PC-Doctor Software to Support Verification of Intel(R) Active Management Technology
Diagnostics Leader Also Begins to Explore Opportunities to Drive Additional Advantages in Enterprise IT Organizations over Intel AMT
Reno, NV (PRWEB) May 31, 2005 -- PC-Doctor Inc. (www.pc-doctor.com), the leading global developer of hardware diagnostic and system information tools, today announced plans to support Intel® Advanced Management Technology (AMT) through diagnostic tests that verify the operation of the new technical capability. The company also said it has begun to explore how PC-Doctor® diagnostics can be further deployed to deliver an advantage to enterprise organizations responsible for support of managed personal computers.
PC-Doctor’s announcement coincides with the rollout of a new Intel Professional Platform, which received public support from leading PC manufacturers in the United States and Asia. PC-Doctor diagnostics are used by major PC manufacturers to reduce costs, improve productivity and enhance quality.
Intel AMT gives IT support organizations unprecedented remote access to discover, heal and protect networked PC assets, regardless of the state of the operating system or platform power. The results are more efficient management of networked PCs and significantly reduced IT operating costs, according to Intel.
“Our customers are very interested in AMT’s advantages and have asked that we include verification support for the new Intel technology in our diagnostic products,” said Aki Korhonen, president and chief technology officer of PC-Doctor. “Additionally, we believe there may well be new ways in which we can deliver other advantages to PC manufacturers, network management software providers, and enterprise IT organizations by a marriage of our diagnostics with other products.”
Intel AMT helps solve a long-standing challenge for IT organizations: When network PCs misbehave, repairs often require multiple desk-side trips. A combination of the AMT technology and networked diagnostics such as those integrated into the recently introduced PC-Doctor 5 architecture would let IT support perform hardware troubleshooting over the network – even if the target PC’s main power was off or the operating system was malfunctioning.

“COMP-LETE” Compostable Bags from Fortune Plastics - the Newest Approval by the Biodegradable Products Institute
Today, the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) announced its certification of Fortune Plastics “COMP-LETE”TM Compostable Bags. These products offer superior strength and compostability, as well as availability through Fortune’s established distributor network. BPI’s “Compostable Logo” is awarded to products that meet ASTM D6400, assuring end users and composters that the bags will biodegrade swiftly and safely during municipal, commercial, or household composting.
(PRWEB) May 24, 2005 -- Fortune has been busy for the past few years test marketing a similar product made by their sister company in Germany. This technology has now been brought to the United States and production has begun. “Made from MATER BI™ material, this product has been proven to outperform anything else on the market today,” said Ed Gillespie, President of Fortune Plastics. “COMP-LETE™ passes current ASTM 6400 requirements with flying colors,” said Gillespie.
Compostable bags and liners carrying the BPI symbol, such as COMP-LETE’s are ideal for collecting food scraps and yard trimmings for composting. They disintegrate and biodegrade quickly and safely and will not leave plastic residues in the finished compost.
“With the growing number of BPI approved products, purchasers and end users will find it easier than ever before to use products that offer superior performance and are tailored to source separated collection programs”, stated Steve Mojo, BPI Executive Director. “Today, residential and commercial food scrap programs are in place from San Francisco, CA to Prince Edward Island, Canada,” Mojo added.
Replacing non-degradable trash bags with compostable ones, helps composters reduce processing, separation and disposal costs, while keeping consumers collection bins clean, which encourages participation. “While the COMP-LETE™ product is presented at a higher price-point than conventional bags, its value is justified by the fact that it has broken through the myth that trash bags will not degrade,” said Andy Miles, Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
COMP-LETE™ bags can now be purchased through any of the thousands of Fortune Plastics distributors throughout the country. “Our distributors will need to work with their customers to establish buying patterns and to make sure that they have adequate stock of COMP-LETE bags to meet their needs,” added Miles.
In business since 1955, Fortune Plastics is a management owned company with plants in Chicago, Phoenix, Nashville, Orlando and Old Saybrook, CT.
