Avian Flu Spikes Concern Over Online Sales of Medications
Recent concerns over avian influenza have led to an increase in prescription medication sales on the Internet. Consumers making these purchases are often subject to fraudulent practices by online pharmacies. Resources for safely purchasing medications such as Tamiflu for avian influenza are available and should be relied upon for any online prescription drug purchase.
(PRWEB) November 29, 2005 -- For the past several months, avian influenza has dominated health headlines across the globe. A number of countries are reporting cases of avian influenza, commonly referred to as “bird flu”, in their domestic and wild bird populations. In addition, there are confirmed cases of bird-to-human transmissions of avian influenza in the South East Asia region, many of which have resulted in death. Concerns over bird flu have caused a spike in online prescriptions from foreign pharmacies for medications such as Tamiflu. This boom is reinforced with each new report of an avian flu outbreak and resources to get these prescription medications from online foreign pharmacies are popping up across the Internet.
Reports have shown that many of these online foreign pharmacies are not quite what they seem. Consumers are being taken each day by websites promising genuine medications and not delivering. To combat this type of fraud in the face of increased demand, resources are now available on the Internet that can present multiple options for consumers seeking discount medications from foreign pharmacies. One of these resources is FreeBeeForeignPharmacy.com -- http://www.freebeeforeignpharmacy.com.
FreeBeeForeignPharmacy.com has been online for over 3 years and has provided thousands of consumers with real options for purchasing their medications over the Internet. The site provides its members with a search that returns specific results for their necessary drugs from multiple online pharmacies. The choices are complete with prices, quantities, and user reviews of each pharmacy. The last point is the most important. This user review system provides more confidence to consumers wary of ordering from a particular online pharmacy. With the rising concern over avian influenza, this type of confidence is essential.
Avian influenza medications such as Tamiflu are available from multiple pharmacies on FreeBeeForeignPharmacy.com. Consumers can compare prices for these medications and many others for a low monthly subscription fee. They also offer a 100% guarantee that you will find your medications through their database. The security and confidence that this site provides is a standard that consumers can now utilize when purchasing medications. If you are concerned with avian flu, settle for no less than this standard if you are purchasing your medications online.

Web Site Offers Free Access to Board-Certified Physicians
One group of physicians gives every American access to a specialist by providing medical information and answers to questions, free of charge.
(PRWEB via PR Web Direct) November 29, 2005 -- For millions of Americans who do not have health insurance, seeing a doctor is not an option.
However one unique Web site allows visitors to ask its board-certified physicians questions – absolutely free. Since 1999 OurHealthNetwork.com (http://www.OurHealthNetwork.com) has provided the public with accurate and up-to-date information about a variety of medical conditions. This information includes causes, symptoms, and self-help treatments that are written in terms that the general public can understand.
OurHealthNetwork.com is a “network” of specialty-trained physicans who have joined together to create Web sites that furnish information about each of their specialties. Each Web site covers a specialist’s field, and all of the information on the site is written and maintained by that physician.
“What makes these sites unique is the fact that the doctors will answer questions that are submitted to them through their Web sites, free of charge,” said Dr. Lowell Weil, Jr., a medical director of OurHealthNetwork.com. “Of course the doctors cannot make diagnoses, but they can clarify an individual’s medical problem, answering that person’s specific questions. Our goal is to offer people in pain accurate medical information and peace of mind.” OurHealthNetwork.com’s doctors have personally responded to tens of thousands of questions every year since 1999.
Another unique feature of OurHealthNetwork.com is the fact that it does not allow advertising on any of its sites. This permits its physicians to provide truly unbiased information. “We do not need to tailor our information to please ‘Corporate America,’” Dr. Weil, Jr. added. “Having no ads or pop-up windows helps to keep our Web sites from being cluttered, and allows for easy and hassle-free navigation.”
OurHealthNetwork.com finances its efforts by allowing visitors to purchase the exact same products its doctors recommend and use in their private practices. Visitors benefit from purchasing these products through the physician’s Web site because they get the correct medical-grade products that they need at discounted prices.
But Dr. Paul R. Kasdan, the network’s founder, emphasized that visitors do not need to purchase anything in order to use OurHealthNetwork.com’s informational services or to have their questions answered. “Purchasing products is just another convenience we offer the public.”
Millions of visitors from every U.S. state and more than 30 different countries around the world now turn to OurHealthNetwork.com every year. The specialty Web sites that are currently available include arthritis; the back; hand, wrist, and elbow; the knee; and the foot and ankle (http://www.OurFootDoctor.com). According to Dr. Kasdan, “New specialty sites are added when we find a specialist who is dedicated to practicing medicine ‘the old fashion way’ -- helping individuals in need and not worrying about a fee for their service.”

OA now promotes MicroMD to all members of its group purchasing organization.
“MicroMD is a proven, full-function practice management system that we confidently recommend to our members,” said Brent A. Evans, executive vice president and general manager, Oncology Associates. “Microsys has earned a solid reputation for IT innovation and excellent customer service among the 1,800 physician group practices that have achieved improved efficiency and effectiveness with MicroMD.”
“Oncology Associates is noted for careful selection of its business partners,” said Ajit Kumar, Ph.D., president, Microsys Computing, Inc. “In partnership with OA and its clinical and sales professionals, we now have the opportunity to market MicroMD to the 800 private practice physicians in their group purchasing organization. The initial response to MicroMD at the recent meeting of their members in October was very encouraging.”
Blood & Cancer Center, Canfield, Ohio, is a hematology and oncology group practice, an OA purchasing group member, and a MicroMD customer. Their case study was presented at the purchasing group meeting.
“Even with the substantial pricing benefits of OA’s group purchasing, chemotherapy drugs and other pharmaceuticals we use in our practice are very expensive, so managing accounts receivable is essential. After replacing our old practice management system with MicroMD in 2003, we reduced our accounts receivable by a full 20 percent, achieving savings that more than paid for the system,” said Rita Lopez, R.N., practice administrator, Blood & Cancer Center. “In addition, MicroMD has enabled us to improve productivity to that extent that we successfully managed 35 percent growth in patient volume without adding any new administrative staff.”

Stop Snoring This Christmas and Save a Life
Anti snoring devices from SleepGenie.com make for practical and healthy gifts this holiday season.
Richmond, IN (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) November 28, 2005 -- While you are out and about shopping for gifts for loved ones this Christmas, you might find a gift idea or two that means more to them than the latest gadget or cool sweater.
Consider what it would mean to stop snoring or stop the snoring of a family member in its tracks. Here are some things this particular Christmas gift will do for the receiver according to medical professionals:
Lower cholesterol
Increased energy during the day
Weight loss
Lowered risk of heart disease
Lowered risk of obesity
There are other benefits to this special gift of sleep. Like a better sex life.
Alan Schill, of SleepGenie.com describes this particular perk as "the ultimate side-benefit of curing snoring for anyone whose sex life has seen a dramatic decrease since snoring became a problem for them."
Studies are showing far more serious health effects of snoring than was previously believed. In fact, many people still think snoring is just something inconvenient you have to put up with for snorers and their families.
Doctors and Sleep Specialists are finding that snoring can be downright dangerous, especially over the long term. Heavy snoring can cause a net loss in total hours of sleep over time that greatly affects a person's ability to function on the job, burn fat, exercise, and stay heart healthy, according to physicians.
The good news is that specialists and inventors have been working on the snoring problem for a long time and have prepared for the day when everyone else woke up to the fact that snoring isn't just a “nuisance.”
Snoring treatments available today range from throat sprays to anti snoring devices like chin straps to surgery.
"The most common and most effective anti snoring device is the chin strap model," says Schill. "This is because it is inexpensive and people see results the very first night they use it."
Compared to expensive sleep studies and surgery, people suffering from snoring or living with a snoring partner generally look for the cheapest effective ways to deal with the problem first.
Although a chin strap device isn't the same as a sexy, sleek new Ipod when they open the box this Christmas, saving a life and allowing someone you love (or yourself) the ability to function in the world as well-rested as they have ever been is pretty incredible.
Some explanation of the anti snoring device will be in order when that gift is opened, but once the recipient understands they have just been given a new lease on life, they will certainly be able to fully appreciate that Ipod a lot more!
"Many of our customers are spouses and loved ones of snorers who are also plagued by a constant lack of sleep simply by association. They want to find a snoring cure for their partner to save their own health as much as anything," Schill says.
So when the Christmas turkey kicks in and it's time to take a nap, it's good to know that there are anti snoring remedies available that will determine whether that nap is a restful one or not.

Minco Launches Online 'Heater Configurator' Pricing & Ordering Tool -- Helps Customers Quickly Find The Right Heater
Minco launches online Heater Configurator engineering tool to allow customers to more conveniently and quickly locate, price and order heaters from their desktop.
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) November 28, 2005, 2005 -- Minco, (www.minco.com) a designer and manufacturer of critical components for critical applications, today launched its online “Heater Configurator” engineering tool, designed to help customers specify, evaluate and select and order Minco Thermofoil™ and wire-wound flexible heaters online.
The Minco Heater Configurator is located on the Minco website and functions like a search engine, allowing customers to configure, price, and order Minco catalog model Thermofoil™ and wire-wound heaters by entering a heater model number or searching for heater models by dimensional value and insulation type. The Heater Configurator offers customers a more convenient and time saving method of purchasing heaters online.
“This tool will help our customers quickly find the best possible catalog heater option for prototyping and evaluation purposes”, said Brian Williams, Minco Marketing Manager. “It will also provide information about the heater, and ensure the customer knows the appropriate operating parameters of these products”.
The Minco Heater Configurator accepts the input of dimensional values, or a ThermofoilTM heater part number, and generates catalog flexible heater options in polyimide (KaptonTM), silicone rubber, Thermal-Clear™ (optically clear), integrated heater/sensor, and mica substrate. Once a specific model is selected the customer can enter supply voltage and operating temperature requirements, and choose between different resistance values and backing/adhesive options.
The tool automatically checks to make sure the heater, and all selected options like resistance, backing, lead-wire, will work properly at the given voltage and operating temperature. Data boxes will appear in red to indicate when the heater is not suited to perform as configured for the application values given.
Once the appropriate data boxes are filled, the Minco Heater Configurator automatically generates a part number and allows the customer to purchase the heater, or group of heaters, easily online.
“Minco understands that customers desire on-demand information available to them via the Internet,” said Williams. “The Minco Heater Configurator allows customers to find out which heater they require, price it out and order online -- all within minutes.”

