BMJ Mold and Engineering Announces Premium Extended Warranty

BMJ Mold and Engineering, a 37 Year old Kokomo, IN, plastic injection molding company, announces new plan to insure against mold repair costs in the future.

Kokomo, IN (PRWEB) May 25, 2021 -- BMJ Mold and Engineering has announced a new way to control costs associated with plastic injection molding. The company, through innovative engineering, has pioneered a method of providing plastic molders an extended warranty program that guarantees no additional mold costs while using a BMJ mold. Company founder and CEO, Mike Eikenberry adds, “Mold repair has always plagued companies because it is a variable cost. We have essentially made that a fixed cost under the BMJ program.”

BMJ will offer the extended warranty program on any mold it designs and builds, and in some cases, on molds it rebuilds. “There are several plans available.” says Eikenberry. “Some allow for scheduled preventive maintenance and/or repair as needed. Alternatives are to simply send the customer the required details and instructions for proper mold maintenance and diagrams for in-house repair.”

This dramatic step can be taken by the 37-year-old Kokomo, Indiana, company because as Eikenberry points out, “All molds built by BMJ are designed to be easily repaired and maintained. It is all in the construction. High wear and/or weak steel areas are inserted with easy to remove and replace high quality steel inserts. Each inserted area has a specified location and identification indicated on location maps provided with the mold. Each insert is constructed in such a way as to make it impossible to install in the wrong place or incorrect orientation. Even ejector pins are identified in the same manner resulting in simplified replacement.”

BMJ’s Premium Extended Warranty plan also allows for work to be sub-let to a local tool shop previously approved by the customer and BMJ, or molds can be shipped to BMJ for warranty service. “It’s simple,” says Eikenberry, “whatever works best for the customer.” The Premium Extended Warranty Program at BJM Mold and Engineering is effective immediately.

Wilbert Plastic Services Improves Performance and Lowers Cost of Structural Applications Using Gas Assist Injection Molding

Gas-assist injection molding (GAIM), a process that uses an inert gas to create one or more hollow channels within an injection-molded plastic part, has been around for well over two decades. Likewise, IXEF® polyarylamide compounds produced by Solvay Advanced Polymers, L.L.C. have long been considered a reliable choice for applications requiring high strength and stiffness.

Broadview, IL (PRWEB) May 19, 2021 -- The new combination of product and process delivers metal-like performance with durable high gloss surface finish.

Gas-assist injection molding (GAIM), a process that uses an inert gas to create one or more hollow channels within an injection-molded plastic part, has been around for well over two decades. Used extensively to make products such as appliance handles and furniture seat backs and frames, GAIM enables manufacturers to cost-effectively make large structural parts that cannot be produced by the standard injection molding process.

Likewise, IXEF® polyarylamide compounds produced by Solvay Advanced Polymers, L.L.C. have long been considered a reliable choice for applications requiring high strength and stiffness. Because this material provides an excellent surface finish, even at high glass loadings, it is particularly appealing for structural-type applications where cosmetics are important.

Until recently, however, the process and the product had never teamed up—that is until Wilbert Plastic Services of Broadview, Ill., a market leader in plastic injection molding for both the major appliance and office furniture industries, decided to bring them together.

“The coupling of the GAIM process with IXEF compounds has been very successful,” said Wayne Moore, engineering manager of Wilbert Plastic Services. “When you have a hollow piece with a large cross section, you need a material with a lot of strength and stiffness, and good dimensional stability. IXEF compounds have that. Plus they offer the added advantage of a durable high gloss surface finish.”

“We’re very excited by this new opportunity for IXEF compounds,” said Chris Scarazzo, market development manager for Solvay Advanced Polymers. “By using gas assist injection molding, it is now possible to achieve metal-like part performance at a fraction of the cost.”

For structural applications with high load-carrying requirements, traditional materials include die cast aluminum, long and short glass-filled nylons, and bulk molding compounds. According to Scarazzo, each of these materials have shortcomings: high cost due to secondary operations for die cast aluminum, poor aesthetics and severe mechanical property loss due to moisture absorption for glass-filled nylons, and high scrap rates for bulk molding compounds.

According to Scarazzo, potential applications for the GAIM-IXEF resin duo include office furniture applications, such as seat backs, seat frames, arm rests, and chair bases, as well as handles, hinges, and knobs for major appliances, such as refrigerators and dishwashers.

Plastic Bins Stack Up Workplace Efficiency, Save Money

Stor-Quip Systems, Inc., a leading plastic bins and storage systems distributor, demonstrates that plastic bins and reusable containers improve workplace efficiency and ultimately save money.

(PRWEB) May 18, 2021 -- Stor-Quip Systems, Inc., a leading plastic bins and storage systems distributor, demonstrates that plastic bins and reusable containers improve workplace efficiency and ultimately save money. Plastic bins are coming to the forefront as workable and affordable solutions to storage needs and organization.

Stor-Quip Systems believes businesses are finding that plastic bins serve many organizational needs and at the same time save money that would otherwise be spent on cardboard containers. Plastic bins are stackable, easily organized, and designed so that parts are easily identified and obtainable. As such, plastic bins improve inventory control and also by design are sturdier than cardboard containers.