BPI is a multi-stakeholder group, involving people and organizations that produce, use or recover biodegradable plastic products. It promotes the growth of biodegradable plastics through education, use of scientifically-based standards and cooperative efforts with organizations in Europe and Asia.

Industrial Power Sales brings "New" Bar Code Scanning Equipment to the Automotive Assembly Market
Industrial Power Sales partners with Symbol technologies to bring bar code scanning equipment into the automotive assembly market.
(PRWEB) May 31, 2005 -- Industrial Power Sales has signed a partnership agreement with Symbol Technologies. Symbol offers bar code scanner technologies which connect data to the decision maker for greater productivity, competitiveness and profitability. Bar code scanners are making their way into the manufacturing industry as manufacturers realize how this technology can help them remain competitive.
Symbol offer manufacturers a way to cut cost without cutting their quality by focusing on improving inventory controls. Two-dimensional (2D) bar codes allow manufacturers to code and collect more information on smaller and difficult-to-label components. This gives manufacturers and their customers the ability to track inventory from the time the parts are received in-house through the finished product. Through this process manufacturers get the benefit of cost savings associated with tighter inventory controls. Industrial Power Sales IT Director Dawson Roark states, “We are very excited to partner with Symbol and be able to offer this new technology to our automotive assembly customers. Bar coding and scanner technologies will help our customers reduce data entry errors, increase efficiency and productivity, and reduce the cost of assembly”.

AAT Announces Better Cleaning for Plastic FOUPs, Carriers for Wafer Processing
Austin American Technology (AAT) has developed effective cleaning systems and solutions for plastic FOUPs (Front Opening Unified Pods), Front Opening Shipping Boxes (FOSBs), and other plastic wafer handling carriers and devices used in semiconductor processing.
(PRWEB) May 29, 2005 -- Austin American Technology (AAT) has developed effective cleaning systems and solutions for plastic FOUPs (Front Opening Unified Pods), Front Opening Shipping Boxes (FOSBs), and other plastic wafer handling carriers and devices used in semiconductor processing. The cleaning chemistries in AAT’s conveyorized or batch cleaning systems, plus effective media isolation technology effectively remove such contaminants as inks, fingerprints, oily spots, glue residue, and even silicone mold release agents used in initial plastic parts manufacture. The chemistries do not harm the plastics and will clean them to the required cleanliness (cleanroom) specified levels while preventing recontamination or contamination migration.
AAT’s conveyorized cleaning systems such as the HydroJet and MicroJet offer high-speed cleaning and high-velocity drying with blowers fitted with HEPA filters to preclude any re-contamination, a feature necessary in cleanroom environments and particularly in semiconductor wafer processing. Drying is fast, complete (especially FOUP doors), spot-free and residue-free, and the operator is not exposed to any of the cleaning chemistry.
AAT’s The Mega™ II is a revolutionary closed-loop, solvent regenerative, cleaning system ideal for the stringent demands of FOUP cleaning. This large-capacity batch system features quantitative ion detection and statistical process control capability and automated operation especially suited for the stringent demands of semiconductor processing. Mega™ II wash and rinse cycles incorporate a highly effective spray under immersion process, with strategically located venturi nozzles for maximum cleaning efficiency of odd-shaped parts and system components. The agitation can be controlled to handle hard to clean, tight tolerance part designs; an ultrasonics assist is available as an option for extremely tough cleaning requirements.
AAT cleaning systems for FOUPs and plastic carriers and parts offer closed loop fluids recycling and/or solvent regeneration in an environmentally responsible family of products with tight process control and flexibility. AAT cleaning systems also offer low cost of ownership and operation due to efficient operation, low solvent cost and reduced dragout, fast cycle times, and a variety of cleaning configuration options.

CustomDesignTechnologies Provides Control Board, Keypad & Enclosure For Commecial Kitchen Cleaning System
The multiple design and production skills of customDesignTechnologies have combined to provide a leading commercial kitchen cleaning system with a control board, keypad and PCB enclosure.
(PRWEB) May 28, 2005 -- The multiple design and production skills of customDesignTechnologies have combined to provide a leading commercial kitchen cleaning system with a control board, keypad and PCB enclosure.