Finally, a Comprehensive Guide on the Healing Power of Enzymes Is Available - Published by Rodale
It's what many have been waiting for - a comprehensive guide on enzymes that the layman can understand. Read about the next frontier in medicine and self-care: MicroMiracles Discover the Healing Power of Enzymes by Dr. Ellen Cutler.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 28, 2005 -- As a young child, Ellen Cutler suffered from digestive problems that were so severe, she dreaded eating for fear of the bloating, constipation, and cramping that followed. When she got older, her symptoms got worse, aggravated by her stressful schedule as a chiropractic student. She tried a wide range of supplements, colonics, therapies, and fasting, to no avail. Doctors invariably recommended a regimen of drugs that would treat the symptoms of inflammatory bowel syndrome or ulcerative colitis but would never get to the root of her problem. Despite the deterioration in her health, her medical education thrived. It was during an intensive three-year postgraduate program that one of her instructors recommended she read about enzymes and take a plant digestive enzyme for own condition. Two weeks after she started supplementation, Ellen Cutler was symptom-free—permanently.
24 years later, Dr. Cutler is the preeminent authority in the field of enzyme therapy. In MICROMIRACLES: Discover the Healing Powers of Enzymes ($15.95, paperback original, October) she explains how and why enzymes are essential to good health, shows readers how to identify and evaluate enzyme deficiencies, and helps them create their own enzyme regimens. Based on extensive research and more than two decades of life-changing work with patients suffering from a wide range of ailments, this is the first book to fully explore the unlimited potential of enzyme therapy.
Dr. Cutler writes in her Introduction, “…enzymes are the medicine of the future. They are revolutionary and holistic. They are essential to true healing in its most basic sense: the restoration of optimal health and balance, or homeostasis.” In MICROMIRACLES, she describes how enzymes are necessary for our bodies to carry out the most basic metabolic functions, and how healthy immune function is also dependent on enzymes. She explains how enzymes not only prevent disease but also heal chronic health problems and boost overall energy, stamina, and vitality.
Following an explanation of the three different categories of enzymes—systemic or metabolic, digestive, and food—Dr. Cutler provides a self-test to help readers determine whether an enzyme deficiency is behind particular health issues they are experiencing. Specific, detailed information gathered from this evaluation enables readers to develop a personalized enzyme program that targets their unique needs and helps them achieve optimal health in a wide range of categories, from lowering the risk of such potentially life-threatening conditions such as diabetes, cancer, and heart disease to enhancing elements essential to well-being such as energy level and emotional balance. Category by category, Dr. Cutler prescribes lifestyle changes, dietary guidelines, and enzyme supplements to renew and sustain good health—for life.
Throughout MICROMIRACLES, inspiring case studies provide real-life examples of Dr. Cutler’s patients whose lives have been changed forever by the implementation of enzyme therapy, demonstrating how enzymes are, truly, nature’s “micromiracles.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Ellen Cutler, D.C., M.D. is the founder of BioSet, an innovative healing system that combines enzyme therapy with other complementary medicine disciplines. The author of such groundbreaking books as Winning the War against Asthma and Allergies and The Food Allergy Cure, Dr. Cutler presents workshops and seminars on enzyme therapy to health care professionals around the world. Known fondly as the Empress of Enzymes among her colleagues, students, friends, and family, she lives in Marin County, California.

Aging Boomers Contribute to the Enormous Growth of the Home Healthcare Products Industry
With a large, rapidly aging segment of the US population, home healthcare is becoming an alternative to nursing homes’ rise in cost.
(PRWEB) November 23, 2005 -- With a large, rapidly aging segment of the US population, home healthcare is becoming an alternative to nursing homes’ rise in cost. New resources, many of which are available online, allow seasoned as well as novice caregivers the supplies for elder home healthcare, not previously at their disposal.
Between 1993 and 1999, most states experienced a drop in nursing home population. But with the abundance of nursing home reform in the late 90’s, this became a preferred option. While only 12% of nursing home residents are between the ages of 65 and 74, 45% are over 85 years of age. It was once estimated that anyone over 65 years of age would have a 43% chance of spending at least some time in a nursing home. This statistic is shifting however.
In the past few years, not only have many home medical supplies become readily available at the consumer level, but prices have become quite competitive as well. Everything from compression garments to portable blood pressure monitors to ostomy supplies can be purchased discreetly, inexpensively and conveniently online.
One of the premier websites pioneering a full line of medical supplies for the home is Metro Medical (http://www.metromedicalonline.com). Metro Medical Pharmacy, Inc. was founded in 1984 with the purpose of providing quality medical products to customers with special medical needs. Now Metro Medical offers their full line of products online, and their market position enables them to pass discounts on to their customers.
With the costs of “long distance” elder care continuing to rise, home healthcare is an option that allows families to not only remain close together, but present a cost efficient option as well.

Corporate Business Coach – Expert Reveals Abuses Behind One of America’s Fastest-Growing Professions
A corporate business coach reveals the truth behind one of America’s hottest – and most abused – new professions. “The good news is: Exceptional business coaching helps turn dysfunctional companies around,” says John Wyche. “The bad news is: Poor coaching costs companies time and money – and problems just get worse.”
FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (PRWEB) November 21, 2005 –- Executives who want to hire a business coach but are afraid they’ll get taken for a ride by a do-nothing “expert” probably have realistic fears, says John Wyche.
“Some of my colleagues will be unhappy to hear it said aloud, but there is abuse within the business coaching industry,” says Wyche, who holds degrees in economics and business from Yale and Stanford. “Those of us who are making legitimate contributions to the field know this better than anyone.”
Wyche says there are no legal requirements for becoming a business coach. “This is nothing like being a certified public accountant or a medical doctor where you need a license to practice,” he says. “The fact is, there are more regulations for barbers and beauticians than for business coaches. Anyone can wake up in the morning and start calling himself a professional business coach.”
According to Wyche, the number of coaches is climbing fast. He cites statistics from the International Coach Federation, one of a number of certification and training organizations, that show a more than 400% increase since 1995.
“Ten years ago, 1,500 people belonged to the organization. Today, there are more than 8,000 members, and industry estimates show there are 20,000 to 40,000 coaches worldwide. Most of that growth has occurred over the last few years,” Wyche says.
Wyche cites six common abuses committed by incompetent business coaches and the protections business leaders can use when hiring a coach.
1.ABUSE: The business coach brandishes a coach certification as prima facie evidence of his coaching competence.
PROTECTION: Look for solid experience and credentials and ask for references. Certification says nothing in and of itself. Some certifications are highly regarded within the coaching industry, but some require little more than a credit card to earn.
2. ABUSE: The coach spouts platitudes and simple solutions to complex problems. (“There is only one way to deal with a difficult manager.“)
PROTECTION: Trust your common sense and ask questions about the coach’s coaching model, process and methodology. Overnight turnarounds happen only in the movies. It takes genuine insight and demonstrated experience to solve problems that have compounded over time.
3. ABUSE: The coach boasts a high level of experience in all business areas.
PROTECTION: Remember that no one is good at everything. No coach can be a top expert in human resources, marketing, public relations, finance and web technology. If needed, a competent coach knows to call in other experts to help guide progress.
4. ABUSE: The coach does not have a strong business background but claims to be well-versed in the latest theories of corporate change management.
PROTECTION: Seek a coach who offers more than theory. Strong coaches have significant hands-on experience through the leadership and consulting roles they have played in various organizations.
5. ABUSE: The coach is not interested in assuming any responsibility for the outcome of his work.
PROTECTION: The strongest coaches are willing to tie at least some of their success to measurable business results. Look for a coach who is willing to provide measurable outcomes – in writing.
6. ABUSE: The coach insists his wealth of practical experience compensates for a lack of formal education.
PROTECTION: Just as you would with any employee, check the coach’s educational background. A formal education is no guarantee of superior coaching ability but the strongest coaches often have advanced degrees in relevant areas such as business, psychology and organizational behavior.

The Ultimate Walking Cane From MSGlobal -- Built-in Light, Alarm, Safety Flasher, and Even a Compass
We all want those closest to us to be safe and secure. For users of canes or hiking sticks, Maurie Sandler has an ideal solution; a new medical product called the Multipurpose Spotlight Cane.
(PRWEB) November 21, 2005 -- We all want those closest to us to be safe and secure. For users of canes or hiking sticks, Maurie Sandler has an ideal solution; a new medical product called the Multipurpose Spotlight Cane.
Sandlers' company, MSGlobal, began researching available security devices, and walking cane products, after a member of his immediate family passed away. After an exhaustive search, Sandler found an inventor who had developed the ideal cane product with all of the security features he was looking for, like an alarm, spotlight, and distress signal. Sandler immediately began working with inventor to bring the product to the United States. The result is the Multipurpose Spotlight Cane ($49.95, call 1-800-549-6278).
"My dad died a few years ago from a heart attack. He collapsed while taking his daily walk along the waterfront that he loved so much. He was 85 years old. Unfortunately, no one was near enough to see him fall. By the time someone had gotten to him, it was too late. I strongly believe that if he had a product like the SPOTLIGHT CANE, he could have sounded the emergency alarm and may have still been alive today," says Sandler.
The Multipurpose Spotlight Cane is made of aluminum alloy and is easily adjustable from 31 inches to 37 inches. It's light weight for ease of use, and foldable for ease of carrying or storing when not in use. It is beautifully crafted, ergonomically designed, and extremely durable.
"It's very easy to use," says Sandler. "There is only one button to control all of the cane's functions. Simply press the button once to turn on the spotlight. Press the button twice to activate the red warning safety flasher. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds to activate the emergency distress alarm. Customers are thrilled with the product, because it is not only very comfortable to use and easy to operate, but it provides them with real security as well."
Doctor Vladimir Oykhman, a noted acute care specialist, loved the cane so much that he purchased one for a member of his own family. Doctor Cynthia Cummings, a popular family doctor, raved about the product, and has suggested it to her patients and her family.
The Multipurpose Spotlight Cane from MSGlobal, $49.95 plus $6.95 shipping, is available by calling 1-800-549-6278, online at http://www.msglobaldirect.com/html/spotlightcane.html, or by sending check to: MSGlobal PO Box 478, Los Gatos, CA 95031-0478 USA.

