Shape Technology has the Edge
Shape Technology launches The Edge Wipe System to the market this week. This new product eliminates strip marking caused by excess lubricants on the strip edge.
(PRWEB) March 19, 2005 -- On a typical cold mill, coolant carry-over problems are commonplace, generating quality control issues with wet coils and strip marking. In most cases where coolant is carried over to the exit side of the mill, standard air blow-off systems remove excess fluid from the top and bottom surfaces of the strip but not from the extreme vertical edges. Based on experience and a sound understanding of the rolling process, Shape Technology provides a flexible control scheme incorporating all the features necessary for effective control of strip edge dryness.
The Edge Wipe also reduces kerosene wastage and contamination, which has huge cost savings to the user. As the coolant is drawn off the strip it is recycled via the mill sump which significantly reduces losses. In addition, the Edge Wipe helps in the reduction of harmful vapours being released into the environment, as it prevents wet coils which would have previously caused the kerosene to be burnt off in the annealing furnace.
Another feature of the Edge Wipe System is the Self Seeking Width Setting, which automatically self adjusts for varying width settings and strip edge tracking. It gives a continuous width and centring indication.