The Grime Reaper® is a user friendly automatic deep soak cleaning system designed for use in commercial kitchens. Fully automatic, the Grime Reaper uses a safe pH balanced detergent and a tank that operates simply and safely.
The cleaning system features touch panel controls and audio warnings for indicating various operations such as when to add detergent, when to empty and clean the tank and so on. Commonly in use 24 hours per day, the Grime Reaper simply and safely cleans kitchen utensils made from a wide variety of materials including stainless steel, aluminium, cast iron, steel and plastics that will not warp at the solution temperature.
The design of the Grime Reaper cleaning systems required a controller PCB, suitable enclosure and a touch panel for operator interface. For a number of years the company had been using Lexor to design and manufacture control boards and Bafbox to produce an enclosure for the PCB.
When Bafbox evolved into customDesignTechnologies and acquired Lexor, Grime Reaper Products benefitted from having a single source for both these elements of the system. In addition, the customKeypads division of customDesignTechnologies was able to provide the membrane keypad for the touch panel controls.
Christine Chatfield of Grime Reaper Products commented, "Having used Lexor and Bafbox previously, it was a straightforward step to have customDesignTechnologies supply us with the PCB, enclosure and keypad for the Grime Reaper cleaning systems. Over six years, we had always had an excellent level of service and this has continued. We can always count on a prompt and helpful response to any queries and have never had any problems."
"We are already designing the next generation of Grime Reaper cleaning systems and customDesignTechnologies is closely involved in that process." she concluded.

Some Significant Points to Note
1.Diversity Leaders UK is the only visible minority organisation in Europe to LEAD on diversity issues, one which is helping to make the UK a front runner in diversity management and practice. By November 2004, organisations representing more than 12 million employees in the UK (an average of more than 2 million per year) had entered the British Diversity Award since their ceation, the largest impact for any awards in this country.
2. Diversity Leaders UK is a not-for-profit organisation (with a small committed team of 5) which has never received any form of public grants despite its unique and effective work in changing perception, making a difference to workplace practice, and encouraging individual achievement nationwide. Despite its size and small resources, Diversity Leaders UK is the only organisation of its type led by an African Caribbean, and has quietly gone from strength to strength in its promotion of inclusiveness and good practice.
3. The work of Diversity Leaders UK depends upon sponsorship, donations and goodwill. We welcome collaboration and partnership with all communities, particularly the White majority group who can make the biggest difference, and from genuine diversity practitioners throughout the country.
12 Years of making a difference 1993-2005
Why not share the celebrations with us by supporting our work of inclusion in this special anniversary year?

Mozzee Thrills US Market with Funky Nest High Chair
Designed by Australian designer Sally Dominguez for Mozzee, the Nest high chair is finally available in the United States. Minimalist form combined with superior function, this three-in-one Nest chair provides unmatched stability and comfort for babies and children from six months to six years.
(PRWEB) May 27, 2005 -- Designed by Australian designer Sally Dominguez for Mozzee, the Nest high chair is finally available in the United States. Minimalist form combined with superior function, this three-in-one Nest chair provides unmatched stability and comfort for babies and children from six months to six years. The compact shape and stable powder coated tulip base enable the Nest to be pulled right into the table with no tripping hazards. The UV stabilized polyethylene curved seat and tray simply wipe clean. A machine washable 5-point safety harness is supplied with the Nest. Australian designed and built in Italy, the Nest meets all U.S. safety regulations.
“There is no other chair on the market or design registered in the world utilizing this form for this function.” So says Maine-based web designer and dad, Mark Woodbury – co-founder of sparkability -- a website selling toys and modern furniture for children. “The Nest breaks new ground for children’s furniture – and high chairs in particular.” High chairs on the market uniformly have four legs and take on a traditional upright seat look – emulating an adult chair. The plastic variety are generally very upright, and the padded variety are renowned for being difficult to keep clean.