Cheetah Coils Head to Chicago for Diagnostic Imaging Show
MR Instruments exhibits for the first time at the RSNA in Chicago on November 27th—with its new line of 3T Cheetah Coils™, designed and engineered specifically for application in the ultra high-field MRI realm.
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) November 18, 2005 -- MR Instruments, Inc. (MRII), makers of Cheetah Coils™ for 3 Tesla (3T) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), announces that it will exhibit for the first time at the 91st Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America. The meeting will be held in Chicago from November 27th through December 2nd, 2005.
MRII’s exclusive technology, used by the world’s leading research institutions for over 15 years, is now available for the 3T clinical market under the brand name Cheetah Coils. MRII will showcase its 15-element head coils, which are currently FDA cleared/CE marked and available for GE and Siemens 3T MRI systems. In addition, MRII will announce its multi-channel, transmit/receive and multi-nuclei products, available in early 2006. MRII will also demonstrate its complete line of 3T extremity coils available in large, medium, and small sizes. These extremity coils are FDA cleared/CE marked and available today, with first deliveries in early 2006.
“The efficient design inherent in Cheetah Coil’s proprietary technology allows for the production of significantly more information with considerably less power, about one fourth power on average, than coils of conventional technology,” says Dr. Kenneth Bradshaw, CTO, MRII. “These features give greater diagnostic yield, better images, faster scans, greater patient safety, and increase program ROI.”
At the 2005 Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) Ultra High-Field MRI Conference, Dr. Kamil Ugurbil, Chairman of CMRR, referred to MR Instruments’ technology as: “…the logical complement to the further growth in technical utility and advanced applications in MRI science and imaging.”
Cheetah Coils dramatically expand the scope of diagnostic options available for the MRI industry. Miracle Cure Using Far Infrared Sauna; Detoxify Is the Lazy, Smart Way to Perfect Health
LuxSauna’s free book shows how to gain massive momentum toward eliminating the cause of disease and regaining perfect health in just 7 days using an infrared sauna and by making simple yet critical adjustments to your diet.
(PRWEB) November 17, 2005 -- Detoxifying is the most essential action anyone can take to start the process towards vibrant, energetic and youthful health. It is staggering to learn how widespread toxins are part of our daily lives. Toxins are unavoidable and hard to eliminate and accumulate over years. The average weakened and toxic body has no way to metabolize this build up of stored chemicals, heavy metals, acids and disease causing toxins until now.
Using a LuxSauna infrared sauna will start you on the road to detoxification. Infrared heat saunas are an amazing improvement over traditional steam rooms and (very) hot rock saunas which produce maximum heat with minimal penetration; millimeters deep. LuxSauna uses far infrared heat waves that uniquely penetrate deep enough into the human body to expedite the elimination of dangerous disease-causing toxins and acids.
“Infrared heat is the only heat that penetrates deep enough and hot enough to melt subcutaneous fat, (at 40C or 104F), which is where the body stores dangerous toxins and acids, and literally shakes them lose so they can be directly expelled safely out of the body through our sweat,” says David Floyd, CEO of LuxSauna Inc.
An added health benefit of using an infrared sauna is weight loss. In addition to expending nearly 600 calories in a half hour session, you will eliminate stored up acids in the body. The average American consumes a predominantly acid diet that overwhelms our bodies. Ironically, the (smart) human mechanism for avoiding damage caused by acids is that the body stores acids away in fat to protect vital organs. No matter how much you diet, the body does not allow the total release of excess fat deposits in most people. Only when the acid is excreted can the body allow the release of stored up fat. Toxins are acid as well, so the alkaline balance can be restored quickly by the use of a sauna as well as the elimination of acids, which will lead to predictable weight loss for those who have excess fat.
Studies have shown that over 95% of disease is caused by the lack of oxygen. Where there is no oxygen, cancer thrives. Where there is an oxygen or alkaline environment, no disease can survive! The German Biochemist, Dr. Otto Warburg discovered this in 1923 and received the Nobel Prize in 1931 for doing so. Why do most doctors continue to ignore this and prescribe disease-causing drugs that merely hide the symptoms and avoid the cause? Finally, people are starting to become more educated! They are doing their own research and learning that toxins are ubiquitous and unavoidable and are in fact the main cause of disease.
The success of LuxSaunas far infrared saunas is based the company’s focus on the whole health package, the whole body. All the personnel at Luxsauna spend months in training to fully understand the health benefits and specific detoxification strategies and techniques using a sauna. Staff motivates people to eliminate their toxic load and modify their diet to consume more alkaline foods and liquids. For example: It takes 10 glasses of 10.4 PH alkaline water to neutralize one can of Coke! The ability to sweat 3 to 4 pounds of sweat in one half hour session, which includes 15%-20% toxins and acids, will greatly enhance the speed at which you can alter your ability to create an alkaline and disease free and healthy bodily environment.

Doctors Can Optimize Revenues with PayD
Doctors in the ever changing healthcare environment find it difficult to keep up with regulations and maximize revenue -- but help is on the way. Avanti Solutions Corp’s revolutionary and patent pending PayD process offers what doctors have been looking for.
Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 17, 2005 -- Avanti Solutions Corporation announced plans today for a great new way to manage cash flow and collections for small- and medium-size medical practices. The service, also known as "PayD,” allows doctors to get paid within 48 hours of submission of claims.
Managing receivables are one of the greatest challenges facing the healthcare industry today. Avanti’s goal is to make this challenge less daunting and less expensive for doctors. They will achieve this goal by combining the highest levels of technology and innovation with some of the best professionals in the business.
Here are some of the program highlights:
• Bills can be paid in 48 hours for doctors’ services
• Higher level of compliance
• Reduction in rejections by up to 30%
• Reduction in overhead by up to 50%
"This is the great service we have been looking for, specifically for small medical practices. As there are always changes in reimbursements from Medicaid, Medicare and private insurance, it is becoming difficult to keep pace with the current codes. We cannot afford full-time coders and billers. The startup review itself is great value and I would recommend this for all small to medium medical practices. This helps me focus on patients rather than the bills. Now medical practices have a choice. Let the professionals from Avanti manage revenues, cash flow and ultimately peace of mind. I recommend this without any reservations," attests an energetic physician user, Dr. Reddy.
Another executive Marilyn from medical practice in Maryland iterates her personal views saying, "We have been having lot of problems with getting our claims paid from our third party payers using paper claims. It was taking lot of my personal time and effort making follow up phone calls. In short, it was a nightmare for me. With the help from Avanti Solutions, I am able to streamline my billing process and concentrate on other important business matters. The processors at Avanti are prompt, professional, and give me personalized attention. I am very satisfied with their service and results."
At a time, when malpractice costs are going up, Avanti's PayD is a good solution to reduce overall expenditures. Additional benefits of the service include reduction in coding errors and more. Avanti's expert staff achieves this with the periodic reviews of medical charts.
For the same or slightly above what medical practices are already spending, doctors can reduce worries, increase cash flow, reduce legal liabilities and improve patient satisfaction. The costs can vary depending on a variety of factors including the average size of the receivable, average turnaround time, size of the practice, etc. Contact one of the Avanti specialists at 888-MED-SVC1 (888-633-7821) to learn more.

Kurve Technology Develops Intelligent Nasal Drug Delivery Device
ViaNase ID™ answers market demand for delivery systems that curb counterfeit drug use.
Bothell, WA (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) November 16, 2005 -- Kurve Technology, Inc. is launching the first nasal drug delivery device that incorporates drug identification and lock-out technologies, data transfer, and an electronic display – features that not only improve patient compliance but could prove to be important in curbing the multibillion dollar counterfeit drug market.
The latest in Kurve Technology’s drug delivery device line , ViaNase ID™ uses the company’s proprietary technology to control which drugs are used in the device. The attempted use of an unapproved drug renders the device inoperable. ViaNase ID also records such information as drug name, product code, and expiration date. This data can be saved to a data storage card or downloaded to a PC or PDA -- useful for physicians, pharmacies, and patients.
ViaNase ID also simplifies the administration of nasally-delivered drugs. On the electronic display, patients can see the number of doses delivered, number of doses left in the prescription, as well as receive alarm reminders when it’s time to administer the drug.
As with ViaNase – the company’s first nasal drug delivery device -- Kurve will license ViaNase ID to select pharmaceutical companies on a globally exclusive arrangement by therapeutic class.
Curbing the multi-billion dollar counterfeit drug market
Counterfeit drugs are fake medicines (sugar pills), poorly manufactured substitutes, or generic medicines that are deliberately mislabeled so that the consumer gets the impression that they are authentic, approved products. A recent report released by the Center for Medicines in the Public Interest projects counterfeit drug sales to reach $75 billion by 2010.
In attempts to curb drug counterfeiting, the pharmaceutical industry with the support of the Federal Drug Administration is developing a “pedigree” system that will track prescription drugs from production sites to retail pharmacies. However, tracking ends at the pharmacy. ViaNase ID picks up where this system leaves off by validating the pedigree of the drug at the device level– a step that could significantly curtail the use of counterfeit drugs and the misuse of correctly prescribed drugs.
“Both the FDA and the pharmaceutical industry have expressed great interest in curtailing the counterfeit drug market,” stated Marc Giroux, CEO of Kurve Technology. “As a truly intelligent nasal delivery device, ViaNase ID offers pharmaceutical companies one of the first methods at the patient level to confirm the drug is authentic.”
About Kurve Technology, Inc. :
Kurve Technology, Inc. offers pharmaceutical companies versatile nasal delivery systems for local and systemic medical therapies. Kurve’s Controlled Particle Dispersion (CPD)™ technology intranasally delivers compounds with far greater efficacy and efficiency than traditional methods. The ViaNase product line of intelligent atomizers incorporates CPD to deliver a wide range of compounds, aiding the more than 200 million patients who suffer from such medical conditions as allergic rhinitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, sexual dysfunction, migraine headache, obesity, and CNS disease. ThermaLogix provides its recently introduced and technically advanced non-contact sensor, the TL-75.
PDR-America’s proven IR technology is in the forefront when it comes to reworking micro-sized components prevalent in the lead free environment.
While many "make do" methods are being used to provide accurate temperature control, such as visually monitoring the solder at reflow or attempting to tack thermocouples to the PCB, they all rely somewhat on the user's skill or intervention. PDR-America has moved a step forward by now offering ThermaLogix’s unique non-contact pyrometer.
ThermaLogix TL-75 Series pyrometers measure the average temperature of just the target rather than measuring “spill over” areas adjacent to the target. In rework applications this means the TL-75 can accurately measure the temperatures of components as small as 2mm during both placement and removal. The TL-75’s integrated LED alignment beam illuminates the target, but unlike a LASER the TL-75 does not need a caution label.
The TL-75’s “operator safe” alignment beam also makes taking precise temperature measurements easy. The TL-75’s visible LED beam illuminates only the area to be measured. Rework professional can, with confidence and precision, know what area is actually being measured without having to calculate the distance from the target to the sensor (D:S Ratio).
The tight temperature control now possible with this instrument ensures that time/temperature ramp rates are accurate and the rework process repeatable.
By combining ThermaLogix’s patented thru-the-lens sighting with PDR’s patented focused IR rework systems, a new standard of controlled rework has emerged.
The new “Lead Free Soldering” challenge has mandated that higher rework temperatures become commonplace. To further complicate matters, small variances in temperature accuracy can lead to catastrophic results, exhibited by component failure, PCB de-lamination, etc. Never before has the need for accurate temperature sensing and controlled temperature delivery systems been more apparent than in Lead Free Rework!
PDR’s focused Infrared rework accuracy is achieved via two closed loop temperature feedback circuits. They are for the PCB and the component. Feedback measurements are taken real-time and take into consideration changes in the rework environment such as ambient temperature conditions, etc... Both component and PCB (top/bottom) IR heat is applied according to feedback from fast response sensors. Auto-profile software is a true auto-profile software due to real-time feedback provided by the fast response sensors.
Unlike conventional “black IR” or “hot air” rework methods, PDR’s patented technology and low mass component IR radiator provide close to zero lag time when component heating requirements follow a degrees per second change requirement as used in rework profiles.
PDR-America is proud to offer this new combination of technical excellence with all PDR model IRX-410Vi systems at no additional cost. That’s a savings of US$2,000.00.
This is a limited time offer. Some restrictions may apply.

