Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 26, 2008 -- Williams Kherkher, a Houston-based personal injury law firm, has launched a free web-based resource center at http://williamskherkher.com/memc_plant_gas_leak.aspx, providing important information and legal advice to those affected by the MEMC manufacturing plant gas leak.

On the afternoon of Thursday, April 25, 2008, a gas leak at MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc.'s manufacturing plant in Pasadena, TX, resulted in the hospitalization of 15 employees. Silicon tetrafluoride (STF) gas was released through a leak in a hose from a transport vehicle connected to the MEMC facility.

MEMC officials said that the leak was quickly contained and would not affect the surrounding area. 15 employees, however, are still hospitalized while undergoing further evaluation and treatment. According to officials, the Pasadena plant will be shut down temporarily while the cause of the leak is investigated.

MEMC uses STF in the manufacturing process of silicon wafers. STF, a colorless, pungent-smelling gas, is highly corrosive and may cause burns, frostbite, or death if exposed to or inhaled. Further information about silicon tetrafluoride is provided by Williams Kherkher.