The form of the Nest high chair is the most innovative feature of the product: the combination of the fact that the Nest is so easy to keep clean with its pleasing appearance is a first in children’s high chairs. The form reflects the function of the chair as a safe feeding seat for babies and children – yet no other chair currently on the market and used for the same purpose takes this form. The external form plays an integral part in the function of the chair: the curved surface is based on the wiping motion used to clean the chair. This single “wipe” results in a simple easy-to-clean curve which cups the child in a deep bucket seat. The deep seat allows babies just able to sit to be cupped and thus not fall forward. The chair is expressed as a sphere to enable it to provide maximum seating room in the smallest possible space – the compact sphere combined with the tulip base allows the chair to accommodate a large age range whilst occupying minimum air space. Anecdotal evidence from older child users of the chair shows that the deep scoop seat is comfortable over long periods of time.
Easy to clean, easy to use, safe, long life usage, and durable, the Nest chair represents a new form for children’s highchairs – a simple solution to the routine hazards of child feeding. It is the only chair on the market worldwide which offers tray feeding for babies in combination with the following attributes: the ability to pull up to the table, the ability to clean the seat completely and hygienically with a simple wipe, and complete with use of a five point harness. The form is important because it not only reflects and refers to these functions, but gives the chair a character which sets it apart from any other children’s chair on the market.
Mozzee’s Nest is revolutionizing the form of children's high chairs worldwide.
Dimensions: 32.11" h x 17.73" d
Weight: 25.4 lbs
Color options: white or black

“Combining QuantumSphere’s nanosilver with Dermacia’s Nano2infusion technology will further solidify Dermacia’s position as the industry leader in state-of-the-art ‘breathable’ cosmeceutical products which promote oxygenation and healing of the skin, which is currently a huge unmet consumer need,” said Matt A. ImageID Announces New Release of Visidot™ AIDC Product Suite, an “Alternative to RFID” for Manufacturers, Retailers
Visidot System Is Cost-Effective, Standards-Based Alternative to RFID for Multiple Asset Tracking - ImageID Ltd. today introduced a new version of its Visidot™ Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) system – an accurate and cost-effective solution for rapid multiple-asset AIDC and asset tracking.
Tel Aviv, Israel (PRWEB) May 26, 2005 -- ImageID Ltd. today introduced a new version of its Visidot™ Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) system – an accurate and cost-effective solution for rapid multiple-asset AIDC and asset tracking.
In the Visidot System (http://www.visidot.com), assets are uniquely labeled with standard 2D Data Matrix barcodes or with Visidot Colorcodes. As assets pass in front of the Visidot Reader, the reader captures hundreds of labels simultaneously and transmits the information to an image processing system, which decodes the data from each label. This asset data is exported to a data management system in XML or other standard format. Images can be stored in a separate Image Bank. An easy-to-use Site Management System controls the entire process.
The new Visidot release introduces the ability to detect and decode all variations of the Standard (ISO/IEC 16022) Data Matrix 2D barcode symbology with unprecedented speed and accuracy. Support for this standard symbology is added to the commercially proven Visidot Colorcode symbology.
“Today, the Visidot system delivers all the inherent benefits of traditional barcode technology, yet far surpasses it in terms of speed and efficiency of code capture – especially for tracking multiple assets,” said Roger Hecker, Product Marketing Manager for Visidot. “In addition, at accuracy levels of near-100% in actual installations, the Visidot solution is both more reliable and more cost-effective than RFID solutions.”
Industry-Proven
The Visidot system is field proven in key manufacturing and retail industry applications, including inbound and outbound shipment verification, management of reusable assets and identification of labels from long distances and in a large field of view.
- Tracking & Tracing Reusable Assets: IFCO Systems, a leading supplier of reusable plastic containers (RPC's) with more than 260 million rentals per year, was looking for a way to track each of its millions of RPC's throughout its network of over 40 RPC Service Centers and Storage depots all over Europe and North America. The Visidot solution is providing IFCO traceability of labeled crates, real-time views of inventory at depots, views of crate cycle times, accurate records of customer shipments/returns, and the foundation for improving customer request response time.