Healthcare RFID Leader Announces Special 5th Anniversary Package
New Shepherd Door Alert Package to be sold for a maximum MSRP of $430. Management advises that with applicable instant on-line rebates the systems are available for as little as $95. Initial sales have been brisk. The systems will begin shipping in time for 2006 5th Anniversary. All systems and rebates are widely available through distributors, developers and user groups.
PORTLAND, MAINE (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) November 15, 2005 -- Parco Wireless announced today the release of "Shepherd" a new package designed to enable biomedical and material management staff to quickly, easily and cost effectively determine whether RFID tracking is appropriate for their institution. This package will be specially priced to help celebrate Parco's 5th Anniversary which begins in 2006.
The Parco Shepherd system consists of 20 Parco RFID tags and 1 Door Reader (Parco Part Number HWFBR-SYS.) The tags have a 4+ year battery life and can easily be attached to mobile assets such as wheelchairs, litters, infusion pumps, patient worn cardiac monitors and other high value mobile devices. The tags signal between 1 and 8 times per second (factory programmed) and are permanently sealed to provide better protection from moisture. The tags are compatible with all existing and future Parco RFID Tracking Systems.
The Door Reader is a new Parco product which is easily mounted above a door in the hospital's lobby. The reader is powered using an external transformer. The unit has a bright strobe-type light attached to the front. When a tag approximates a distance of 10 feet or less from the door the strobe-type light flashes alerting the security guard nearby that a tagged asset is about to leave the building. The Door Reader has an on/off switch, power transformer plug, reset button, power light and an input/output port which will support expansion devices including a planned WiFi interface.
The Parco tags can beacon 1 or more times per second which is most effectively demonstrated using the Parco Door Reader which identifies and alerts tagged assets while they are in motion. Competitor's tags and readers work less effectively because their tags beacon less than once every five seconds --- slower than the average person can walk through a door. The Parco tags have the best battery life and have been recognized with various awards from the industry.
Shepherd will be available at a discount from Parco Authorized Distributors, Developers and through a preferred customer referral website for $430. Distributors offering the special pricing include CDW Health, Accucode, QRS Medical and Accutech. Developers offering the special pricing include Aramark CTS, Patient Care Technology Systems, Phoenix Data Systems, Tagnos and the Parco Users Group.
Special marketing incentives including instant rebates are allowed with this package. Customers willing to participate in a couple of five question surveys and completing a referral form will receive instant rebates which reduce the price of the entire package to $95 excluding shipping and handling.
Orders are currently being accepted at a special website www.parcotrack.com (click this link to order.) The systems will begin shipping in December 2005.
Some restrictions apply including:
(a)All customers must accept and digitally sign the standard Parco End User License Agreement. (b)Limit one Shepherd system per customer campus building. (c) Available to qualified hospitals, long-term care facilities, medical clinics, surgical clinics, or similar healthcare related businesses. (d) Offer not valid outside of the U.S.

New Weapon in War Against Sleep Deprivation
Breathe Free introduces the latest weapon in the battle against sleep deprivation caused by snoring.
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 14, 2005 -- Sleep deprivation has reached epidemic proportions around the globe and one of its leading causes is habitual snoring. Though most may not be consciously aware of their snoring turbulence, upwards of 100 snore-related restless mini awakenings each night are quite common and disrupt deep sleep required for rest and rejuvenation. As well, every family member within ear-shot of “2nd Hand Snoring” have become victims of sleep deprivation which has been linked to all kinds of health risks ranging from heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and obesity. Snoring has become an “equal opportunity” discomfort and health risk.
For years, snoring was the center of many jokes, however, snoring is no laughing matter. Many injuries and fatalities have been linked to sleep deprivation as more people begin to suffer the effects of shortened periods of sleep because of snoring. For most people snoring is not a medical issue. For others who are told that they continually “gasp for breath” -- a visit to a medical professional is advised.
Simple snoring and associated issues has become increasingly common in women as they approach 60 years of age. Though there are many snoring related products on the market, till recently, few have offered sustained relief. With the market growing exponentially, retailers are rapidly making available new snore-relief options on the shelf space in their sleep-aid or cough and cold sections. Snoring-related products are a multi-million dollar per year business and considerably larger in dollar sales if one were to include transactions made over the web every day, in addition to sales generated by other media.
Breathe Free has recently introduced a break-through product which promises to be the newest and most effective weapon in the war against sleep deprivation caused by snoring. Breathe Free is a disposable, plastic nose dilator introduced by Mayan Laboratories, LLC in Commack, New York. The first ever daily disposable throw-away internal nasal dilator Breathe Free relieves snoring by reducing nasal air flow resistance and promotes easier breathing in any sleeping position.
Major retailers like CVS Pharmacy, Rite-Aid, Eckerd-Brooks, Albertsons, Osco-Savon, H.E.Butt, Meijer and others have stocked their shelves with Breathe Free disposable nasal dilators. National television advertising is scheduled for last quarter 2005 and designed to continue the momentum of converting snoring related sleep deprived customers into happy snore-free households. Retailers are hailing this nasal device as a growing addition to their cadre of new, safe and drug-free products that can improve consumer health while boosting retail store sales.

Study Uses Series of Quantitative Measures to Prove Efficacy of Endermologie® in Reduction of Cellulite
A clinical study recently published in the international medical journal Les Nouvelles Dermatologiques shows that Endermologie®, a machine assisted deep tissue massage technique, is effective in reducing the appearance of cellulite, and keeping it at bay for at least six months.
(PRWEB) November 12, 2005 -- A clinical study recently published in the international medical journal Les Nouvelles Dermatologiques shows that Endermologie®, a machine assisted deep tissue massage technique, is effective in reducing the appearance of cellulite, and keeping it at bay for at least six months.
Cellulite, a progressive disease of the connective tissues. affects 90 percent of women. Often referred to as the “fat that’s not your fault,” cellulite is resistant to exercise and reduced caloric intake.
The study, conducted by dermatologist J.P. Ortonne and a team of researchers based at L’Hopital Archet in Nice, France, involved a group of 30 women diagnosed with cellulite via clinical assessments including standardized photographs, perimeter and skin fold thickness measures, and skin imprint techniques.
Each of the women received two 35-minute Endermologie treatments per week for eight weeks, using the Cellu-M6 Keymodule. Endermologie is a non-invasive technique using motorized rollers to mobilize the cutaneous tissue. It is FDA-cleared for reducing the appearance of cellulite.
After the initial treatment period, the patients were divided randomly into three groups for a follow-up period of six months, each receiving 0, 1, or 2 follow-up sessions per month. A series of quantitative measurements were employed to monitor results and their duration.
Among key findings:
- The treatments produced a significant decrease in all of the patients of mean perimeter and skin fold thickness, as early as week four.
- By week eight, a decrease in skin fold thickness of up to 3.5 centimeters was observed in all the subjects.
- During the six-month follow-up period, in which the groups received varying frequencies of treatment, patients receiving one or two treatments per month continued to see reductions, and the patients who received no further treatments remained stable, with no change in skin fold thickness.
- Standardized photographs clearly demonstrate slimming of the thighs; Other quantitative tests performed with ultrasound and skin imprint/image analysis support these results, showing significant improvement in the skin’s structure after the course of Endermologie.
- The patients also participated in a subjective self-evaluation. They were able to record any changes in the firmness and smoothness of their skin, and to comment on their experience with the treatments.
- During the initial treatment phase, 95 percent of the patients reported an improvement in their cellulite as early as week four, also reporting “smoother and less dimpled skin.”
- 90 to 100 percent of the women characterized the treatment as “pleasant,” “relaxing,” or “producing a sensation of well-being.”
Copies of the study: “Treatment of cellulite: effectiveness and sustained effect at 6 months with Endermologie® demonstrated by several quantitative evaluation methods” are available from the American Cellulite Task Force*
*The American Cellulite Task Force is a multidisciplinary group of physicians from across the U.S. established to provide media, consumers and aesthetic professionals with the latest research, education and advocacy on cellulite.
Media may request additional information or interviews with ACTF members and doctors who view cellulite as a medical condition rather than lifestyle malaise by contacting the ACTF's Communications Officer, Kip Morrison at (310)274-6726.

