Comtech Launch PSTN and GSM/GPRS Routers for Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Telemetry Applications
Adapt Ethernet machines to communicate over PSTN or GSM/GPRS public networks. Create your own standalone network for easy remote access. Free equipment from the restrictions imposed by the end customers wired LAN network.
(PRWEB) February 13, 2005 -- Comtech Holdings Ltd (www.comtechM2M.com), the leading Machine-to-Machine (M2M) Solution Provider, today announce the release of the µWEBox eRouter family with two products which enable Ethernet-based machines to communicate over public Wide Area Networks (WAN
1. The µWEBox eRouter GSM/GPRS Router connects Ethernet devices over wireless GSM/GPRS
2. The µWEBox eRouter PSTN Router connects Ethernet devices over the PSTN network.
Companies often find it difficult to remotely access a machine deployed at an end-customers site via their Ethernet Local Area Network (LAN). They are prevented by firewalls that isolate public and private networks and often by the end-customers I.T. department who prevent "alien" machines utilising their network. Furthermore, there are many cases where the machine is located in geographical isolated or mobile locations, where no Local Area Network exists.
The µWEBox eRouters overcome these problems by creating a standalone network with its own Wide Area Network (WAN) access point to the public PSTN, GSM, GPRS networks and/or the Internet. The Ethernet port of the remote equipment is adapted by the router for WAN connectivity, which supports "Dial-in", "Dial-out" and "Always Connected" modes of operation. Each µWEBox eRouter provides PPP encapsulation of TCP/IP data and supports Network Address Translation (NAT), IP forwarding, DHCP server, DNS, UDP, PING and ARP protocols. The µWEBox eRouters are housed in a rugged aluminium enclosure and can be operated within a wide 8 to 40 volt power supply range. Available NOW.
Applications
* Stand-alone network - where equipment can be remotely accessed without needing to use the end customers LAN e.g. security surveillance camera's, access control, electronics displays, HVAC etc. Examples extend to PC's located within the end customer site, which are running applications e.g. for Postal and Courier service companies.
* Remote Isolated equipment - where there is no LAN infrastructure e.g. passenger information systems, traffics systems, security surveillance and industrial automation etc.
* Leased Equipment - where equipment is regularly re-located e.g. generators, chillers, compressors, industrial plant hire, heating equipment, etc.
* Network Back-up - where a secondary remote access route is required if the there is a failure through the customers LAN e.g. Building automation systems, Epos systems, CHP systems, generators, UPS etc.
* Mobile Equipment - where it is not possible to create a wired WAN connection e.g. transportation such as rail and taxi's where PC's, cameras, HVAC, EPOS systems and other assets can be networked to the outside world.
"Our PSTN, GSM and GPRS Routers reduce the barrier to sales of ethernet-based equipment, by providing remote access to them where ever they are located; reducing the dependancy on the end-customers network", said Steve Whitehead, Technical Director, Comtech Holdings Ltd. "Not only are the installation and maintenance costs reduced, but new business opportunities can be created by gaining remote access to the important information within the machine where previously this was not possible. As an example, charging for leased equipment may be increased dependant on how and when it is operated, especially if these fall outside permitted limits ".
Development Tools - This launch is complemented with the release of a development Starter Kit to simplify evaluation and aid design integration.
Customisation - Comtech offer design customisations for µWEBox eRouter PSTN and GSM/GPRS routers, by incorporating customer and market specific application needs.

"Many of our new customers have been interested in the vending industry for years," says CEO, Terry Bird, "and vending machines sales are at a record level because consumers are purchasing fresh candy, toys, gumballs, soda, sandwiches, and snacks at record levels. Our machines can vend all these products," says Bird, "while many of the machines on the market today cannot."
Are North American Vending Machines more expensive than plastic machines? "Yes." says Bird, "Chrome and metal are more expensive than plastic, but you have to purchase our vending machines just once while most of our customers have purchased 3, 4, and 5 plastic machines, and have already discovered the problems with plastic."
“Yes,” says Bird, “once you own just one plastic machine you understand immediately that our machines would be inexpensive at twice the price because you simply cannot earn money from a broken, plastic machines that breaks down again and again -- and worse, you lose your vending locations because customers complain to the store about machines that do not work.”
Vending, and vending machines are becoming more and more popular for people as a business opportunity, for those who want to start a small business, for those who want to start a business, for those who want a home-based business, and for those want to work at home and make money or earn money. Cotton Tillage Machine Helps Clean Valley Air
This one-pass farm tool makes it easy for growers to comply with new air quality regulations.
Bakersfield, CA (PRWEB) January 6, 2005 -- In the San Joaquin Valley of California air quality is a top priority. The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency declared this rich agricultural region a "non-attainment" area under the federal Clean Air Act. The culprit is particulate matter of 10 microns or smaller (PM10) from dust and diesel engine exhaust. Although they were exempt in the past, the law now requires farmers to reduce PM10 to clean the Valley's air, one of the worst in the nation. Farmers must choose specific conservation management practices (CMP) that include conservation tillage, a method of working the soil that cuts down on the number of trips over the field. This system reduces the amount of PM10 dust particles that enter the air.
A company in Bakersfield, Interstate Equipment & Mfg. Corp., builds a patented one-pass tillage machine for cotton growers. After the cotton crop is harvested, the Interstate Shredder-Bedder digs down into the soil and extracts the entire cotton plant and root, crushes and shreds it and reshapes the same beds all in a single pass over the field. The shredded plant residue decomposes quickly and becomes vital organic matter to enrich the soil and help prevent wind and water erosion. Growers can then plant the following crop back into the previous beds. Two and four-row machines are available with larger self-propelled, multi-purpose units in the works. The Shredder-Bedder is ideal for "controlled-traffic farming" and is adaptable to global positioning systems technology (GPS).
Eliminating multiple tillage operations such as heavy disking and plowing dramatically reduces PM10 dust emissions. Additional benefits of conservation tillage include less air pollution from diesel engines, less fuel usage, less soil compaction and better water penetration. Recent tests by the University of California show substantial savings for growers who use this system.
Concern for the quality of life in the San Joaquin Valley is a high priority as the population continues to increase rapidly in this agricultural area. Conservation tillage technology helps clean the Valley's air. The Interstate Shredder-Bedder makes it easy for cotton growers to comply with new California CMP regulations. This farming system is friendly to the environment and a model for the future of sustainable agriculture.

FlexLink’s new generation printed circuit board platform offers high quality, reliable solutions for a wide range of handling requirements. These high throughput modules provide transport, product buffering/accumulation and a full range of handling and routing alternatives.
The modules have been designed to eliminate shafts and bellows in the existing production line by incorporating a dual motor, ESD-safe belt system. High speed, accuracy and reliability on all lifting functions are achieved via a servo-control package. The entire product range utilizes only three belt sizes, thereby simplifying spares and maintenance.
With an international network and more than 20 years experience in all aspects of printed circuit board handling applications, FlexLink is also able to provide expertise in project management, installation and commissioning as well as local service support. At AUTOMATE we invite you to find out how we can become your first choice for easier automation.
We look forward to seeing you at AUTOMATE 2004!