- Managing Bulky Assets in Manufacturing: Positioning bulky assets in automotive and aerospace manufacturing for traditional barcode scanning is often impractical or even impossible, as is RFID scanning involving metal assets or in metal-heavy environments.
The Ford Motor Company successfully installed a Visidot AIDC System at the Ford F150 plant in Dearborn to improve production speed and increase plant efficiency. The Ford plant, which produces Ford F150's, uses a fully automated Build Order system to produce its trucks. With multiple frame types to choose from, the company was looking for the most efficient way to expedite verification of the chassis type as it was being placed onto the production line. In December 2004, the company decided to install the Visidot system at the frame entrance to the plant to identify and verify the correct selection of the chassis type before it reached the conveyor belt inside. The newly installed Visidot reader captures a 2D Data Matrix label affixed to each chassis and confirms, in real-time with Ford’s production line controller, that the chassis is correct and can enter the assembly line. Since installation, the system accuracy has been perfect - 100%.
- Shipping Verification: In the retail supply chain field, the Visidot can help reduce costly charge-backs from retail customers by verifying all of the boxes in each outbound order and to use the stored image from each read as proof of shipment and condition.
The Visidot system components and features include:
- The Visidot Reader consists of a robust processing module and up to four image capture devices. The image capture devices scan assets in a large field of view, such as a full pallet load, and send digital images to the processor, running the Visidot Detect & Decode software. The Detect & Decode software, a set of sophisticated algorithms, detects all of the 2D Data Matrix barcodes or Visidot Colorcodes in the images and decodes them. The decoded data is transferred to the WMS, ERP, EDI or other system via standard data formats such as XML or RS-232. The entire reading process, from image capture to data export of hundreds of codes, takes only a few seconds. The highly accurate data provides real-time per-asset traceability, verification of outbound/inbound movements and updated inventory data.
- The Visidot Viewer, located at every reading point, provides a visual display of each read and its detections and enables immediate corrective action. For example, by automatically comparing the actual shipments with order data from WMS, OMS and EDI systems, the Viewer enables warehouse personnel to see, in real-time, which items are missing or not supposed to be on a pallet and add or remove items from the shipment.
- Visidot Image Bank Server stores the images and decoded data from all reads at a site and enables quick access for viewing past reads. Having a visual record of each read provides powerful evidence for proof of quantity and condition for every item in every shipment.
- Visidot Site Management System is a centralized management console that configures and monitors all Visidot Readers at a customer facility. With the ability to view recent reads from all readers, configure parameters and monitor performance, the Visidot Site Management System ensures fast corrective actions and optimal system performance.
“Through our commitment to global barcode standards such as the robust Data Matrix symbology, we are well poised for mainstream adoption of the Visidot solution throughout the supply chain,” said Rami Kopelman, VP Sales, Marketing and Business Development for Visidot. “Visidot's leadership in multiple-asset data capture is solidified – the ability to capture hundreds of standard codes in a single read, with proven near-100% accuracy, is unmatched by any barcode or RFID solution."
The latest version of ImageID’s Visidot™ Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) system is available immediately. For additional information, visit http://www.visidot.com.
About ImageID and Visidot
ImageID, the provider of the Visidot™ solution (http://www.visidot.com), develops and markets advanced multiple-asset Automatic Identification and Data Capture (AIDC) solutions. Based on imaging technology and sophisticated algorithms, the Visidot solution is capable of identifying and decoding hundreds of unique standard barcodes simultaneously in a single read, with unprecedented speed and accuracy. The Visidot solution is being used in retail supply chains, automotive manufacturing and reusable assets pool management operations to provide per-asset visibility and to increase operational efficiencies. ImageID is a multinational company with R&D facilities in Israel and direct sales and partner networks in the US and Europe.

(PRWEB) May 26, 2005 – This year marks the 60th anniversary of Peterson Manufacturing of Grandview, Missouri. The company plans to celebrate the milestone with special events and customer promotions scheduled for this summer and fall.