The Bird Flu Is Coming and a Real Flu Fighter Has Been Overlooked
An all natural berry extract can reduce the duration of flu symptoms to 4 days. Most people, including doctors, do not know of this valuable natural remedy. It has been scientifically tested in human beings with great efficacy. It is safe and almost completely free of side effects.
(PRWEB) November 7, 2005 -- No one would blame you for being skeptical about our preparedness for the coming flu season. The recent disaster surrounding Hurricane Katrina has called our ability to deal with any natural disaster into question. With the bird flu (Avian Influenza) infecting people and scientists waiting nervously for signs of the next major flu pandemic there is a lot of panic spreading.
A Southeastern Pennsylvania doctor says he has the answer in the form of an all natural flu fighter that reduces flu symptoms and shortens the course of the disease. Dr. Dave Woynarowski, M.D., a Board certified Internist and Anti-aging doctor says, “We have been quietly making a product called Immune Booster for over a year now. The main ingredient is a highly concentrated, purified Elderberry extract. It comes from Austria and Italy and we have the exclusive distribution rights on the raw materials.”
When asked what role it plays in fighting the flu he says, "It's amazing. Elderberry extract was found to be effective against every strain of flu in the subject population. The other key thing is the subjects were real people, not just lab rats or viruses in a dish."
How does it work?
"It appears that it may actually coat the virus and prevent it from spreading. It reduces the symptoms of flu and I feel if you are taking this product on a regular basis you may never even get the flu.”
“Flu virus, especially bird flu, also known as Avian Influenza, can mutate very quickly. The virus you get the shot for is based on what was happening in China earlier this year. By the time the flu gets here it may be a very different virus and you may not be protected.”
Immune Booster's proposed mechanism eliminates this problem.
What if you do get the flu?
Most flu infections have symptoms for 7 to 10 days or longer. If you take the leading prescription drug for the flu you will get 5 pills that cost around $130 and reduce your symptoms by an unimpressive 1.4 day average. Plus, you only have 48 hours to get to the doctor and wait in an office full of sick people to get your prescription. After 48 hours, this medicine won’t help you.
Now let's say you got Immune Booster and waited until you got the flu to take it.
According to Dr. Dave, “In the studies Elderberry extract cleaned up most people's symptoms by day four. As you can see this is far better.”
He also points out that unlike Echinacea which still remains popular even though study after study has found it to be worthless, Elderberry extract has stood the test of scientific study.
What about Bird flu?
"Immune Booster should have the same effect on bird flu as other influenza viruses.”
There is a lot of panic about bird flu, or Avian Influenza, because it has already developed resistance to the standard prescription drugs.
Dr. Dave reminds us that the real worth of the flu shot and other flu medicines can only be determined after the flu season is over. Many times standard therapies (shots and pills) are proven marginally effective, especially for the very young and very old.
What about taking it if you have had a flu shot?
“I don’t see any reason it wouldn’t work with the shot or other anti-flu medicines, but there are no studies. I think the best way is to get on Immune Booster and stay on it year round or at least for the duration of the flu season.”
Are there any problems associated with Immune Booster?
“Not unless you are allergic to Elderberries!”
When asked if the product had any other uses, Dr. Dave replied that he uses it year round as a general immune booster and that its mechanism of action should apply to almost any viral infection. This includes anything from the common cold to the AIDS virus! Based on current trends the demand will far outstrip the supply much like the problem with flu fighting drugs and flu shots.”

Gulf War Veteran to Offer Customized Tinnitus Care in Arizona
Spectral Visualization and Development (SVD) Inc. announces that Edward Maznio, of ABBOTT Hearing Centers has joined the growing network of professionals offering tinnitus services using Quiescence, a diagnostic and treatment tool.
(PRWEB) November 10, 2005 -- Spectral Visualization and Development (SVD) Inc. announces that Edward Maznio, of ABBOTT Hearing Centers has joined the growing network of professionals offering tinnitus services using Quiescence, a diagnostic and treatment tool.
“I've been a tinnitus sufferer myself for as long as I can remember. However, it has become more noticeable in the last few years,” said Mr. Maznio, a veteran of the Gulf War and owner of ABBOTT Hearing Centers. “I attribute my tinnitus to exposure from loud noises over the years in the military and from recreational weapons use.”
“Like myself, many former members of the military have tinnitus,” said Mr. Maznio. “I have researched many options for quieting my tinnitus and found none to be effective until I tried Quiescence.”
Tinnitus is a global problem affecting 18% of the world’s population. Even though nearly 50 million Americans suffer from this hearing problem, it’s often neglected by health care officials and sufferers alike.
“Unlike hearing loss, many tinnitus sufferers live in a personal world of head noises,” said Mr. Maznio. “No one else knows how much they are irritated inside, and to add salt to their wound, many are told by healthcare professionals that they will just have to ‘live with it’."
“Tinnitus patients perceive a subjective sound such as ringing or buzzing in the ears without an outside source for the noise,” said Dr. Dennis Woo, Vice President of SVD Inc. “If the condition is not effectively treated, it has a profoundly adverse effect on the patients’ quality of life.”
“Quiescence,” said Dr. Woo, “not only measures tinnitus, it also helps tinnitus patients to understand their condition, which increases their control over the condition and, in effect, over their quality of life.”
“According to recent research, 90% of tinnitus patients can experience residual inhibition,” said Dr. Woo. “This means that many patients will experience softer or even total silencing of their tinnitus. Quiescence generates customized digital audio for each patient, which maximizes the patient’s residual inhibition experience.”
“There are many advantages to tinnitus care using Quiescence, but the most obvious to me is that it helps the patient self-manage their treatment,” said Mr. Maznio. “Although it isn’t a cure, it’s effective and could potentially be life-saving for those who suffer day-in and day-out with the constant ringing or chirping sounds in their heads. For tinnitus sufferers, this is an effective means to get targeted masking and residual inhibition relief on an as-needed basis.”
“The special personalized audio CD produced by Quiescence is like a Tylenol for tinnitus patients,” said Dr. Woo. “Patients use the CD when they need it, giving them control over their tinnitus.”
Dr. Woo noted that Quiescence also helps tinnitus sufferers to sleep. “Sleep deprivation is a common problem for tinnitus sufferers,” said Dr. Woo, “but Quiescence allows them to get the deep, relaxing sleep they would otherwise never experience.”
“Much like our fingerprints, no two persons experience the exact same tinnitus,” said Dr. Woo. “Quiescence measures and treats each tinnitus patient according to their needs. Based on my experience, the best approach is based on a personalized tinnitus management solution.”
“A personalized approach is logically the best approach,” said Mr. Maznio. “In over 90% of cases, patients are able to enjoy minutes, hours or even days of silence via the custom-made audio CD created with Quiescence. For a tinnitus sufferer, nothing is more valuable than the pleasure of silence once again.”
SVD Inc. is a software company in New Brunswick, Canada, specializing in advanced signal processing technologies for engineering and medical industries. Quiescence is a trademark of SVD Inc.

Dr. Hull has been practicing medicine for more than 25 years and has been the clinic’s Director since 1991.
The CompassCare clinical information system is the OccHealth industry’s only fully-integrated system that combines the functionality of an electronic medical record (EMR) with a web-based communications platform linking healthcare providers, insurers, employers and third-party administrators. “Our practice implemented a computerized information system more than five years ago and gained significant efficiencies, however, we found the CompassCare system to be a significant advancement on the current state of technology,” said Hull.
The CompassCare system is rules-based, which synchronizes workflow around the complex process of medical information management. It includes modules for billing, finance, scheduling, prescription, employer, case management and payer claim management. “Our HIPAA compliant system creates all of the documents, including the Physician First Report, PR2, PR4's and all of the employer specific reports automatically at discharge, and communicates them to the appropriate people dramatically lowering costs while optimizing the entire communication process,” says Stuart Johnstone, CEO of CompassCare.
With the CompassCare system installed, physicians in Dameron’s OccHealth clinic will now enter their information on a tablet PC using stored responses to capture clinical notes in real-time while eliminating dictation and difficult-to-read handwriting. “The CompassCare system will significantly improve clinical documentation and operational efficiency while reducing costs and data entry errors,” says Hull. The HIPAA-compliant system also stores and continuously backs-up the data for improved security and better record-keeping.
“Using conventional processes, it is not uncommon for a week or two to pass before clinical information makes its way from the doctor to the claims adjuster in its proper form,” says Johnstone. “With CompassCare we are able to get information in the hands of claims adjusters at the time of discharge, which significantly improves our clients’ operating efficiency and performance.”

Super Egg Dietary Supplement Helps Support Healthy Immune Systems During a Pandemic
HyperImmune Egg, the “Super Egg,” is a food supplement that can help the body achieve a balanced immune system.
(PRWEB via PR Web Direct) November 9, 2005 -- Last week, President George W. Bush announced a $7.1 billion strategy to prepare the United States for a possible avian flu outbreak. However, people worldwide can take precautions now to protect themselves from this and other diseases.
With over 100 worldwide patents, Hyperimmune Egg technology delivers essential immune components for optimum balance of the body’s immune system. Hyperimmune Egg is not a drug and therefore will not cause any side effects associated with them. Derived from whole chicken eggs, it is a revolutionary dietary supplement that helps the body to support and maintain a balanced immune system, thereby regulating and supporting:
• Healthy digestive systems
• Healthy cardiovascular and circulatory function
• Healthy cholesterol levels
• Flexible and healthy joints
• Energy Levels
• Feelings of well-being
Dr. Verna Mackey, C.E.O. of Baby Boomer Productions Inc., says Hyperimmune Egg provides an extraordinary amount of immune proteins and antibodies, and can be compared to the protection a nursing infant receives from mother’s milk. She says that with a “potential pandemic perhaps only a plane ride away”, the timing couldn’t be more appropriate.
The immune system is the body’s primary defense against disease-causing organisms, and maintaining it is a delicate balancing act. Hyperimmune Egg consumption introduces the body to a smorgasbord of immune support, whereby its own natural abilities for self-protection and balance can be optimized and enhanced.

How to Create a Lean Manufacturing Process with Environmentally Friendly Self-Cleaning Industrial Filters
I am sure you have heard it before, 'Self-cleaning filters not only reduce waste, but also turn it into PROFIT!" It is a well-known fact that by disposing the contaminants--and not the filter--would create a leaner manufacturing process. However, many facilities are apprehensive to take the next step, which is to switch from disposable bags and cartridges to a self-cleaning filtration process.
(PRWEB) November 9, 2005 -- Running the Numbers:
So, how do the numbers wash out? Here is a way to conduct a preliminary feasibility study to begin your return on investment justification. This five-minute analysis could save you millions in cost savings.
Conducting an instant preliminary feasibility study:
Undoubtedly, you have some questions. You are wondering whether self-cleaning filters can help with your waste minimization problems. Or just how much they can reduce your disposal costs. Or improve your return on investment.
Grab a calculator and a pencil. By completing the following self-survey, you can quickly calculate what disposable media filters are costing you in terms of disposal costs alone.
When you finish, you will have taken a major step toward determining whether self-cleaning filters are a viable alternative to the filters you are currently using or considering.
Determining Your Disposal Costs for Disposable Media Filters:
1. For one filter, multiply the number of cartridges or bags it contains by the number of changeouts per year. This will give you the total number of spent media per year. Write your answer below.
Example: A cartridge filter with 36 - 10-inch cartridges is changed every week: 36 cartridges x 52 weeks - 1,872 cartridges per year.
CARTRIDGES PER YEAR: __________
Spent Media per Year:
2. If you are using 10-inch cartridges or bags, divide the total number of spent media per year by 180 (this is how many of these cartridges or bags fit into one 55-gallon drum). If you are using 30-inch cartridges, divide the total number of spent cartridges per year by 60. In each case, the result is the total number of 55-gallon drums that you will fill each year.
Example: 1,872 total spent cartridges divided by 180 = 10.4 barrels per year.
BARRELS PER YEAR: __________
10-inch cartridges or bags:
30-inch cartridges:
3. Multiply the number of barrels per year by the cost per barrel for disposal.
Example: Assuming you pay $500 per barrel for non-hazardous waste (or $1,000 per barrel for hazardous waste), the calculation is 10.4 x $500 = $5,200 (or 10.4 x $1,000 = $10,400).
DISPOSAL COSTS PER FILTER PER YEAR: $__________
Remember – these calculations are based on a single filter, and they account for disposal costs only. Additional costs include the purchase price for disposable cartridges or bags (typically at least $3 apiece) as well as associated costs such as the labor required for media replacement, the increased emissions, and the increased safety risk.

