ Ensures Tight Seals with Low Load
Twice as soft as conventional gaskets, the MULTI-SWELL™ gasket is easy to cut and readily conformable even to irregular flanges, ensuring a tight seal with a Low Load. The MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket features extremely high crush strength and can be safely installed in applications that would typically crush Elastomeric Gaskets. In applications such as transmissions and air conditioning systems, where vibration often causes bolt load loss or where load loss occurs because of bolt relaxation, the gasket counters that
loss to prevent leakage and weeping. Because it performs well under Low Load conditions, the MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket can be used with confidence even with plastic or cast iron flanges.
MULT-SWELL™ Reduces Costs for Fluid Sealing Applications
The MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket is ideal for Fluid Sealing because it is both environment-friendly and budget-friendly. Using Multi-Swell actually reduces the expenses associated with vegetable fiber and cork gaskets. Cork and vegetable fiber gaskets' capillary leak paths require the use of absorbent oil pads, create oil loss and safety issues, and sometimes necessitate expensive water treatment when leakage occurs. The use of the MULTI-SWELL™ gasket eliminates these costs and environmental risks associated with using other Elastometric Gaskets. Its versatility makes the MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket ideal for applications such as: compressors, pumps, gear boxes, transformers, fuel pumps and cast water flanges.
MULTI-SWELL™ is Ideal Solution for Applications that Typically Crush Elasometric Gaskets
The MULTI-SWELL™ Gasket can be purchased through an authorized Garlock distributor or visit www.garlock.com and go to "Representative Locator" to contact a local Garlock representative. Pricing is available on request.

Eagle's Foodservice Equipment Attains UL 197 Rev 9 Certification from Underwriters Laboratories
Eagle Foodservice Equipment announces that its entire product line has been certified to meet Underwriters Laboratories’ new rigorous UL 197 Rev 9 standards for commercial kitchen equipment.
Clayton, DE (Vocus/PRWEB ) September 25, 2007 -- Eagle Foodservice Equipment announces that its entire product line has been certified to meet Underwriters Laboratories’ new rigorous UL 197 Rev 9 standards for commercial kitchen equipment. Among the Eagle products tested and certified include Panco® cook-and-hold cabinets, Panco® transport systems, chef preparation stations, heated drawers, and the full range of Red Hots® countertop cooking and warming equipment, among others.
The UL 197 Rev 9 standard combines the National Electric Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards for commercial kitchen equipment – thereby making it the most challenging one for today’s product manufacturers to meet. Products that comply with the very latest UL 197 standards mean that customers can use those products with the greatest level of assurance that the equipment has been properly designed to protect against workplace injury, loss of life, and property damage.
Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is one of the nation’s oldest and best-known independent testing firms. Established in 1894 as a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization to help reduce the incidence of injuries, loss of life and property damage due to faulty equipment design, UL scientifically investigates and tests thousands of products, materials and systems every year to evaluate electric, fire and casualty hazards. The UL 197 standard for commercial kitchen equipment is just one of nearly three dozen categories in six major product groups that are evaluated by the organization.
Eagle was one of the first manufacturers to obtain UL 197 Rev 9 certification for its entire foodservice equipment line. “We believe it’s best for our customers to be able to select products with complete confidence that they’re in compliance with the very latest ,” Larry McAllister, president, explained. “That’s why we made it such a high priority to have not just some, but all of our products tested – and to ensure that each one meets or exceeds the most rigorous testing criteria being conducted in our field today.”