Over the past six decades, Peterson has grown from a small, automotive aftermarket supplier of such items as safety lighting and tire pumps, to a quarter-billion-dollar, multi-faceted corporation serving transportation-related industries around the world. Yet for all of its impressive growth, the family-owned company remains Grandview's "quiet giant,” virtually unknown by millions who see and use Peterson products every day of their lives.
"We're not exactly high profile," says president and CEO Don Armacost, Jr., son of the Kansas City businessman who acquired the company from Wilbur Peterson and staked its future on a commitment to quality. "My father often said he didn't want to be the biggest in the business, just the best. He always looked for ways to improve quality--better materials, better methods, better ideas. That philosophy has served us well, and we look forward to where it will take us in the years ahead."
Today the company headquarters in a state-of-the-art, 450,000-square-foot facility housing everything from manufacturing and assembly to management, sales, engineering, warehousing and more. Many of the company's superb, non-union workforce of more than 650 people are second- and third-generation Peterson associates.
An ever-growing line of over 2,200 Peterson safety lighting and accessory items serves automotive and heavy-duty truck markets worldwide. Known for innovation, Peterson enjoyed its first major breakthrough with the revolutionary VIBAR® socket. The company has also led in developing rustproof, stainless steel housings; virtually indestructible Lexan® lenses; unique solutions to seal bulbs against moisture and chemicals; LED optic and circuitry technology; plus other product and packaging innovations too numerous to list.
As an ISO 9001:2000 certified company, Peterson Manufacturing is the flagship of the Peterson Corporate Group, a family of 11 companies and over 3,000 associates working in global, transportation-related industries. With the focus on quality as their common theme, these highly specialized companies are important parts of the Peterson corporate success story:
• Anderson Marine -- Peterson's marine lighting division.
• Mission Plastics North -- plastic injection molding.
• Mission Plastics Arkansas -- plastic injection molding.
• Maxi-Seal -- electrical harness systems for trucks and trailers.
• Vector Tool & Engineering -- tooling for plastic injection molding.
• D&D Aviation -- air charter services.
• Kansas City Aviation Center -- aircraft sales, fuel.
• Renzenberger Inc. -- railroad crew transportation services.
• Motorsports Marketing -- retail motorsports collectibles.
• Transworld Products, Inc. -- global product sourcing.
As Peterson reflects on its 60 years of operation, Armacost says the company is not only proud of its success, but also enormously grateful for its dedicated people and loyal customers.
"A 60-year anniversary is a nice milestone," says Armacost. "But we remember who got us here, and that's what we'll be celebrating most in 2005."

Cheap Sofa Gives You the Ability to Instantly Change a Room’s Look for Summer - without Slipcovers
Make your home decorating sizzle this summer with fashionable, quick change sofa fabric sets on quality ready-to-assemble (RTA) upholstered furniture
(PRWEB) May 25, 2005 -- If you’d like to brighten your home with a sexy, new summer look but feel stifled by your living room furniture, you’re not alone. No one will blame you if you’d rather avoid the home decorating hassle of repainting, resorting to ill-fitting slipcovers, or spending too much on furnishings that limit your ability to redecorate at will. Fortunately, a new category of quality, upholstered furniture now gives you the ability to change your sofa in an instant and room’s look for summer, without breaking a sweat or your budget.
With 60 fabric selections, ready-to-assemble (RTA) upholstered furniture puts the style flexibility of a designer showroom at your fingertips, letting you change custom fabric sets on a whim. Simply unzip the original made-to-fit fabric set from the sofa frame, arms, back and seat cushions, and replace it with a new fabric set selection from a wealth of designer options.
Amazingly, the cost of this custom fabric makeover is typically less than that of slipcovers, while the RTA furniture itself sells for 50% less than retail, because it is sold direct to customers via the Internet—the sofa is only $299.
Summer Home Decorating Made Easy
Lisa Zocco, a southern Calif.-resident with RTA upholstered furniture, enjoys selecting custom couch fabric sets when aiming for a relaxed summer feel at home. “Why not give your room a beach cottage look by outfitting your couch with Ranger Twill White, or bring summer inside with Ranger Twill Maize?” asks Zocco. “Just slip off one custom fabric set and slip on a new one; it’s a lot easier and more fun than repainting.”