A Wheelchair Called SPAZZ Caused A Scandal. Why? “Think Outside of the Box” Says John Box
Colours N Motion recently launched its products in several European markets and some members of the media objected to the name of one of its wheelchairs, Spazz. Colours asks those of the disabled community and those who support our community to join in our mission to break down the barriers of the past and rebel against all labels that hold us down.
London, UK and Corona, California (PRWEB) November 8, 2005 -- The recent launch of Colours Wheelchairs in European markets has received a hearty welcome by the disabled community. But some members of the media have focused on one of the Wheelchairs, “Spazz” because of its name, which has been labeled “derogatory” and “offensive." Colours asks those of the disabled community and those who support our community to join in our mission to break down the barriers of the past and rebel against all labels that hold us down.
Why is “Spazz” considered a bad word? Doesn’t this reflect society’s rejection and misunderstanding of the disabled community? Is it so hard to imagine a day when words such as Spazz will no longer be labels? Perhaps we can even imagine that words such as these may one day be associated with something positive?
The use of strong emotionally charged labels by those for whom they are intended, can cause the meaning to transform. Members of minority groups often use labels within the community, which are widely considered to be “politically incorrect”. This can have the effect of removing the stigma of the word and neutralizing it. Words which were once considered derogatory labels can lose their negative meaning when the community itself takes ownership. Isn’t it possible that a word that is used to label disabled people can one day lose its negative meaning?
We believe that we should not be afraid of labels or the risk of being the first to challenge them. We realize that by being the first, by being different, we also run the risk of receiving the outrage of those who are unwilling to change. But rebellious actions can also incite change. Colours is all about change and will always rebel against barriers to the disabled. Colours is a disabled-operated organization on a mission to open doors that are now closed to the disabled, to bury the labels and to tear down the barriers. If you are going to be in a wheelchair, wouldn’t it be cool to have the hottest, “baddest” wheels? Why should you be restricted to wheelchairs called “Quick” or “Lite”? Why shouldn’t you be allowed to be a bit different and show the world that you are not afraid to be who you are?
Colours invites you to “think outside of the box”. Make your own decisions. Don’t worry about what others are going to say. If it is a great wheelchair, does it really matter what it is called?
About Colours:
Colours N Motion is more than just a California-based manufacturer of ultra lightweight, active wheelchairs. Colours’ goal is to lead the disabled community out of the bonds of the past and out of the labels put upon us. Colours is a disabled-operated company which leads the community by advocating for more rights, opening new frontiers and designing products that do not meet standard views. Colours invites you to see what the excitement is all about. Visit our website at www.ColoursWheelchair.com and enjoy the ride! Coulors has been breaking barriers in the USA for 15 years and is now expanding rapidly in Europe. Canadian Internet Drug Company Provides Aid to Diabetics
Canadian Internet Pharmacy intermediary Le Pharmacy announces an unprecedented initiative for Diabetes Awareness Month. LePharmacy.com will donate a percentage of sales revenue to the American Diabetes Association for the balance of 2005. Canada is a low cost provider of glucophage and metphormin. Diabetics purchasing in Canada, will save in excess of 50% on these drugs, amounting to hundreds of dollars per year. LePharmacy "Living With Series" continues to reinvest through donations, price reductions and free DVD's, providing insight into the illnesses that affect their customers and their families.
(PRWEB) November 7, 2005 -- November 2005 is Diabetes Awareness Month. Canadian Internet Pharmacy intermediary LePharmacy announced that they will donate a percentage of sales revenue to the American Diabetes Association for the balance of 2005. “We recognize the need to support Diabetic research and to provide those who are living with diabetes, the greatest possible savings. Since federal funding for research has not kept pace with the increased prevalence of the disease, we have a corporate responsibility to contribute to the prevention, cure and treatment of diabetes,” said Ross McKinlay, Director of Sales for www.LePharmacy.com.
The Canadian health system provides brand name Glucophage and the generic Metformin through Canadian pharmacies for less than half the price than your average US drugstore. The 50% cost reduction from Canada can save a family hundreds of dollars a year.
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles.
There are 20.8 million people in the United States, or 7% of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, unfortunately, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease. Type 2 diabetes is the most common and accounts for almost 90 percent of all diagnosed cases and was previously called adult onset diabetes. Type 1 diabetes accounts for the balance and usually occurs in children and young adults.
LePharmacy.com “Living With Series,” continues to provide support tools to friends and families of people living with many of today’s life threatening critical illnesses. Under the ALS category, Le Pharmacy is offering a free DVD entitled “The Man Who Learned to Fall,” an inspirational award winning documentary about Phillip Simmons, a gifted writer and English Professor who is diagnosed with ALS. Despite his condition, he continued to write and published “Learning to Fall: the Blessings of an Imperfect Life,” described by The New York Times Book Review as “ a literary gem enlightening us about the deepest mysteries of life.”

Why Spray Nozzle Protection is Important During Your Manufacturing Process
WHAT IS SPRAY NOZZLE PROTECTION? Spray Nozzles are specifically engineered for four critical functions: flow control, cleaning, coverage, and atomizing. It is important to filter solids from water, or any industrial liquid, before they reach your spray nozzles.
(PRWEB) November 6, 2005 -- Unwanted and oversized particles can block the inside of an orifice, which in turn restricts water flow, impairs spray uniformity, and allows debris to pass through which in turn ends up in your process or on your product.
The proper filtration will help keep the nozzle clear of debris enabling them to provide uniform and consistent spray patterns.
For spray nozzle protection, careful media selection is essential. The primary factor to be considered is orifice size and shape of the nozzle opening. Other factors include solids content, type of contaminant, particle size, and shape, amount of contaminant to be removed, liquid temperature, and required flow rates.
For liquids other than water, knowing the liquid's viscosity, corrosiveness, abrasiveness, and adhesive qualities are essential in specifying the nozzle protection filter.
EXAMPLE -- FLUE GAS SCRUBBER SPRAY NOZZLE PROTECTION
To prevent fly ash and sulfur dioxide from venting into the atmosphere, flue gas scrubbers uniformly spray a sorbent into the dirty, hot flue gas. These sorbents, however, often contain oversized particles that can plug spray nozzle orifices. When this happens, the spray becomes uneven, and fly ash and sulfur dioxide can escape from the scrubber.
The key to spray nozzle protection is to filter the liquid before sending it to the spray nozzle. This eliminates the excess and oversize particles, which ultimately plugs the nozzle orifices. Once plugged, the spray becomes uneven, and the output quality becomes compromised. All at an additional and unnecessary expense to the bottom line.
The pro-active approach to this problem is to protect the spray nozzles, which is to filter the solution before it reaches this stage of the process. While there are many different filtration options, the most cost effective is to use self-cleaning filters. This is why incinerator systems manufacturers regularly contact Ronningen-Petter (RPA Process Technologies) to analyze their filtration methods in hopes of protecting their expensive spray nozzles while lowering their process costs.
A SELF-CLEANING SOLUTION
Ronningen-Petter typically determines that the solution to this problem is twofold. To begin, many manufacturing facilities are throwing out more cartridges than necessary with disposable media. That is because disposable media are typically changed on a time cycle (e.g., once a shift, once a day, or once a week), regardless of whether the media needs replacement. To effectively filter when needed -- and not when convenient -- it is important to use automation when at all possible.
With the use of automation, the filters can be cleaned at precisely the right time, rather than when it is convenient. That is because the cleaning is controlled by the pressure differential between inlet and outlet headers as contaminants build up on the filter screen. When the pressure reaches a predetermined level, the screens are cleaned automatically -- only as needed, and when needed.
The second problem was their use of processing liquids (sorbent) with unwanted and prior supposedly 'filtered' particles in it, which resulted in fouling and clogging of the spray nozzles. The consequence of this dynamic was uneven spray and fly ash/sulfur dioxide escaping from the scrubber.
Once identified, the incinerator systems manufacturer eliminated this problem by using Ronningen-Petter (automated) self-cleaning filters. This meant less waste in the process. It also limited the unwanted particles in the process stream, which eliminated the spray nozzle clogging. Therefore, the process line did not have to be stopped to clean the nozzles.
RESULTS
The incinerator systems manufacturers are extremely pleased with the reliable operation of the filters, the elimination of spray nozzle plugging and fouling, as well as the fact that there are no spent cartridges to dispose.