“The Lewis Bins+ plastic bins protect my product better than other brands I have tried,” said Mark Worth, President of Marko Systems, Inc., and a customer of Stor-Quip. “Since the sides are rigid and don’t bow outward, I can now take a bin off my shelf without worrying about accidentally pulling the one next to it off the shelf as well.”

Reusable containers are becoming viable transportation options for warehouses and distributors. These containers save money because they can transport product and be repeatedly used. They nest with other containers when empty and are stackable when in use.

Plastic bins and reusable containers from Stor-Quip can provide:
• Better organization of products
• Improved workflow
• Money saved that would otherwise be spent on cardboard

Find more information on plastic bins and reusable containers by visiting www.StorQuip.com or calling 1-888-392-STOR or 1-888-392-7867.

ExtrusioVinyl & Plastics Co. Inc. & its Division, Direct Window Fashions / Decoration Direct -- Exclusive Wood Grain Technology Patent Granted

ExtrusioVinyl & Plastics Co. Inc. (EVP) receives its patent for its wood grain simulation technology for horizontal blinds

LAVAL, Quebec, Canada (PRWEB) February 3, 2022 -- ExtrusioVinyl & Plastics Co. Inc. (EVP) is pleased to announce that its Canadian patent application with respect to veining simulation in extruded resin products has been granted by the Canadian Patent Office. This technology permits a realistic simulation of wood grain coloration nuances in the company’s extrusions, thus rendering a more natural appearance to the product, while retaining the in-use performance superiorities of extruded products over natural wood. This technology is currently being employed in EVP’s extrusions for horizontal window coverings slats, and marketed by its Direct Window Fashions / Decoration Direct division. Please, visit our website at www.decorationdirecte.com

According to EVP Vice-President, Carmine Franco, “This patent is very important not only to EVP but also to the Canadian plastics industry as a whole. Since releasing this new product to the market, inexpensive copies of our technology have rapidly entered the market, distributed by other companies active in the window covering business. These imports are a flagrant violation of EVP’s intellectual property rights and the granting of this patent establishes the legal grounds to protect our domestic manufacturing against the incursions of imports from counties not having to adhere to the same labour standards which we in Canada have come to expect. With this patent now granted, EVP intends to exercise to the fullest extent available its options available to protect the intellectual property developed by its Canadian personnel. The future of Canadian industry depends on its continuing development of industrial technology and patent protection and enforcement are essential weapons in the fight against predatory pricing by importers based on cheap labour economies.”

EVP is a fully-integrated manufacturer of window covering products sold both to fabricators and direct to retailers through its Direct Window Fashions / Decoration Direct division. EVP also extrudes PVC and polystyrene profiles for the building trade and medical tubing through its Med+Plast subsidiary and, as well, provides a custom extrusion service for a variety of companies.

"The statements which are not historical facts contained in this press release are forward-looking statements that involve certain risks and uncertainties including but not limited to risks associated with the uncertainty of future financial results, additional financing requirements, development of new products, government approval processes, the impact of competitive products or pricing, technological changes, the effect of economic conditions and other uncertainties."

Meyer Plastics Dedicates Brown Thermoforming Machine to 40 Year Employee Lorris Brown

In a celebration at their Indianapolis facility, Meyer Plastics Inc. President Ralph R. Meyer recognized the 40 years of service by Plant Manager Lorris Brown. Employees, vendors and family alike gathered as Brown was presented a congratulatory plaque and "thermoforming machine" cake, as well as a "naming dedication" for a newly-installed rotary thermoforming machine from Brown Machine LLC

(PRWEB) January 30, 2022 -- In a celebration on January 5th in their Indianapolis facility, Meyer Plastics Inc. President Ralph R. Meyer recognized the 40 years of service by Plant Manager Lorris Brown. Employees, vendors and family alike gathered as Brown was presented a congratulatory plaque and “thermoforming machine” cake, as well as a “naming dedication” for a newly-installed rotary thermoforming machine from Brown Machine LLC

“Lorris has been instrumental to the success of our company’s growth and profitability,” stated Meyer. “His knowledge of the thermoforming process and how a contract thermoforming business is successfully operated is unmatched today.”

The new machine is now named “The L. Brown Thermoformer”—and for good reason, says Meyer. “He really felt strongly about replacing the older machine with the new technology, because it took a lot of tweaking that only his years of experience could make productive—and that worried him about our future thermoforming capacity/operation (especially in what happens after his retirement),” said Meyer. “Now, the new machine can be set-up and operated by personnel with much less experience…and gray in their hair!”

Meyer Plastics recently purchased a second rotary thermoforming machine from Brown Machine to replace a 30 year old machine, helping the company to greatly increase production rates, reduce set-up times, and provide better quality work for our contract customers, according to Meyer. The Brown R-223E-46 Rotary Thermoformer can process 4’x6’ sheet sizes, offers PLC digital control/touch screen (greatly improved analog/timer performance compared to older machine being replaced), quick-adjusting sheet clamp systems for faster set-up, infrared ovens with solid-state zone control and many other performance and safety features. (Meyer has operated a larger rotary Brown thermoformer since 1995, as well.)

On Meyer Plastics
Since 1950, Meyer Plastics has been dedicated to serving the plastics industry with material supplier (plastic sheet/rod/tube, mold making materials, adhesives/tapes/sealants, and other supplies) and contract design/fabrication/ thermoforming services.