Since RTA upholstered furniture offers complete fabric sets including made-to-fit zipped covers for the frame and arms, those daring enough might even try mixing sets.
“For a more casual summer space, try pairing True Blue Denim with a sunny floral print like Beauval Sunblu. With the RTA furniture, changing your sofa and room’s look is as easy as slipping into comfortable summer clothes,” explains Zocco. “It economically satisfies your urge for comfort and creativity, without throwing out your living room set and starting over.”
Close up on Quality
The company’s website www.homereserve.com allows shoppers to see what the furniture looks like in a particular fabric by simply clicking on it, with “zoom ins” for a close-up view of weave and texture. Fabric selections include wool, cotton, acrylic, and the current industry “hottie,” microfibre, noted for its suede-like texture and excellent wear-ability, clean-ability, and anti-staining properties.
“It was hard to choose from so many beautiful, durable fabrics, but my selection did not disappoint,” says Dana Christine, author and Home & Garden Television personality, about her Home Reserve furniture.
“Unlike sloppy slipcovers, the fabrics are beautiful and fit precisely,” adds Brooke Manbeck, an account executive for UPS in Media, Penn. who recently bought a red microfibre sofa and neutral microfibre chair. “You just cannot tell they’re removable. My family and friends are amazed that I ordered them online. They’re the same or better quality than Lazy Boy.”

Microstaq Mastering Electronic Controls for Fluid-Control Industry
Microstaq’s revolutionary MEMS valve technology holds great promise for the miniaturization of flow control systems across a number of automotive, biomedical, refrigeration, aeronautical and other flow control opportunities. The company’s silicon chip-based flow control technology leverages proven silicon wafer processing techniques to create a single-structure, ‘solid state’ valve capable of controlling a range of fluids in today’s high-pressure, high-flow rate control environments.
Bellingham, WA (PRWEB) May 25, 2005 –- Engineers at Microstaq are betting that the tiny, silicon chip they created to miniaturize and manage the refrigerant in a car’s air-conditioner holds promise for much broader applications in autos of the future. The micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology used in the patented microvalve also shows promise for biotechnology, drug research and development, satellite control and for medical uses.
“This could be the transistor of the fluid-control industry,” says company cofounder and president Steve Booth, referring to the electronics revolution that followed the invention of the transistor.
Microstaq has been successfully testing its micro-sized electro-mechanical valves for fluid control on automotive air conditioners for the past three years at its labs in Bellingham and anticipates production to get underway within two years. Knowing that a typical automobile has 50 valves that need to be opened and closed automatically and regulated closely, and having a number of top technical experts on staff, the company is favorably positioned to develop the micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technology for use in auto transmissions, braking systems and other automobile fluidic systems.
Microstaq’s microvalve technology could also be used for active cooling of complex, heat generating electronic systems such as modern microprocessors, he said. “Its portability, low cost, accuracy and small fluid volume requirements also make it ideal for analysis and mixing of pharmaceuticals,” he said.
Microstaq’s microvalve uses MEMS technology and due to its silicon material content its moving parts will not wear out. A tiny silicon wafer the size of a button controls the flow of liquids, mists and gases at high pressures, replacing a traditional valve in the air conditioning system that is larger than a spark plug. Its lighter weight and smaller size is expected to increase fuel economy and reduce power consumption in every car, truck and SUV that uses it.
Booth and Microstaq cofounder Jeff Chance believe that Microstaq’s tiny electronic chip has the potential to revolutionize automotive flow control designs and reduce auto emissions.
“Even a half-mile-per-gallon increase in fuel efficiency translates into saving hundreds of thousands of metric tons of auto emissions every year,” said Booth, also president of the company.
Microstaq’s proprietary, pressure-balanced valve design uses advanced silicon wafer processing technologies to fabricate a high-pressure, high flow capable microvalve as compared to membrane or orifice-type microvalve designs. The Microstaq valve is designed to operate in the harsh temperature and pressure environments typical to many automotive flow control systems.