Enzymes Help in the Treatment of Asthma
Ellen Cutler, MD, DC is on a campaign to help educate parents and health professionals. Millions of poor and minority kids will likely suffer even higher rates of asthma due to urban toxins and global warming. Dr. Cutler has had success in controlling asthma through enzyme therapy and feels it's essential for the management of the disease.
Mill Valley, CA (PRWEB) November 4, 2005 -- Revealing her experience as a clinical practitioner in treating children with asthma, Dr. Ellen Cutler says that enzymes are one of the keys to successfully controlling asthma in children. According to a report released by Harvard researchers and the American Public Health Association millions of poor and minority children in America’s cities will likely suffer even higher rates of asthma as the result of a powerful one-two punch of higher levels of pollen and changes in the types of molds spurred by global warming, along with unhealthy urban air masses caused by the burning of fossil fuel by cars, trucks and buses.
“I’m really worried about this grave situation,” said Dr. Cutler. “Asthma is already at epidemic levels and I believe this is a wake-up call to all health professionals who treat kids. The good news is that health risks of asthma may be reduced with enzyme therapy.” In her lectures, Dr. Cutler describes that many children who suffer with asthma are plagued with food allergies. The most common food allergies are: milk, corn, soy, tree nuts, wheat, fish and shellfish, and eggs. But there are many other food sensitivities that are delayed and chronic. For example, fruits, spices, alcohol, beans, chocolate, yeast and sulfites in foods. These sensitivities added to the more common food allergies are triggers for sinusitis, and respiratory problems. Enzymes can cut these allergies considerably and consequently reduce asthma. Enzymes are safe, natural, easy to use and there are even chewable enzymes for children who can’t swallow capsules. A case history from Dr. Cutler’s clinical practice can help illustrate the impact of enzyme therapy for asthmatic conditions.
Jonathan. Age 6 came to the BioSET/clinic suffering from chronic allergy-related sinus headaches and moderate asthma. His mother commented that Jonathan was frequently complaining of headaches and itchy eyes. A full evaluation was performed and quite a few allergies were uncovered. I also discovered, based on a BioSET evaluation that Jonathan was unable to digest sugars and fats sufficiently. A multiple (chewable) digestive enzyme was recommended as well as two other systemic enzyme for reducing histamine and inflammation. Jonathan’s food allergies were reduced significantly and as a result his symptoms were minimized.
Dr. Cutler is the preeminent authority in the field of enzyme therapy. She is the author of four books including MicroMiracles: Discover the Healing Power of Enzymes ($15.95, paperback original, October) and she explains how and why enzymes are essential to the treatment of chronic diseases such as asthma. Based on extensive research and more than two decades of life-changing work with patients suffering from this disease, she wants to bring enzyme therapy into the mainstream of healthcare.
“Enzymes are the medicine of the future, she said. “They are safe for all ages, natural and vegetarian, and essential to true healing in its most basic sense: Digest your illness away. Enzymes are the key to the restoration of optimal health and balance.”
ABOUT Ellen Cutler
Ellen Cutler, D.C., M.D. is the founder of BioSET, an innovative healing system that combines enzyme therapy with other complementary medicine disciplines. The author of such groundbreaking books as Winning the War against Asthma and Allergies and The Food Allergy Cure, Dr. Cutler presents workshops and seminars on enzyme therapy to health care professionals around the world. She lives in Marin County, California. For more information logon to: www.bioSET-institute.com.

Solanova’s Nexrutine® Selected as One of America’s Top Natural Pain Relievers By Consumer Health Digest
Consumer Health Digest just named Solanova's Nexrutine as one of America's top natural pain relievers. Formulated by a licensed pharmacist, Nexrutine is cardio-protective, safe, effective and does not upset the stomach.
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 4, 2005 -- It all started when Bob Garrison, a licensed pharmacist and CEO of Next Pharmaceuticals, Inc. decided to create a natural pain reliever that would rival Vioxx, Celebrex, Bextra and even aspirin. His intention was to develop a cardio-protective anti-inflammatory (rather than pose the cardiovascular threat associated with some of the drugs on the market). In addition, he vowed to create a formula that would not impede the protective activity in the stomach cells, the way aspirin does, leaving users more vulnerable to ulcers. After years of research in humans he came up with Nexrutine®, a proprietary patent-pending extract of Phellodendron amurense, a medicinal plant used in Asia for more than 2,000 years. Enter Solanova, a leading “Heart Health” dietary supplement company based in Northern California that saw the potential and jumped on the opportunity to distribute the long-awaited remedy to people suffering from pain associated with inflammatory disease and physical activity.
Today, Next Pharmaceuticals and Solanova revealed that Solonova’s Nexrutine®, was selected as one of America’s Top 10 Pain Relievers by Consumer Health Digest. The health experts at the publication reviewed over 75 natural pain relief products currently available. Their rigorous assessment included review of the following product attributes: safety; joint and muscle pain relief; anti-inflammatory action; and support for healthy joints and connective tissue. “We’re very excited about the recognition that Consumer Health Digest has given Nexrutine®, said Garrison. “We have known that it is one of the best natural anti-inflammatory products on the market. This recognition is very validating and it helps get the word out to the people who need it.”
According to Mark Andersen, VP of Marketing for Solanova, “We are very pleased to receive a Safety rating of 5 out of 5 from Consumer Health Digest. But, frankly, we expected nothing less given the clinical data on Nexrutine proving how safe and effective it is.”
Nexrutine® extract is a unique anti-inflammatory in that it keeps platelets from sticking together and thereby decreases the risk of stroke. Its primary anti-inflammatory compound has also been shown to significantly lower cholesterol demonstrating that it is truly a heart-protective anti-inflammatory.
Solanova, “The Heart Health Company”, is a nutritional supplement company with the singular objective of helping optimize health and well-being utilizing the resources of nature. Founded over ten years ago in Northern California, Solanova is backed by millions of dollars invested in research and manufacturing. For more information go to www.Solanova.com.
Next Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a research and development company that markets its patented or patent-pending ingredients such as Relora®, Nexrutine®, Seditol® and Citri-Z™ to food, beverage, and dietary supplement companies seeking differentiation and a marketing edge with their healthy living products. SLP Launches the Home Version of BiteStrip - a New Innovative Sleep Bruxism Screener
SLP, a leading developer of physiological sensors for diagnosing sleep disorders, launched the home version of BiteStrip, a new innovative Sleep Bruxism Screener, which can identify the existence and frequency of bruxism. This accurate, single-use home screening device can be used to confidently and precisely prepare for and evaluate bruxing therapy, treatment of a malocclusion, occlusal restoration, snoring and sleep apnea treatment, and temporomandibular joint pain therapies
Tel-Aviv, Israel (PRWEB) November 3, 2005 -- SLP, a leading developer of physiological sensors for diagnosing sleep disorders, launched the home version of BiteStrip, a new innovative Sleep Bruxism Screener, which can identify the existence and frequency of bruxism.
This accurate, single-use home screening device can be used to confidently and precisely prepare for and evaluate bruxing therapy, treatment of a malocclusion, occlusal restoration, snoring and sleep apnea treatment, and temporomandibular joint pain therapies.
Bruxism is the medical term for grinding, gnashing or clenching the teeth. This condition affects both children and adults. Some people with bruxism unconsciously clench their teeth during the day, often when they feel anxious or tense. When children, who have bruxism, and some adults with the condition, grind or clench their teeth during sleep, this is called sleep bruxism.
Studies that have been published recently at the Journal of Oral Rehabilitation and the International Journal of Prosthodontics indicated a need to standardize methods for clinical assessment of bruxism and that tooth wear status is not predictive of ongoing bruxism level. Realizing the increasing need in simple, cost effective diagnostics of real-time sleep bruxism, SLP just launched the homecare medical device of BiteStrip.
An alternative to formal sleep and EMG studies, the BiteStrip is a low-cost, easy-to-use device given to a patient suspected of bruxing. The self-adhesive BiteStrip contains a sophisticated micro CPU that operates real-time acquisition and analysis software designed to detect and count EMG signals from the masticatory muscles during sleep.
A score representing a range of events is recorded on the permanent display. The score, interpreted by the doctor, indicates the existence and frequency of bruxing. More complementary information about bruxism and the innovative BiteStrip device, both for doctors and patients can be found at BiteStrip website, www.bitestrip.com.
About BiteStrip
The BiteStrip™ is a low cost, disposable self-use home test for Sleep Bruxism. Its indications correlate well with comparable indications from formal sleep lab studies. It is available through health providers worldwide at a low price to the public and as a self-administered or prescription test.
The BiteStrip unit can be included as a part of the patient’s permanent medical record and used as a follow-up tool to evaluate the effectiveness of treatment as well. For more details, please visit BiteStrip website at, www.bitestrip.com

A New Snoring Cure Eliminates Serious Health Effects of Snoring
A new, inexpensive and simple anti-snoring device from SleepGenie.com gives snorers a new lease on life.
Richmond, IN (PRWEB via PR Web Direct) November 1, 2005 -- A new, inexpensive and simple anti-snoring device from SleepGenie.com gives snorers a new lease on life. People are saving thousands of dollars on sleep studies and expensive surgeries and getting the sound sleep they (and their spouses) have been dying for.
People who snore or suffer from obstructive sleep apnea can experience serious health problems resulting from a constant lack of sleep. Snoring has been linked to obesity, heart disease, and is an indicator of other serious sleeping disorders such as obstructive sleep apnea.
Studies show that whether snorers notice it or not, they could be waking out of deep REM sleep over 100 times per night. Doctors are warning that in an already sleep-deprived society, heavy snorers are opening themselves up to serious health and weight problems each time they lay down for the night.
"Our clients are reporting that they never even noticed how much they had gotten used to being in a zombie-like state in their day to day lives" says Alan Schill of SleepGenie.com. "When people take their snoring problem seriously and do something about it, the effect on their lives and their health is tangible and dramatic."
The adverse and well documented health effects of snoring on the human body can be further complicated if you suffer from obstructive sleep apnea. This is an even more problematic and dangerous condition when the body stops breathing many times through the night. This can result in panic awakenings, breathlessness, and a sense of escaping from a bad dream.
If they suspect sleep apnea, your doctor might recommend a sleep study. Sleep studies can cost from $1500-$3000, so people are searching for solutions themselves online.
Snoring cures that have been reported to work include jaw and neck exercises, but there are also anti-snoring devices that have been reported to work quite well and which are non-invasive and safe. One thing is for sure, people are searching in high numbers on the internet for snoring remedies and reading about anything that claims to cure snoring.
"We get a lot of visitors who suffer from heavy snoring and are looking for a snoring cure that might save them from spending several thousand dollars on a sleep clinic" says Schill.
"Many of our customers are simply spouses of snorers who are also plagued by a constant lack of sleep due to their partner's snoring problem. They are looking for a snoring cure for their partner and to save their own health as much as their spouse's."
The final verdict of many family doctors and sleep disorder specialists is that snoring needs to be taken seriously. It is not just an annoyance. It can literally be life threatening, especially if it is merely an indicated of obstructive sleep apnea.
Schill says "Rather than treat it like an uncontrollable nuisance, snorers and their spouses should seek help from their physician and research snoring cures online."