“There is great potential for this microvalve to be on every car in the world,” said Chance, executive vice president and COO. “Down the road, this technology could be used for other systems such as for biotechnology, medical uses, drug research and development, satellite control, gas flow, even bicycle suspensions.”
Microstaq’s valve technology holds such great promise that the company received a $2 million federal grant in 2001 from the National Institute of Standards Technology’s Advanced Technology Program to develop its unique microvalve for a car’s air conditioner.
About Microstaq:
Microstaq (www.microstaq.com) is a privately held company founded in 2000 to bring MEMS technology to the flow control world of automotive systems. Microstaq designs, develops and manufactures high-performance MEMS silicon valve systems capable of operating in normal to extreme flow control environments. Cofounders Steve Booth and Jeff Chance were business development and sales managers in the automotive air-conditioning and engine cooling industry before founding the company to address flow control opportunities in the air-conditioning and refrigeration industries. Formerly known as Alumina Micro, the company moved to Bellingham in 2002.
Microstaq recognizes the benefits of business partnerships to efficiently market its valve technology and seeks partnerships that will successfully market its flow control technology into promising business sectors.

Esthetic Accents Takes Its Show on the Road - Mass-Customized Architectural Stained Glass Makes Big Impact at National Events
New company makes big impression at two Las Vegas trade shows - Esthetic Accents, a Portland, Oregon-based manufacturer and seller of architectural stained glass, shattered the industry the industry’s status quo last week at the Hospitality Design 2005 Expo and the 2005 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, both held this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Portland, OR (PRWEB) May 25, 2005 -- Esthetic Accents, a Portland, Oregon-based manufacturer and seller of architectural stained glass, shattered the industry the industry’s status quo last week at the Hospitality Design 2005 Expo and the 2005 Kitchen/Bath Industry Show, both held this year in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Making a strong impression on the attendees at the trade shows as well as the industry media present there, the new company was one of four singled out for special coverage by Las Vegas television station Fox 5 for an in-studio visit. The segment featured new products that add color to home improvement projects without requiring extensive renovations. The products were selected from more than 1000 vendors with booths at KB2005.
Visitors to the Esthetic Accents booth were impressed by the versatility and durability the company’s custom stained glass products and were surprised by the line’s affordability. The Portland-based firm has created and designed an extremely durable form of stained glass that can safely be used in windows, doors, sidelights, shower and hot tub enclosures, cabinetry, gates, balcony and stair railings; it be incorporated into walls, partitions and casework. Because each piece is a custom design, themes can be continued throughout entire rooms and structures, matching doors and cabinets, sidelights and windows, or garage doors with front gates.
EAofferings allow much more design freedom than is possible with either artisan stained glass or mass produced design elements. Most often, artisan stained glass creates designs using stock bevels and bevel clusters that require that the design be developed around the bevels. However, Esthetic Accents is able to create custom bevels, both clear and colored, eliminating any limits on the design process.
Visitors to the EA booths represented some of the leaders in the commercial, design, hospitality, and home building industries. Among those particularly impressed by the products on display at the EA booths were representatives for Applebees, The Marriot Group, and Architectural Digest. “Wow! We’ve been looking for something like this for more than two years,” said one of the specifiers for a leading national restaurant chain. “We want to match motif for over 100 restaurants and this product makes it possible.”
According to Mary Spear, co-founder and CEO of Esthetic Accents, “We have traveled the world seeking and developing the manufacturing process that allows our unique approach to the marketplace. The technology is now available to take custom architectural stained glass solutions to a new level – and at extremely affordable prices. No one else is doing what we’re doing”
About Esthetic Accents
Esthetic Accents design professionals combine personalized service and the convenience of the Internet to provide excellent customer service nation-wide. Their online showroom and design center, toll free number and knowledgeable design staff make navigating through the design process straightforward and enjoyable. Esthetic Accents leverages the power of the Internet by utilizing PRWeb’s Online Visibility Engine(TM), making it easier for interested parties to learn about EA's breakthrough custom architectural stained glass technology and innovative product line as their innovations are released.