ThinSpring’s ELIPS Technology Solution Achieves Critical FDA E-Submissions’ Milestone
ThinSpring, a leading provider of XML-based solutions and developer of SPL Server provides the technology at the heart of ELIPS. This milestone paves the way for the Structured Product Labeling (SPL) mandate to become a reality later this year as directed by the FDA.
(PRWEB) November 1, 2005 -- The solutions implementation team for the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) Electronic Label Information Processing System (ELIPS) completed the first XML-based labeling submission to the National Library of Medicine (NLM) recently. This successful submission included the conversion of a drug label to Structured Product Labeling (SPL) XML, using SPL Server™ in the conversion process, by ThinSpring’s conversion services partner, Reed Technology and Information Services.
ThinSpring, a leading provider of XML-based solutions and developer of SPL Server provides the technology at the heart of ELIPS. This milestone paves the way for the Structured Product Labeling (SPL) mandate to become a reality later this year as directed by the FDA.
According to Ron Celeste, CEO of ThinSpring, “The FDA is really breaking new ground with ELIPS. By ensuring rapid label-change approvals and immediate electronic distribution to medical professionals and consumers, critical labeling information can be conveyed accurately and quickly, improving medical outcomes and reducing the chance for prescribing errors.”
The same technology being implemented by the FDA is available commercially to pharmaceutical companies for label submissions management and validation of SPL submissions. “ThinSpring’s dedication to customizing an effective SPL solution and 100% assured SPL compliance is a winning combination for a wide-range of pharmaceutical companies,” states Kevin Stapel, Chief Technology Officer, and developer of ThinSpring’s patented XML engine. “When ThinSpring’s SPL Server is used to convert, manage and submit labeling content, it is certain that the label will pass the FDA’s XML validation process and business rules review.”
Mr. Celeste concludes, “Overall, the benefit to pharmaceutical companies is substantial. When a company needs to get a label approved, or revisions implemented, they can’t worry about technology issues. ThinSpring’s SPL Server allows their focus to remain on labeling content, and not the technology. Everyone benefits: the company, the FDA, and the patient!”
SPL Server and conversion services based on SPL Server are available today. The ELIPS technology implementation project is on-track and scheduled for completion on October 31, 2005. Further information about the ELIPS project or SPL Server can be obtained from Mr. Celeste at e-mail protected from spam bots.

Sanuvox UV Purification Systems’ Ability to Destroy Avian Flu (Bird Flu) and Avian Influenza A (H5N1)
The use of Sanuvox Ultraviolet Air Purification Systems can be used as a preventative tool to limit the spread of Influenza in residential, commercial and industrial applications.
Montreal, Canada (PRWEB) November 1, 2005 -- Sanuvox Technologies Inc. has been receiving many inquiries regarding the use of Sanuvox Ultraviolet Air Purification Systems on the Avian Flu. Sanuvox UV systems can be used as a prevention tool to limit the spread of Influenza in working and public environments.
According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) there are many different subtypes of type A influenza viruses. When we talk about “bird flu” viruses, we are referring to influenza A subtypes chiefly found in birds. They do not usually infect humans, even though we know they can. When we talk about “human flu viruses” we are referring to those subtypes that occur widely in humans. It is likely that some genetic parts of current human influenza A viruses came from birds originally. Influenza A viruses are constantly changing, and they might adapt over time to infect and spread among humans. For more information on Avian Influenza please visit the CDC at http://www.cdc.gov/flu/avian/gen-info/facts.htm
Sanuvox Ultraviolet Air Purification Systems have been tested and used in thousands of applications, from residential systems to commercial / industrial Indoor Air Quality applications. The Sanuvox proprietary UV process uses a specially designed 19 mm. High-Intensity Ultraviolet Quartz Lamp that produces UVC (254 nm) and UVV (185 nm) light (both wavelengths are fused into the Lamp). UV-C is short-wave radiation; it attacks the DNA of a cell. This wavelength’s primary uses are for the destruction of viruses, bacteria, mold and other microorganisms that pass through the Sanuvox system. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends this method for destroying viruses such as tuberculosis. UV-V is primarily used for oxidization; this is the portion of the Lamp that will destroy chemicals and odors such as cigarette smoke, VOCs, diesel fumes, odors and formaldehyde.
According to Dr. Normand Brais, President of Sanuvox Technologies Inc. “The Avian Flu virus is a variation of Influenza. Influenza requires 3,400 microwatts of UVC energy for complete destruction, a fraction of what is needed to destroy tuberculosis at 10,000 microwatts. Sanuvox Ultraviolet Air Purification Systems have been tested and found to be up to 99.9% effective in destroying airborne tuberculosis, which is almost three times more resilient than Influenza. As a result, should the Avian Flu virus be airborne, a properly sized Sanuvox Ultraviolet Air Purifier (taking into account air velocity, size of ductwork and / or application) can destroy the Avian Flu virus should it pass through the UV system.”
About Sanuvox Technologies
Sanuvox Technologies, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of multi U.S. patented Ultraviolet Air Purifiers and UV Coil Cleaners. Sanuvox manufactures UV Air Purifiers for residential, commercial and industrial applications. The Sanuvox line consists of germicidal, UV-C & UV-V purifiers, HEPA / Filter / UV-C / UV-V units as well as germicidal Coil Cleaners. Process Changes at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Result in Safer and More Efficient Nutrition Compounding
The introduction of the Baxa automated compounder and Monterey Medical Software allows a leading children’s hospital to minimize med errors, reduce man hours and improve clinical efficacy.
Englewood, Colo. (PRWEB) October 31, 2005 -- With medical errors being one of the top 10 leading causes of death in this country, error reduction is a priority at most hospitals. In an effort to address this and other clinical concerns, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital (LPCH) launched a program to update their Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) processes. The program’s primary objective was to develop a safer, more clinically effective TPN environment. A multi-disciplinary team formed to look at the available alternatives to meet this and other objectives, such as decreasing adverse drug events (ADEs), compliance with USP 797, minimizing infection risk and reducing compounding time.
After careful consideration, in March of 2004, the task force elected to integrate Baxa Corporation’s Exacta-Mix 2400 (EM2400) hardware and the TPN Medsoft™ Software from Monterey Medical Solutions into their TPN process. “It was evident from day one that this combination of LPCH, Baxa and Monterey Medical was a win-win-win situation,” notes task force member and LPCH Director of Pharmacy, Dr. Robert Poole. “For example, we immediately went from three technicians mixing TPN solutions 6.5 hours each per day under three sterile hoods, to one technician mixing compounds six hours per day under one sterile hood.” In addition, notes Poole, “Over the last 24 months, we have decreased ADEs by over 70%., decreased our rates of TPN-related pharmacy interventions, and reduced the number of steps in the process, with fewer incident reports.”
Intravenous nutritional therapy, or TPN, supplies essential nutrients like proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. An intricate and error-prone process, TPN therapy for children averages 16 ingredients, nine of which can be lethal if given in excessive doses. Prior to implementing the Baxa system, LPCH relied on a macro compounder for most of its needs. LPCH upgraded to the Baxa EM2400 system because as a state-of-the-art automated closed system, it decreased the potential for human error and touch contamination and minimized the opportunity for infection.
The combination of LPCH–Baxa–Monterey Medical focused on individual patient’s needs. First used at LPCH, the TPN Medsoft Software automates the processing of physicians’ prescriptions to create easy-to-follow instructions for pharmacists, making potentially dangerous procedures more reliable and safer to implement. The software also notifies the prescriber if there are variations between the prescribed amount to be given to the patient and the amount listed in standard nutritional protocols. The Windows®-based software has a user interface that is easy to understand and implement. Its users – doctors, nurses and pharmacists – have extensive training in nutritional therapy and can learn the new software in a matter of minutes.
The EM2400 also is Windows®-based, with graphical user interfaces and touch-screen control. It uses bar code verification of source ingredients and patient prescriptions and incorporates an audit record for quality assurance and accuracy.
Dr. Poole credits the new TPN process with ensuring a much safer treatment plan for infants, as well as adults, who need TPN therapy. “It is with tools such as the EM2400 and TPN Medsoft Software that we can make TPN therapy truly safe for the first time. The TPN process we have implemented has made a huge impact on the pharmacy environment and culture at LPCH,” concluded Dr. Poole.
Internationally recognized for pediatric and obstetric care, Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford provides a wide range of services for babies, children, adolescents and expectant mothers. LPCH pediatricians, specialty doctors, nurses and staff serve children and their families in the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, northern California and beyond. It is recognized both for its achievements and its commitment to highly specialized care.

A New Area of Stroke Rehabilitation – Froomsplint® to Provide Independence for the Victim and Caregiver
Freedom to perform the most basic personal tasks is often lost for the partially paralyzed stroke victim or those with other neurological disorders. Now available is a splint that restores that independence, prevents clawhand and turns everyday tasks into extended therapy sessions.
(PRWEB) October 31, 2005 -- In 2003 while providing care for his mother after she survived a major stroke, Keith Froom, third generation inventor with 20 years of experience in research, design and manufacturing, designed the anti-spasticity Froomsplint® out of frustration with available splints and stroke therapy technology. After having used the Froomsplint®, his mother has had remarkable recovery that includes restoration of movement in the previously paralyzed side, the ability to perform all tasks previously enjoyed and a return to full-time office administration (typing, using computers, etc.). Carol Froom regained her driving privileges and is creating beautiful hand crafted greeting cards in her spare time.
When neurological paralysis occurs, the muscles involved don’t work and quickly begin to atrophy, which causes a shortening of muscles and thereby the “clawing” one often sees on stroke survivors. The available splints, Keith discovered, were bent to accommodate that clawing rather than correct it. In fact, he discovered that 60-80% of the physical therapy sessions were spent massaging and stretching hand and arm muscles; hence, only 10 – 15 minutes were available for rehabilitation.
In addition, without use of one body side, his mother and other rehab patients he observed were unable to perform the simplest of tasks like wiping on the toilet, washing in the shower and getting dressed. It became obvious why so much of stroke recovery is overcoming depression. So Keith got busy.
The Froomsplint®
The Froomsplint® is machined out of high quality plastic and has straps that attach to the hand it is available in small, medium and large sizes. It is reversible for right or left hand in a rigid model or an adjustable thumb model. Most importantly, the Froomsplint® hand orthosis can be applied or removed easily by patients, therapists or caregivers, minimizing the need for expensive tape; it is available by special order in smaller sizes for children. . The Froomsplint also has patented accessories that attach to walkers, wheelchairs and restroom fixtures. Keith Froom has also patented a line of exercise devices for rehabilitation.
Benefits of the Froomsplint®
• Froomsplint is compact, comfortable and adjustable, easily used by the patient or caregiver. It expands weight-bearing rehabilitation from a supervised regimen to simple home-based therapy, creating a whole new area of stroke rehabilitation.
• Allows for an extended weight-bearing surface, which in turn facilitates motor recovery, and aids patients and caregivers in performing stretching, strengthening and stabilization exercises. .
• Helps maintain a weight-bearing surface for a recovering limb, so that dropping, holding and moving the upper body trunk, in relation to the distal limbs, is possible.
R.K. Froom & Co. Inc.
R.K. Froom & Co. Inc. was established in 2003 specifically to research and develop a line of medical equipment to aid the medical community in the home healthcare and rehabilitation field.
Businesses interested in manufacturing, licensing and distributing R.K. Froom & Co. Inc.’s integrated line of over fifteen stroke and rehabilitation devices for wheelchairs, walkers and home care are invited to contact us. The Froomsplint and its related devices were awarded patent # 6,949,077 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office on September 27th, 2005.
